With Rooster talking about Maverick pulling his papers and "setting him back by years" and chronologically being born in the early 80s, I'm surprised that only Maverick gets called "Old man" and "Pops".
I just realized that the call signs from Top Gun would work just as well as stripper names and I have not known peace since.
