Adding on to this, there's so many irl sea creatures that have feline based names that they can turn literal/work off of inspiration from.

Catfish, Catshark, Tiger Shark, Lionfish, Leopard Seal, Leopard Eel, etc.

At this point Nintendo/Game Freak needs to buckle down and make a bipedal cat Water type starter.

Donnie from Rottmnt would 1000% have a Tinkaton. You can't tell me that he wouldn't.

He'd be out scrounging in a junkyard for parts one night and run across this small pink pokemon doing the same thing.

And he'd be like "What are you doing here?" And the Tinkaton would proudly show off it's hammer that it made. And he'd be like "Nice craftsmanship but ...." And he'd pull out his staff and click the button that turns it into a hammer. "Mine's better." And the Tinkaton would stare at it with sparkly, pleading eyes. And he'd be like "Want me to show you a thing or two?" And the Tinkaton would nod it's head vigorously and he'd be like "Then come along new best friend!"

The two would preceded to be absolute murderous, mechanical menaces together.

Side Note: I immediately thought about the primate starter trio squaring up against the elemental pan/simi trio.

So I know there are both versions where Splinter started out as a human and got mutated into a rat. And ones where he started out as a rat that got mutated into a humanoid alongside the turtles. And in all of those the turtles always start off as turtles.

So what I've been wondering about is the two other possible combinations here. Like, what about a version where they all started out as humans, including the boys, and they all get mutated? There's a lot of interesting ways you could set that up.

But! The one I'm most interested in is the last possibility. Which is where the boys started out as humans but Splinter started out as a rat.

Like imagine getting raised and adopted by your former pet.

The mind boggling emotional implications of that is just * chef's kiss *. Like it has the potential to be funny but also so fucking heartwarming. But also a little spice of angsty.

I've been back and forth on whether I wanted Eda or Camila to adopt the Collector.

But no lie when I saw the Collector working with Lilith to free everyone from being puppets and then walking up to and looking up at her I somehow accidentally 1000% assumed she had adopted them.

...Until it was revealed that he was just giving her Hooty. And that they then left to be alone in the stars, parentless. :/

But I mean come on just imagine how smug about adopting them she'd be towards Eda!
