yea u right
that’s why I said they aren’t conceptually bad, they aren’t guaranteed to be poorly written even if it’s really easy to do so.
probably should’ve mentioned that in the post lol. thank you for adding to my lil discussion :)
if you think about it. the best written characters are, at their core, self inserts
they say write what you know. y’know, using personal experience to understand what a character would do or feel. so the best writing for a character you can do will essentially always be based off personal experience or qualities.
why do you think Saint is the way he is. he is just an idealized version of my current worldview and moral values, wanting to always be helpful and respectful. Arti is an extension of my experiences with self-hatred, overthinking and conflicting emotions, wrapped in an angry exterior. Aven is just… me in freshman year of highschool, with a little less depression.
in short. I don’t understand why self inserts are considered conceptually bad. bcuz the best written characters are just well-disguised extensions of yourself.
or maybe I need some sleep. eh. could go either way

screw chicken scratching. I be chicken tearing. chicken gashing. out here on the frontlines of chicken warfare, using my chicken talons to chicken rend my chicken foes. putting chicken incisions in the chicken enemy lines. chicken lacerate.
eeeeeeeeee thank you!!!!
