Honey, sweetie, baby, those aren’t quirks, they’re trauma responses-

Izuku knows how to keep Eri from killing him. He knows how to withstand her quirk. He knows how he can protect her. Still, he hesitates, braces himself, if only for a moment.

It’s going to hurt.

Deku activates his quirk.

Full Cowling 100%: It’s blue-green light bending and blasting off his form. It’s all the casual power All Might ever had and more, held wielded in his unsteady hand. Tremors consume him under the sheer magnitude of this compounded strength, even as it slips from his control like water in his palms.

It’s only a second; the promise of everything he could be, everything he could do for people.

And then it shatters.

The burst of golden energy, the solidity of the child at his back. He feels it. And then he doesn’t.

Because, his world is exploding.

His bones break, an unmistakable feeling, then they piece themselves back together, smoothing out like an ironed sheet. His skin unravels, his muscles mincing, his blood splattering. And then they all just race back into place like a snapped rubber band. His skull and everything inside is pulsing as it pops like a balloon, lapsing his perception into blinks of nothing. It’s more than he ever expected. More than he thinks he can handle.

But, he has to. Deku has to. For Eri.

He won’t fail her again.

The pain is overwhelming for the first few seconds. He holds his tongue to keep from screaming, grits his teeth as he tries to sync his quirk to Eri’s. He wrangles enough control to let it fluctuate, dropping and raising to her own lack of control.

And let it never be said that Izuku Midoriya had anything less than an extreme tolerance for pain, because it only took those first few seconds of fighting to stand, before the pain of his constantly breaking body became background noise.

Deku takes a step, a walking mosaic. And he flies.

I get so unbelievably happy, but also die a little inside, every time I find a new detail on the unaired episodes of Moral Orel…

Made this for a contents and it’s the first of three times I’ve tried pumpkin carving that it didn’t come out looking like total dog shit
