That’s when I realized it was as though Morgan Freeman was suddenly the narrator of my own brain.

What if this is how Ben fell to the dark side? He was without balance for his first ten years of life and succumbed to Snoke’s whispers?

Hey did you know that Rey is 19 and Kylo is around 29? :0 isn’t that crazy?

Well, if this were real life I might give that a side-eye. But, you know, given that this is the same universe where we’re supposed to believe Kylo’s granddaddy was conceived via immaculate-ish conception (still my biggest WTF in this entire universe, tbh) it doesn’t really phase me. 

Mentally, emotionally, and in every other possible way they are two halves of the same whole. They are the only people in the entire galaxy who can understand what the other is going through. They’re both adults, and so to me their actual, chronological age matters very little. At least that’s how I view it. 

That moment when a fic hits you right in the feels...

And ends perfectly, but you still feel like hell because it acts as a reminder that it never turns out that way for you in real life.
