LWA Headcanon again (HnJ reference)

(In line with my fic, Hikari no Jukyo’s universe)

[In my fic, the Kagari’s own a traditional Japanese inn (ryoukan), which explains why they are well-off enough to be able to send Akko to Luna Nova- because girl, you sure as hell didn’t get accepted based on talent- and the girls go visit for vacation]

Akko’s mom raised her to be a proper Japanese lady (without the crazy, unreasonable pressure ofc). Therefore:

-Akko actually likes doing the tea ceremony stuff because it means she gets to eat. She sometimes finds herself hypnotized by the swirling of the tea in the cup.

-She prepared tea for Diana once in secret, and the blue team wondered where she had gotten such a good pre-made blend. She didn’t tell them she made custom blends as experiments as a child to prank her dad and please her mom.

-Lotte has Akko make tea a lot in their room. It relaxes all of them especially during test seasons.

-She didn’t like how girly everything was, and was constantly bored as a child, so her mom allowed her to learn how to wield a katana as a reward each time she got through the “tedious” stuff.

-Her dad lets her have Sundays to go learn Kenjutsu before realizing it was too harmful and switched her to kendo, but she had already soaked in all the knowledge she could. (Battling vs self-defense kind of thing)

-Akko won a tournament in her old middleschool, but was banned soon after because the club senpais didn’t like her quirkiness and skill.

-Diana learned fencing some time ago, and the pair spar sometimes despite the differences of style. “good training” they say.

-Akko’s favorite traditional activity is flower arrangement. (Mainly because she saw how happy her pieces made her mom feel.)

-She hates wearing Yukatas despite having done this for years.

-She usually helps the kitchen staff in preparing meals, so she has a wide culinary knowledge of Japanese food.

-She hates making poems, but is unexpectedly good at it.

-All the training helped with her constant restlessness, so when in duty at the ryoukan, it’s like a switch is flipped and she works gracefully, and feels calmer while in her role as an attendant. This also applies to when she simply dons a Yukata or traditional Japanese clothing. The air around her changes. She reverts if there is a catalyst.

-With the previous headcanon, when Akko was a child, she got a severe panic attack, and stumbled about her room, accidentally having her traditional clothes fall on her. The feel and scent calmed her down and her parents found her in a little bundle on the floor.

-Akko likes the scents of everything related to the ryoukan and her traditional studies because they remind her of her mom. It’s almost a part of her mother’s scent because of how diligently she worked and managed the place before falling sick.

-Akko’s dad struggled to manage the inn right away after her mom got sick, but picked himself up with Akko’s and her mom’s encouragement.

-Akko generally sucks at math, but is masterful with counting and managing funds and money.

-Her mother likes to keep a flower and herb garden and her dad has a small farm a short distance away from the inn

-She lost the tools she needed to gather her supplies for flower arrangement once, and used her katana.

-All the attendants and staff dote on Akko, and secretly do stuff to make her workload lighter. (They all get scolded)

-Everyone who’s visited the ryoukan remembers Akko

-Akko likes to sing and perform for the guests during dinners

-She can do basic coin and card magic tricks to entertain children

-Her dad taught her how to make simple fireworks

-She has a pet dog named Tōrō (Lantern) who is a guide for most people

-Tōrō sleeps by the foot of Akko’s bed on most days

-Tōrō has a love-hate relationship with Diana. He sometimes growls if she gets too clingy/touchy with Akko, but usually likes playing with her. 

-His favorite friends are Constanze and Hannah (surprisingly) despite Jasminka feeding him treats all the time. He often wrestles with Amanda. He usually avoids Sucy. Chariot cries because despite her best efforts, the dog doesn’t play with her as much.

-Chariot loves the baths. The girls struggle to get her out.

-Sucy loves the baths. Everyone worries about what she sneaks into the water.

-Lotte and Barbara freak out as they see all the reading material Akko has in her room. She has a lot of manga, but she has more traditional books and references, both literature and manuals.

-Akko’s dad loves to jump scare and trigger Diana

-Diana likes hugging Akko’s mother. It reminds her of her own.

-Akko’s mom likes too dress Diana up in traditional clothing because she’s cultured

For the third time in as many minutes, Phantom's phone goes off in the Watchtower.

The first two times it was silenced and ignored - this time the young ghost whips it out with an irritated, "Oh for the love of-" and hits answer.

"What?!"

"Respectfully, my liege, I ask that you reconsider my proposal on-"

"Not today, Satan," Phantom cuts in dryly and hangs up.

Most every member of the Justice League present smiles or chuckles - the young ghost is their newest member, and his humor is always appreciated.

Constantine on the other hand is frozen and sweating bullets, because he recognized the voice on the phone.

That was honest to fucking God Satan himself.

Have you seen that short where Marcille goes to an "ex-dungeon lord support group"?? It's so funny that it EXISTS at all but it ends with her being awkward because everyone there lost something great and she's sitting there like "uh... I lost the will to do my hair." But it's so sweet because her hair is styled in that short by someone who cares for her 🥺

I did!! If I recall correctly, I think Pattadol actually set it up because she wants to help former dungeon lords heal?? It's very sweet and also SO funny.

And kind of tragic. Marcille thinks she got off easy because she doesn't remember how much she used to love taking care of her hair. It was such a huge part of who she was as a person and now she doesn't even remember it well enough to grieve it. She says "oh well, I guess I'll cut it short" like she didn't spend years growing it and taking care of it. Like it wasn't a point of pride for her, like it wasn't something she really loved about herself.

Sure. It's not as bad as what happened to Mithrun and Thistle, who had their entire selves taken away. But the demon still took a fundamental part of her in an active attempt to make her more vulnerable, and she doesn't even think it was a big deal...
