I’m not saying I will write a fic where Caleb time travels to fix shit, but if I ever did, the title would probably be from the song Poor Wayfaring Stranger. it’s got the Vibes

wilbur soot, died a hero.

     “Died a hero,” Tubbo hummed, staring at the gravestone from across the small river. “What’d’ya think of that, Tommy? He got what he wanted, I guess.”

     Tommy threw a small rock into the lake. The trees around them carefully bended and rustled as the “blissfully,” as Wilbur would have put it, burning sun, turned into a calming gold hue. “Died a coward, that’s what I think — only thing he did was abandon us. Him and Phil. Murderer.”

     A beat of silence passed through the small garden they had made. Tubbo laid on his back as he threw a final rock into the river. “Involuntary manslaughter,” he said, enunciating each syllable.

     “…What? You always say—” Tommy started, before being cut off.

     “Involuntary manslaughter is the action of killing another person without meaning to. Alex ‘n,” Tubbo wasn’t too sure if his pause was of fear, respect, or disdain — but he knew for a fact that it was not out of love. “Schlatt taught me that.”

     “Oh, yeah, you can go off on me for calling my dad Phil, but when you say Schlatt, I don’t get to say anything? Real, fair, Tubbo, real fair.”

     “It’s out of respect for the dead,” Tubbo spoke, eyes closed. “He doesn’t have a gravestone.”

     “Doesn’t deserve one.”

     “Neither does Wilbur, then?”

     Tommy looked at him from across the river. He had his legs curled up to his chest, arms supporting his back — but mainly trying to get his hair out of the way, since it had grown longer during the war.

     “I’m not one to decide these things, Tubbo.” He picked up a rock and threw it in, sending a small splash his way. “I’m sixteen, y’know?”

     ”I know. We both know.” Tubbo imagined the boy across him, from a time before they had came here. They were both happy with their lives — they could have stayed with their old friends, had a nice home, one that wasn’t constantly in danger — “It’s too late, now.”

     “Huh?”

     “To go back. You only mention your age when you’re thinking about how things could’ve been. With your whole ‘not a child’ schtick.”

     “And when did you start being a therapist?”

     Tubbo’s eyes opened. “When you started needing one.”

     The other rolled his eyes. “I don’t need a therapist, Tubbo.”

     “You are a sixteen-year-old child who has fought in two wars, the first one beginning when you were twelve. I think you need a therapist, Tommy.”

     “You act like you’re not one yourself! Don’t be so ‘high and mighty’ — you’re shorter than I am!”

     “Perhaps I do, Tomathy,” Tubbo replied.

     “Perhaps you do,” Tommy mumbled. “Whatever. We’re both screwed. Who cares?”

     “Wilbur did.”

     “Don’t you dare play that card, Tubbo.”

     “I’m not wrong, Tommy. Stop acting like I am.”

     “Maybe you’re not wrong, but that doesn’t mean you get to say that. It’s not… not right.”

     “What, because he’s dead? Not like you didn’t want to talk about how he didn’t deserve his gravestone for so long,” Tubbo spat.

     Tommy picked at the grass as silence passed through the area. “Do you think, if we had done something different, he wouldn’t have ended the way he did?”

     “Ended as what, insane?” Tubbo opened his eyes to look at the sky, just for a bit. “Yeah. Yeah, I always think about it. There’s nothing you can really do, though. All we can really do is think about what he was.”

     “I wish I tried more, Tubbo. I wanted to try more.”

     Tubbo opened his eyes, all the way this time, and sat up. “I wish I saved Schlatt, but we couldn’t have done anything.”

     “At least he’s gone, huh?” Tommy said, a bittersweet smile on his face.

     Tubbo laughed. “At least he’s gone.”

hey in light of me avoiding tommy lore in emotional distress-

Lets talk about our dear friend Connor, shall we?

--SPOILERS for Tommy's March 12th stream--

I think since the first time I saw this guy on the SMP (that one time he got held hostage for something he had no relation to lul), I've been so interested in Connor. I mean like lorewise or not, my man is severely underrated and I genuinely enjoy it so much whenever he pops up randomly. Emphasis on the randomly? While Connor may not be very involved in lore, he's been used in many situations as the friendly comic-relief! Especially with times like him 'taking his home back' from Tommy, accidentally getting taken hostage, or simply adding an extra comment or two that makes the others (and us) laugh.

Which brings us to the first instance of ...Connor lore? Cue Tales from the SMP.

The most recent TFTSMP episode, the haunted mansion, centered around a party that our friend Connor was hosting. Nothing out of the ordinary of course, but one of the first things that stood out to me was that the host was.. Connor? And at this point you might be saying, well of course it was him, that's what it was about- and you're right! But what I mean, is why did Karl choose for an episode to focus on Connor? A character, who is barely involved in any lore and is recognized as the funny guy who sometimes shows up? While, I'm ecstatic truly that Connor is finally getting some spotlight, it's really interesting that the episode focused on his event, and in the near future nevertheless! [Also a funny tidbit, that may not be too important, but the two times Connor has tried to get involved and do an event, Schlatt, or rather Glatt, is there.]

On to our next instance! Tommy's stream. The day he was released from the prison.

One thing that I think was one of the most important takeaways from this stream, was how with every interaction Tommy had after being free, a new storyline was introduced! Whether it was a storyline already hinted at or completely new, this stream was a big help to show us different characters and where their story is going. Most of them were characters we already know about, or at the very least, have seen bits and pieces of their storylines being hinted at. For example, Tubbo and Ranboo's newfound relationship, Sam's grief and his now broken relationship with Tommy, Quackity's upcoming business, Jack Manifold admitting to trying to kill Tommy. Even indirectly interacting with Puffy through her therapy office! (I haven't seen the stream yet, but Ik Puffy did some lore) All of these characters we're familiar with except- well. Connor.

This stuck out to me wildly during the stream, that out of all people, one of the first he interacted with was Connor. Also surprisingly, he was trusted enough by Tommy to tell him everything- well, almost everything that happened. In the process of trying to get Connor out of his house, he read his diary. The first page was simple, mentioning his grief for Tommy's death and getting food I believe. The next page- you can see for yourself.

*Cue Awesamdude voice* Whaaaaatttttt?

We can assume this entry takes place either the day of or sometime after Connor's party at the Haunted Mansion. Well, Maybe. We'll get back to that in a minute.

So, the question is, what does Connor know? He could know either one of two things, that Karl is a time traveler, OR that Karl is an amnesiac. Let's look at both.

Lets say Connor knows Karl is a time traveler. First of all, if this is what he knows about Karl, I am IN LOVE with the idea that one of the most uninvolved characters up until now knows a big- if not the BIGGEST- secret on the server. But also since it's such a big secret, it's hard to believe that he would reveal something that wild behind the scenes. Here's where it gets complicated though. If Connor does know, that leaves us with two opportunities where he could've found this out and made the diary entry. One, sometime after Tommy died and before the TFTSMP event, Karl and Connor had an interaction, that for some reason?? Led to Karl telling Connor??

Or.. two, the TFTSMP Haunted mansion. Which would mean Connor is not so different from Karl. Aka, he's also messing with some time business, just as the latter is. Because not only was that diary entry not too long after Tommy's death, but that TFTSMP episode was in the future- Definitely more recent than the lost city of Mizu, but surely not only a couple days in the future? The only way this is possible, is if Connor did some time traveling just like Karl and went to the future. And maybe perhaps figured out Karl's secret along the way? As entertaining as this idea is, it doesn't have much substance to it yet to be honest.

Let's look at option two for what Connor may know about Karl. While he may not know of the time travelling, he may have found out about Karl losing his memories. This is the more viable option. I can see this being something that they can leave out for behind the scenes, while also bringing it to light in the lore. With this, Connor must've had an interaction with Karl, that led to him finding out about him losing his memories and himself. Why Karl would tell him? No idea. Maybe he wasn't worried about other people finding out if he vented to someone who isn't too involved. Who knows. But, it'd make the most sense.

Not only that, but it'd also backup Connor's sentence of "hope he sees a doctor." If Connor knew about Karl's time travelling secret, it would be weird to think he could solve it with simply, seeing a doctor? Especially if we went with the idea that Connor was a time traveler himself, like, why would he say that? In the context that he knows about Karl losing his memories, it would make much more sense for him to mention a doctor, as it sounds more like a mental/medical issue more than anything. Just as Ranboo has a short term memory, Connor could simply see it as something Karl really needs to get checked out.

So, what can we take from this? Not only those this reveal bring many new openings for Connor's storyline to start, but it also makes a connection between Karl's slowly degrading condition in TFTSMP to other characters in the dream SMP. Yes, I know we have Kinoko Kingdom, but Sapnap and George.. don't really know the real purpose behind it? They know Karl wanted to move his library for this, and they aren't allowed in there. Besides that, Karl is very secretive about what goes on with him. This interaction gives us a character connection to Karl that provides even the slightest opportunity of more people being aware of his state and growing amnesia. And from there, well, questions will arise.

All in all though, I am sooooo excited to see if Connor gets more involved with the lore outside of and with TFTSMP, and with Karl lore nonetheless! So many storylines were introduced and mentioned today, and I can't wait to see where each of them go :D

headcannon,,,,,,,

-when he was little, tommy would always hide around the house and make it impossible for wilbur to find him.

-he didn't respond when he was called or told to come out so wilbur started singing songs then waiting for tommy to finish the other line so he knew where he was

wilbur: fly me to the moon...

tommy, inside a closet: and let me play among the stars!!!

-when tommy got older, he would retract to a small place or a burrow or just anywhere hidden when he got upset or stressed out.

-wilbur wouldn't know where he was, but he could always sing and tommy would either sing or hum back to him to let him know he was alright

-even if it was something simpler like just making sure tommy was still working on his homework in his room while wilbur was downstairs with his friends or he’d do it just making sure he was alright.

-it became a game sort of. wilbur started singing songs he didn't think tommy would guess

wilbur: choke me~

tommy, from his room: LIKE YOU HATE ME

wilbur: WHY DO YOU KNOW THAT ONE

tommy: EVERYONE KNOWS CORPSE HUSBAND

-so then like. even during the wars and stuff, if wilbur didn't know where tommy was in the ruins of the battle fields, he would just sing. if it was on the battle field, it was usually the lmanburg anthem

-when wilbur died, tommy hid for a really long time. he knows how to hide, so he isn’t found. wilbur couldn’t ever find him without singing. tommy didn’t have wilbur to sing and find him now. he stayed their for two days.

-ghostbur started to sing lines and tommy would answer. ghostbur would get so excited and scream "i found you!" when he did. the first time it happened was in exile, and tommy was hiding after dream left because it’s become a coping mechanism.

-ghostbur did it when he hid in techno's house. tommy would hide when he heard anyone enter the house and he was there alone, but ghostbur would just sing something and he'd come out. techno came back home with ghostbur once and techno was so confused, as was phil. they didn’t know about the singing and the hiding, even though it was a big part of tommy’s childhood.

phil: where's tommy?

techno: he's probably hiding. i usually wait 30 minutes for him to come out.

ghostbur: oh! i can find him! (starts singing)

tommy: (sings back and comes out of the box)

- phil and techno are just confused. neither tommy or ghostbur gives an explanation.

-(back to exile) dream caught on to it at one point. when they were still friends, before the bigger wars. tommy absentmindedly explained it to him, not thinking much of it. so when he was in exile and he was hiding, dream would eerily start singing songs he knew were special to tommy.

-when he was in techno's house and looking for tommy, he would sing something and tommy would have to physically stop himself from singing back.

techno: oh hey dream what's going on

dream: .... (enters his house and looks around) fly me to the moon...

-techno hears tommy flinch in the box. he only heard because of his hybrid senses, so dream didn’t hear. techno coughs and escorts him out. dream then explains the singing to techno, and that’s how techno finds out.

-tubbo not knowing about the singing and hiding, but knowing tommy disappears randomly, usually when tommy is feeling too much at once. tubbo just randomly sings songs and doesn't finish the lines because he's distracted with something else, and tommy just hops out of his hiding place and sings the rest of the line.

-tommy randomly hides but then hears tubbo singing and his mood changes instantly

tubbo, building in snowchester: he's in your bed but i'm in your twitch chat...

tommy, hiding in a nearby tree: IVE GOT THE KEY, AND HE'S JUST A DOORMAT

tubbo: TOMMY WHAT THE FUCK YOU SCARED ME

-it works for tubbo and wilbur. and instinctively techno and dream.

-other people try sometimes and it only works every now and then

-but for some reason it just never works with phil

-tommy doesn't know why. no one knows

-but tommy just,, he won't respond or feel like he needs to

-like phil will come back to techno's house without techno and like. he needs to find tommy quickly so he sings something. tommy just doesn't fuckin respond.

-so like. he tries again. he just thinks tommy is missing. but then techno gets there and he tries and tommy comes out immediately

-also q, fundy, and ranboo take advantage of it to make fun of tommy when/if they find out

q: TOMMY I FOUND YOU, GIVE ME BACK MY THINGS

-also just tommy and wilbur sitting and singing back and forth as tommy is like, bleeding out and wilbur is tending to his wounds

-because wilbur had to make sure he stays awake and stuff while he helps him and it's comforting

wilbur, bandaging tommy and disinfecting his wounds: i'm sitting here

tommy, in literal pain and almost in tears: crying in my prom dress

-when wilbur went crazy/insane, tommy would sing to him and wilbur wouldn’t respond back.

-there was multiple occasions where wilbur would slip so far, yelling and violent, and tommy got scared. so he hid.

-and wilbur could never find him. he never sung, only yelled for him. and tommy had to listen.

-wilbur had just,lost it. he didn't sing to tommy. tommy would try to sing simple lines to get wilbur to sing back. wilbur would tell him to shut up.

-this was before anyone really understood what was happening so they also told tommy to shut up. and tommy would just be upset because he really lost his brother.

-and when ghostbur came back, tommy tested it on him. so you can imagine the tears when ghostbur sang back to tommy

-also they used the joke for normal stuff (back when war wasn’t a huge issue)
