“Listen little one,” Namjoon kneels before the foot of your bed as you sit there upright, a small furrow in your brows at how formal he’s being. The hands clasped on your lap release themselves so that you can instinctively fiddle with your hands, a sign they’ve come to know as your anxiety spiking so Namjoon takes your hands in his, his features marked with serious composure but sending you a gentle warmth despite it all.

You listen to what he has to say.

“Before you completely abandon this world and join our side, I want you to—”

“I’m not having second thoughts!” You quickly say, worried he may think you’d come to regret this later on. “I promise I want this, Namjoon.”

The leader smiles despite himself, a chuckle leaving him. “I know, darling, and I don’t doubt your heart,” he says with a squeeze of your hands. “I just want to let you know that coming to our side does not only mean you’ll be making an enemy of your people, but you’ll be making an enemy of the whole world. We have our loyal subjects, there’s that, but there will always be people who will come after us, and because you will now choose to be with us, they’ll see you as a threat as well.”

“Are you prepared for that?” Seokjin asks as he comes up to your side, a hand on your shoulder while Hoseok falls onto your other side.

“If you aren’t prepared-”

“No,” you cut Hoseok off with a promising squeeze of Namjoon’s hands, a determined expression resting on your face, “I’m prepared,” you say. “I’ve been prepared, since the day I fell in love with you all.”

Namjoon smiles at those words. “That’s our girl.” He stands from his knee, hand reaching up to caress your cheek with a tender brush of his thumb. “There’s also another thing you have to know.”

You follow his every movement, a nuzzle against his hand before looking up at him. “What’s that?”

“We’ll always protect you.”

Yoongi takes your hand when Namjoon left it and presses a kiss on your knuckles. “Whatever happens, I want you to never keep anything a secret from us, alright? No matter how insignificant or futile you think your concerns may be, tell us everything.”

“Only in that way will we be able to protect you to our full potential,” Jimin says.

“You’ve always been stubborn in your way of thinking but please,” Taehyung runs a hand through your hair, “please promise you’ll tell us every little concern you have.”

“We have to protect all that you are, sweetheart,” Jungkook holds you from behind, placing a kiss to the nape of your neck. “Everything, darling, including your heart.”

“Especially your heart,” Namjoon says and as you feel them on every part of you, you give them a promising nod, knowing this is the only way to comfort their spiking anxieties.

“I promise,” you vow, “I promise I’ll tell you everything.”

Hoseok once had a mother a mere three-thousand or so years ago and she named him well. His name fell off her tongue in a major key and rang across acres and through caverns. She never failed to say his name in gargantuan font to be heard across nations; the syllables “Ho-seok” had chimed through shadowy deserts of Hell, Heaven, and Earth for as long as he lived. Hoseok was always big and known - a beacon of diabolic energy; it was his birthright.

His mother was long gone, but remained in a photograph which he always kept on his person (demon?). It was supposed that even immortals had to walk forward into new lives after some time. His father had been around for around one hundred years after, and his sister had moved on when he was barely a thousand. The only companion of Hoseok’s, the only one left, was a shih tzu who followed him even when he treated her with indifference. Hoseok had great power and an abundance of Earth men who sold him their souls, but the loneliness which plagued him was indescribable.
