Writing a romance scene between friends-turned-lovers

1. Build Tension and Chemistry:

Angry about Lore.fm the "AO3 Audible app"

For those who don't know, Lore.fm is an app that's advertised as "audible for AO3". It uses AI text-to-speech voices to read fics on an app completely separated from AO3 and creates a local copy of the fic audio on your device. It is stated to be non-profit.

1. It's opt-out not opt-in, that alone is a red flag and worthy of suspicion. The only way to not get your fic used without permission is to email them - it is unsafe and dubious to hand out personal email addresses to companies you don't know.

2. It takes engagement and agency away from the authors. Readers using this app don't even need to interact with the original AO3 post. Only a link is needed to generate the audio. An extension would've been significantly more ethical than an app.

3. Valid criticisms towards this project are labelled by the developer as "ableist and classist". Most devices and browsers already have FREE screen readers available. Especially for IOS (since this is mainly advertised for IOS), the existing built-in accessibility screen reader is very decent! I'd know cause I've been using it for more than a decade!

4. The developers show zero transparency. The devs listed for this app are also in a company that made an AI WRITING/STORYTELLING APP called Spinoff. The fact that this information is hidden on the appstore for Lore.fm tells me all that I need to know. I found the source for this on this comment by CupcakeBeautiful. [Edit: Unfortunately, the comment has been deleted by reddit for some reason, so I have removed the link to it.]

This whole thing pisses me off. Once again it shows that people don't respect and don't care about actual fic writers. I wish people would stop exploiting fanfiction authors under the guise of accessibility. Please think carefully if this is a company/project you'd want to support.

I don't usually post things like this on this blog, but I don't think a lot of people are aware of this situation on tumblr. Please feel free to add any information that I've missed. If this post comes off as aggressive, I apologise. I am just very frustrated.

Is it weird that I want Shen Qingqiu to be as terrified of losing Binghe as Binghe is of losing him? Hear me out

Shen Yuan was a pretty boy with a dull life before he transmigrated. Yes, he had a loving family, but he had no aspirations and was basically set for life so he did nothing other than read novels and trash on bad writing. 

He wasted away his days and wasn’t happy, if the fact that he settled into being “Shen Qingqiu” so quickly and completely forgetting his life as Shen Yuan tells us anything. But in both of his lives there was one thing consistent: Luo Binghe.

Whether it be as a character he loved or as his beloved disciple, Binghe was there.  He was there for him to adore and fight for and protect. He brought him fulfilment in his first life, he brought him happiness in his second. And for someone like Shen Yuan, who lived a boring life, Binghe was like a lifeline.    

And if I was at Shen Qingqiu’s place, I’d be terrified of losing the best thing in my life.

Nice technique, Shen Yuan praises in his head, because the fuzzy bits are the worst. “Xiao-Jiu has filed a report on the mission,” Yue Qingyuan says, and then he puts a slice in Shen Yuan’s hand, and oh. Oh, Yue Qingyuan is peeling it for him.

People don't seem to realise that the reason Bingqiu works is that Shen Qingqiu is exactly as obsessed with Binghe as Binghe is with him

He read a ridiculously long novel that he hated full of porn he thought was terrible because of Luo Binghe

He was lured into the book by the monsters and stayed for Binghe

When he transmigrates from the moment he lands eyes on Binghe he is obsessed

This is the protagonist! He's super cool and so pretty with eyes that shine like stars! He spends two years in deep mourning even when he knows Binghe is coming back!

Even when he's afraid of him he cannot shut up about how pretty and perfect Binghe is

Every decision and thought he has centers around Binghe.

He is just as obsessed and that's why they are perfect for each other

Hell at the end of the book he's the one who's like "screw everyone else lets run away together!" And Binghe is surprised!

Because Binghe was willing to try and be less possessive (we see this later in the extras) but Shen Qingqiu is offering because he is happiest when it's just the two of them as well

They are two mutually obsessed fucked up idiots

They are perfect for each other
