Darkiplier has the same problem the fandom has: he sees every Mark as WKM!Mark. As the actor, the asshole, the worst version of himself. “Same snake, different skin”. But he’s wrong (or lying).

He’ll seemingly hunt down every version of Mark - except, for whatever reason, Engineer - even if they’re innocent.

That’s what makes him the villain. That obsession with Mark.

That’s the worst part of us that Dark held on to when the rest of us was left behind.
