I don’t want this played for ‘Larry is a dumbass/bad friend,’ either, I want this to be a young man trying his best in the face of his best friends’ oblivious mutual pining for each other and also the entire universe seemingly being set against him in this task. He has both a dry-erase board he does his planning on and a conspiracy board for why his plans keep failing by the end of it.

Also, it would conclude with Phoenix and Miles finally confessing to each other and Larry watching from behind a corner, and once he’s satisfied that this moment is well and truly happening he pulls his head back around the corner, leans against the wall, and slides down until he’s sitting, just radiating exhaustion and contentment, because he’s learned a lot about love and relationships and happiness over the course of these hijinks, too. And that moment Phoenix and Miles are having is for them, but this one right now, behind this wall? This one’s Larry’s, and he’s earned it.
