can i ask whether you have any issues playing the older games on a newer computer? i really want to replay mystery legends phantom of the opera but something about the resolution doesn't allow me to open it.

Yyyyeaahhh, on my laptop, I was able to play Mystery Legends: POTO, but it made my computer loud and hot. I did struggle with crashes on Brink of Consciousness: The Lonely Hearts Murders; I think older games that haven't been updated to be more compatible with later-edition devices might have problems you can't avoid...

I play on my boyfriend's desktop now, and one older game I had problems with was Sea Legends: Phantasmal Light. It opens with a small cutscene/animation, which seemed to be crashing the game. I got around it by frantically clicking around to skip it. When I got to the title screen, I was able to play just fine.

I think you may have to do some trial-and-error with your settings, trying your computer's Gaming Mode, making sure you have no background apps running, opening it windowed, or messing with the resolution if you can. I'm not an expert on these things though, so maybe some other people in the reviews or online might have some advice!

The characters are from a hidden object game called Dark Parables: The Red Riding Hood Sisters. The first drawing is Ruth and the second two drawings is Briar Rose.

Don't mind me, I just ripped some stuff off of one of my favorite games. I found the iPad version online and, fun fact, turned the file into a zip file to rip it. iOS devices use a type of file called a IPA file, which can be converted into a zip file.

So while I'm here, let me elaborate on something -

I got into Hidden Object Games many a years ago through the WildTangent Games application on my laptop. They had an online currency system where you either bought/subscribed to getting 'coins', which you would use to replay your games.

However. Your first play of any game was free, with *unlimited* playing time. So kid-me avoided paying for most of the games by installing a bunch of HOPAs and completing them in one sitting, so I would never have to replay them. WildTangent got rid of their 'unlimited time' since then, and I'll forever miss exploiting that.

This means I've played many Hidden Object games, but didn't give myself a lot of time to digest them back then, so I don't remember a lot about them. A goal of mine on this blog is to locate the games I've played before to revisit again. I sadly cannot name *every* game I've played, but I have many vague memories of them!

gloomy tales horrific show is a halloween carnival themed hopa. it had some minor bugs when I played a while ago but maybe they’re fixed now… my favourite parts were the werewolf guy with the hot voice and the main character’s halloween sweater

I listed this as one of my favorite Hidden Object games, so I don't think it would be right of me NOT to make a post about it, because it was the first HOPA game that I ever really hyperfixated on.

Weird Park: Broken Tune

If you like the creepy carnival-aesthetic, I recommend giving it a play! It takes place in an abandoned amusement park and you tail a little jester, investigating the disappearance of a journalist while learning about the park's line of deaths, including the passing of Louis Gauche(a clown).

The game happens to be part of a trilogy, the next one is Weird Park: Scary Tales, followed by Weird Park: The Final Show. If you enjoyed the first, give those two a play as well, though I only really like the first and second games, personally.

I'm always on the lookout for more circus-themed HOPA games like this one, if anyone happens to know any more!
