It’s Spooky Month!

Decided to come up with my own little costume ideas for my favourite little group of block people.

Funnily enough this is the first time this year that I’ve drawn them all as a group, let alone individually (excluding Jesse).

okay Hi!!! chores! like okay I've only really begun to appreciate housework and what it means at this point in my life, but I feel at least the way I would go about it especially young kids the big thing is to teach them how to do it and the skills to do it yknow and positive reinforcement!! a kids not gonna know everything! give them a reason to do it! they're not just gonna understand those values of hard work they're nine cmon!! lol

i really liked this episode overall! it's one of those ones though where they tackle a lot in one narrative so it feels kinda fast at parts (switching from story to life also adds to that) but doing that also makes for a really nuanced narrative! hard relate mostly to Louise here, that feeling of being a kid and just having to accept that every adult 'knew better' and not having to earn that respect and trust is. yknow, sucky. it starts to feel invalidating and almost silencing to a point (especially with teachers) which is shown really well here! Really did just kinda transport me back to that place in life and those feelings alaljdjs

Linda's competitiveness comes out in a lot of ways, and she always wants to do right especially with her kids but then also tends to consider a lot of what others think is right in child rearing, probably too much so (worms of in-rearment looking at you)

THE LIGHT FROM THE WINDOW AT THE END I don't know if that was intentional but it being lower on Linda's side to show that she's putting herself on Louise's level (at least in my head) is. JSJSJ

I was walking through the toy aisle at Target when I found this thing and had a VIOLENT AND IMMEDIATE FLASHBACK to when JP first came out and they had a bunch of REALLY COOL T Rex toys that I would have sold one of my scrawny small-child limbs for but my mother wouldn’t get me one because they were “too violent and also ate people” :(
