Oh…
Of course after the line ‘I keep thinking of the infant from that night’ open arms plays. And it may just be that the child floats into Polities arms, being told to look on the bright side even in death. All within Odysseus’ sight.

This life is amazing...

is the polar opposite to

I had the most stupid idea that could probably be genuinely good if written well, but like: parkour civilization apocalypse.
Like Evbo (lived in poverty, can’t afford shit, probably in college debt) gets the main character luck and somehow survived a multi continental disaster and in the aftermath for him things are BETTER?
Like, he can scrounge for food easier, shelter is a lot safer, and whatever economy exists still went through a hard reset. Life great! (Maybe with the exception of the cult that’s happening down the street, the mass murderer that’s escaped jail and becoming a menace again, and the gladiator event that decided to show up next door)
And then rich man multi name shows up and suddenly plot happens.
