Thiollier elden ring is so funny to me I haven't done much of the dlc yet but the fact he's like 'hey I'm thiollier I'm the biggest idiot alive and a hawk can carry me away easily anyway do you want my drink of instantly kill yourself?'

I’d assume the reason she went to Caelid is because that’s where Radahn was based - he has Redmane forts there and Sellia. I’m sure he laid siege to other places in TLB at various points but Caelid does seem to be his base of operations. The Godfrey angle is definitely apparent, when I got to the 2nd phase and saw Miquella climb onto his back I thought of Serosh immediately. I think the holding back the stars thing could be argued either way - if he changed his mind and didn’t want to become Miquella’s consort, maybe his reasoning for holding the stars (and fate) in stasis was to avoid that coming to fruition. I think I lean more towards that view personally

can i have a little ramble about dlc lore/discourse without anyone getting mad

if we accept the idea that the radahn/miquella story was planned from the beginning, i feel like they purposely left out any mention of them interacting in the base game to avoid people figuring it out long before the DLC even dropped. because they know what we're like and the way people figure things out from the most tenuous things is impressive. but it seems to have had the unintended consequence of it feeling like a rug-pull rather than a welcome surprise by the community, because elden ring is a game that rewards you for exploring, for uncovering the tiniest hints to lore in item descriptions, coming to your own conclusions on the story. so to feel completely blind-sided in this way about main story characters that we've formed opinions on for years doesn't feel like it fits with the base game's ethos at all. i get the feeling that players feel played with ironically lol? i'm also not sure fromsoft have ever done anything like this in their games before, where they've brought back main characters from the base game as a final boss, so i think that's had an affect too.

ty for sharing!! I only finished the dlc last night so I’m still wrapping my head around it and catching up on the discourse so it’s good to hear how other people are feeling about it. I think I agree with you feeling like u wanted it to be more of an ending, I wanted to finish it feeling satisfied and instead I just kinda felt like my head was too full trying to figure out everything I’d seen and learned.

I think the 2 year gap may have hurt its reception because we were left with the base game lore and characters for so long, that by this point we have a pretty solid idea of all these characters in our heads, so to have a lot changed so quickly is quite jarring really. I’m hoping this is just my initial reaction though and learning more abt the lore and other peoples takes on it will give me a new perspective, bc right now the radahn/mohg/miquella aspect is just so confusing to me that I can’t vibe with it, as much as I want to like I wanna support yk it’s like my fave game

don’t get me wrong though I did enjoy the dlc and some of the lore that was added genuinely brought me to tears it moved me so much! but I’d be lying if i said it was completely A+ to me, some lore felt super jarring in a sort of rug-pull way and some boss fights were just simply not fun for me (yes maybe I’m bad lol I can accept that). but I don’t wanna be overly negative truly bc I’m not, the new weapon types are cool and the armour omggg I live! basically all the new characters are really great they’re all my little guys now. the diff areas were so beautiful I love the hornsent architecture. all their lore was super interesting, and their designs, it’s more some of the bg characters lore I’m not vibing with as much rn. but I think like I said the 2 year wait had a lot to do with that. I’m looking forward to watching some videos and reading what other people have to say abt it :) am def open to my opinion changing

thanks to helpful oomf i figured out how to get to st trina, but there’s still no sign of thiollier, and when i imbibe her nectar or drink the concoction i got from thiollier earlier on nothing happens apart from i die and respawn. im goin crazy boots. i fear i have progressed too far and now this quest doesnt work or smth but i’m too worried abt spoilers to look it up. Pain !

(im still not gonna be here properly till im done with DLC so no spoils pls but i gotta do a tiny vent abt one part of my playthru so slight spoils under the cut)

I think I fucked up Thiollier’s quest and i’m upset. He just wasn’t where he said he was gonna be. I GOTTA KNOW ABOUT TRINA i can’t do all this again 😭 i miss scrolling the apps lol

also don’t understand how ppl have finished the dlc already i’m playing so much and i’m still not done
