Sir Nighteye origins

There's like frightening little about Sir and I just kind of can't kill the plot bunny in my head of a young Nighteye having been rejected from all sorts of hero schools and agencies just because like a foresight quirk that isn't super specific probably isn't seen as particularly useful at first or versatile and a school like UA would absolutely not accept a student with that kind of non-physical quirk. I don't think Nighteye went to UA as a hero student if at all.

But like the other detail is that Nighteye kept asking and asking All Might to be a sidekick and like I really REALLY can't kill the idea of a young Nighteye not within the heroics industry accidentally stumbling into All for One's web of secrets and lies and uncovering this pattern of quirks vanishing and quirkiness people going missing and turning up dead and with quirks and this one mysterious string of heroes that rose at similar times as the prominence of those incidents and the connections between them all and then trying SO FUCKING HARD to get All Might to know that he knew and All Might just not fucking getting that this random fucko who keeps showing up and asking to help him is smarter than he thought.

Anyway my point is that I'm writing this fic IMMEDIATELY because I need this in my life. And Sir Nighteye will be trans because I want him to be.

Thinking about Detective Tsukauchi from BNHA because I do not trust the police or law enforcement as they are the muscle and therefore the violence of the state, whose interests are not inherently and in fact are rarely ever aligned with the interests of the people. But like what do you do when your gift from the world is to tell truth from lies? There's something so futile in trying to be anything other than an investigator into people and the only way to reach your own potential is to become part of the violence of the state.

Like what do you do, who do you become, in a society where you have to register your ability and it's effectively known to all? You'd just become a part of it. And maybe you could be raised to have some idealistic dream of fixing it all maybe you get in before it truly sinks in that there's no way to be a good cop, but then where do you go and would you ever truly be allowed to leave? Would any government allow someone with that power to just walk away?
