Looking Back At Things Charlie Has Said Or Done I Would Not Be Surprised If Charlie Has Some Abilities
Looking back at things Charlie has said or done I would not be surprised if Charlie has some abilities we haven't learned yet, like being clairvoyant or a number of psychic abilities, that maybe even Quill doesn't know about.
In light of the season finale, I would like to say that perhaps, just perhaps, in the end, Charlie was not nearly as confused as we all thought when he asked if Ram and the Shadow King had sex.

Theory Number One: The Prince and Freedom Fighter
I recently started a character study about my favorite character, Charlie, from my new obsession BBC’s the Class and while going over the few concrete fact I gathered about him, along with the questions that have been circling my mind some theories have popped in to my head. Theories that refuse to leave and let me gather my thoughts and continued my character study like I would like, so I’m going to be doing separate post for them. Some Of this theory have a bit more strength than other, but I digress. Some of these theories hold, stand or completely rely on characterization points that I will fully explore in character study so I’m just going to give brief summary over those in depth explanations for now and tell you to wait. So here we go.
We are going to start off with one of my favorite theories so far(no, not how Charlie having unstated abilities) the connection with Quill. One of the reason I felt I had to start the character study was because I saw people hating on my fav. for reasons I took a completely other way than what they took it to mean or I saw it to have more in depth than it was clearly taken as. So I felt the need to to give a different view on it than those (because making angry noises at my computer and trying to explain it to my family, who’s never even heard of the show and don’t care clearly wasn’t working). In doing so I had to look at one of the Charlie’s most problematic character aspects, Quill. His treatment of her, his disregard for her and the basic morals and ethics of her ‘punishment, her isolation and so much more. Even more unsettling is the more I got in to his character it seemed to get even more twisted. As I found out more about Charlie and the muddier his relationship with Quill got, the clearer one thing got. And this I dare state isn’t even a theory but something I now take as a fact:
There is a whole lot more to there relationship than they would like people to believe.
After I came to this conclusion(character study) it stuck in the back of my head to I was re-watching again, and an idea formed and a fact stuck out. In episode one when explaining the conflict between their people Charlie mentions that his people tried to help hers, a fact she agree with but argues the end result of that ‘help’. Which but the question of ‘Did they know each other then?’
So here is my theory:
Quill met young Charlie when the Rhodian where trying to help the Quill and they grew attached(no, not romantically, eck. I don’t think there is anybody who ships that ship.) to each other, mutually attached or one-sided attached lonely Charlie following her all around until she begrudgingly held affection for the small Rhodian, your chose. Though I do have a leaning (hints at it,but not enough to back it up to be called a theory) that Charlie was abused (I will touch on it in character study) and his family, if not his entire people were afraid of him for some (*cough* Abilities *cough*) reason, then she found him while he was scared injured and told it was his fault and she wasn’t afraid, connection. Seriously, did you see his face in episode six where Mattuesz said he was afraid of him and the reaction that got, so not the first time someone he cares about was afraid of him. But if you don’t agree you can disregard that part, if you want.
Anyways, so the are in some way attached to each other in some form or other and Quill finds out what his people’s help would do to hers and she’s put in a position to chose. Use her connection to him to lasting maybe fatal damage to his people so hers might have a fighting chance or let her people continue to suffer at her people’s hand. She chose her people and it cost him greatly, his father and older brother, the only two people who protected him from the fear that his people held for him, both dead at her hand and him only barely alive because of a slight hesitation for her, become the last living heir to the throne at age seven when she flees( It seems like a really weird age for a child to start giving speeches not to mention makes it more heartbreaking). She becomes the leader of the freedom fighters and hears about ‘The Prince’ and sees her one weakness become the enemies strength and begins to hate herself for it so she becomes colder and more cruel.
He, on the other hand becomes the future leader of his people hearing about the heartless quill who only got close to him to harm to attack. He learned he will always ever be a tool, either to help or hurt his people and he swear he will help them. He grows even more isolated than he was having learned that a friend who is not your ally can do even worse damage than those who are your known enemies. With this knowledge he grows more guarded of his emotions and more aware of others, he learns that if he doesn’t control his emotion, the people around him, and the situation than, they will control him. He learns how to lie,how to manipulation, politics, strategies, how to make people see him as he wants to be seen and so much more but what he holds true to all to even after his entire world falls apart is how to hide. They both shape each other in ways no one would call positive.
Fast forward, years later and the war is finally coming to an end. The leader of the Quill is captured and about to standing before the throne of Rhodia. They see each other for the first time since her failure to kill him and end the royal line. She sees her failure, her weakness, her lost lonely little boy that use to follow her around with his quirky little smile and laugh, her boy because he was always more hers than any Rhodian in the room even his self important holier-than-thou mother, sitting on the throne besides her. There he was, the one she could never bring herself to end glaring down, seething at her, his eye cold as steel now with hatred where there had once been only a child’s love and adoration. The mother who fears, ignores, and uses her own child as if he was sword to wield when needed and to throw away when not. She sees them on their thrones, these people who were the very reason she had to do all she’s done, who are the reason her love is now forever lost to her. She has lost. It seemed she had lost everything now. She should have killed him, shouldn’t have let his eyes stop her. Or maybe she could have found another way, maybe she didn’t have to chose all those years ago. Looking at them she knew it was far too late now. She had lost everything now, everything but who she is: She is Quill and there was nothing left to do now but to die well. They would not see anything but a proud quill after all she did it for her people.
When he heard they captured her he froze, not physical or mentally but emotionally. The thing he always had the toughest time controlling his emotions, just stopped. They didn’t catch up until right before she was brought before them and even then they were steel, cold, heavy, ugly things that didn’t feel like his. All he could do was look at her, she showed no remorse, no reorganization. Like she wasn’t the one held him close as a child and like she hadn’t been the to fret over him when he was hurt which he always seemed to be then and for many years after, not that she knew that or cared. She looked through his mother and him. Like they weren’t even there, like they didn’t matter but he guessed to her they didn’t. He could feel his glare intensify, two another quill looked away. Androth (I have no idea if I spelled that right, but oh well) was unfazed. Any other before him would quake but then again she was never afraid of him, even when she should be. A stupid voice in the back of my head asked ‘If she is afraid of anything,’ sounding way to much like me as a child. He shoved that piece of himself away, not as easily as she obviously did but I managed. After all, All Quill are heartless.
Despite having discussed what to do as punishment to the Quill many times with his mother he didn’t know what she would do. His mother was one of the few being in the world who still, despite his efforts, had control over him instead of the other way around. Androth’s punishment would set the standard for all the others he had reminded her. Who knew if she was listening past the fact that he the reason this murder was even allowed close enough to her family to kill her mate along with her first and favorite son was urging her toward leniency. For he knew she blamed him, as rightfully so for their deaths. They couldn’t kill all of the Quill , no matter how much they wanted to, no matter their grief. He reminded her of his brother’s word whenever he could. A King must be ruthless, not heartless. One saying that the people she had murder had taken to say over and over again is the only thing standing between the Quill and extinction. He just hoped it was enough.
But the queen, the queen saw it all. She saw the hate in her monster of a son’s eye but underneath she saw the betrayal , the hurt, and pain the Quill had caused along with the longing, a longing that use to be directed at herself by the boy before. Before they had tried to help the Quill, before her mate and first born were taken from them, before her youngest had ever laid eyes on the beast. It made her feel like a failure. A mother who was afraid of her own son and she hated them more when she saw behind the mask of indifference the Quill wore that such pain, and longing was returned. Her descicion was made. The Arn, a creature from the old. She raised her hand and made her chose. A King should have a heart but she was no King, and they had ripped her heart out years ago.
“The Quill terrorists will take the Arn into them. They shall each be bond into servitude to a Rhodian. The leader and organizer of said terrorist shall be bound to my son the Prince Of Rhodia. The leader of the Quill to protect the future leader of Rhodia. Let this be their punishment.”
Androth tried to attack the Queen before her first sentence was finished and was removed from the throne room yelling, scream, kicking, and struggling to get free and show her disapproval at said sentence. He glances at his mother from the side, never breaking character, to confirm what he already knew. He had argued for mercy, and though he and her grown closer in their shared grief, she had no mercy in her left. Not for either of them.
She would be his responsibility forever. His life long enemy, as his companion, someone who has already proven he can never trust. As long as she lived he would be never be free from his betrayer and she would never be free of him. He would be the chain around her neck, The Prince. Everything she was fighting against made flesh. Each, the other’s never ending reminder of all they wish to forget. Yes this is their punishment. Hers and his.
“As is my duty as Prince of Rhodia. It shall be done.”
OK, wow that went from theory to fan fiction fast, lol. Totally did not mean to, bu obviously its been on my mind. Like a lot. So lets go back to theory and let me explains some of the things that led me here shall we.
-Restating the fact that there was obviously more than told to us going on there, and that their connection to each other goes so much deeper. Mostly in the above scene when they are staring at each other and just the language they use when explaining themselves and what they don’t explain. Charlie is very self contained, he rarely gives any information away about himself that he doesn’t have to (which makes when he does so much more important......, sorry lost in my Marlie shipping) so the biggest clues to there being a deeper link between them is what he doesn’t say, even when it’s been brought up several times. What Quill actually did. When people in the show start questioning how he treats Quill, he responds with a reference to what she did but never goes on to explain, not once.
-Charlie’s resentment of her is way to personal. In episode five when she tries to convince him to kill the Shadow Kin he take it for political my people and our people to whole self themed. He switches to about how he didn’t kill anyone and he would have tried to be a good leader when they were talking about their motivation for their actions before. Whatever she did, if I’m really close or way off target, hit very close and personal to him.
-Why the future leader instead of the current one. Wouldn’t it have made more sense to bond her with his mother. You know the leader of the Quill protecting the leader of the Rhodian.
-”They killed my mother.” We know he at least had a father if not siblings from when he was talking about not being loved to Mattuesz in episode 3 and when the Lin Kin tried to connect with him using said parents (Totally think it was the cabinet that stopped that by the way, not the whole we didn’t have a strong connection since the Lin Kin feed off release of grief and the closure that people get and close or not he is grieving. And as we know Charlie will lie to protect the cabinet.) So why didn’t he say they killed my parents or family. Cause they were dead before the Shadow Kin. Besides In episode two when Tanya says they doesn’t know what its like his response is “Everyone, I ever knew was murdered.” April goes to say how she’s sharing a heart with the alien how did that. His eye twitches and he takes this huge breath, like he had to stop himself from saying something, maybe that the Shadow Kin wasn’t the one how killed a lot of them.
-”It’s punishment” Puts a whole new spin on that line does it. I always thought it was funny
-He feels responsible for her and her actions, I can get why he might feel responsible for her death total in the canon verse but her herself along with her action doesn’t fit with the Charlie the made up on screen or hinted at is deeper.
-Charlie is Clingy/Needy with Quill, In a way he isn’t with any other characters, including Mattuesz. Even going back to the first episode before we knew their ‘story’ when she walked out and he asked where she was going it always felt like more along with forcing her to go to parents night. To me it almost sound like child begging for her attention and care and having a fit. Scary to think about huh. A child you hurt having that kind of power over you.
- Both of their wish-washy love/hate relationship. Do I really need to explain this one. Time it looks like general concern for him that seem to go beyond protecting him. Her trying to understand and connect with him in episode one ‘How are you not angry all the time.’ and in other little was through out the season. Him taking care of her when in hibernation, him noticing her moods and asking about it in episode one.
-Him trusting her with his safety but never with anyone else. And I know what your going to say, that its the Arn. She can’t harm him but think back episode one, He knows she is behind the missing kid and she found a loophole. Knows but it doesn’t concern him about his safety just others. Or even when he order her not to harm or kill April he put himself in between her and other as a way of protection with or without the Arn. In episode six when everybody thought it was Quill who had set up everything in detention, and they mentioned a loophole something he know she found before, he knew it wasn’t her. maybe because she had already had her chance to end him and didn’t take it. He knows she will willingly gave him unending unbearable pain but kill him no. And the at the end of episode six and again at episode eight. Not to mention her face when she thinks he is about to die in eight, right before she save him.
- “I Saved You” “And I saved you.” Doesn’t really need explaining but I gush anyway. Her voice, a remind, His voice, A shameful secret. She reminds him that she saved him like she’s looking for connection. How generally worried she sounded and looked in the flashback when she tells him to run. His concern for her while watching her fight, and going back to pick her up after she had fallen even though he has no excuse for it. The way he says it is not like he regrets but that he’s ashamed for it.
-He hasn’t order her to be be respectful or nicer. In episode one they both joke about putting a creature in her head to make her nicer but if you think about it he did. He can order her and she can’t disobey but he doesn’t
-Bickering. Ok, this one is kinda stupid but for the most part they to act and bicker like siblings, instead of sworn enemies. At times each seem to forget (him more than her) the complete lack of balance in power.
-Terrorist/ Freedom Fighter. The difference in how they see themselves and each other it stated pretty early on in episode one. The way they describe her. To him she a terrorist or as he calls her in the same episode is his tormentor, by the way the look on her face when he calls her that can you say loaded. To her he is quite simply a prince of her enemy or at least what she want us, him and everybody else to believe. In all honesty she probably wants to believe it to, She wants to only see him as a enemy Prince. Probably why she usually only calls him by his title, to reminder herself and who he is. Though I would guess that neither is as firm in their view as they would like us to believe. You can see it in his slight hesitation when describing the origins of their people’s conflict and her in constant reminder of his status “Prince” and her need to constantly justify her actions, when brought in to question.
-He’s Manipulation, and Her Isolation. Here something funny. I believe, not only is Charlie very self contained, he is also extremely manipulative and as we see at the end of episode on a very good l. Now not to say its a bad thing for the most in fact moments where I can identify his manipulation I can understand why. To him its better, its probably better if he’s in control. He was born a prince, raised to be the next king, he has been taught if he’s not in control its bad. So simply stated in his manipulations he’s usually trying to make something better, except for two thing the Cabinet and Quill and let’s be honest we can go back and forth about the Cabinet and his motivations, intentions, and ethics all month(really all month) but let just agree at least part of it is him trying to make it better, but what can’t be explained away with that excuse is his treatment of Quill. Funny enough its not even her slavery/punish issue that I’m talking about. Its him emotional manipulating her. I’ve read a lot of scathing comment, fan fictions, and reviews about Charlie being completely blind to her isolation and loneliness and not once have about something I though as clear as day but no one else saw or commented on it. Something that I think realizes the darker parts of his character so much more than anything and make him that much more interest and deep something we don’t even fully start to comprehend what we are seeing till the end of episode six, Charlie isn’t nearly as blind or clueless as anyone thinks. He know about her loneliness and isolation and uses. Do I think the Charlie we and the humans see everyday is a complete lie, no I think that is who he always wanted to be, always though he could be if he wasn’t a Prince. But he was and he’s darker and more skilled at manipulation than an of them could ever guess. And as we would out angry and hateful even in the tiniest bit to ones he loves the most (Mattuesz), let a lone one who know acknowledges themselves as his enemy.
In the first episode we see him ask about what has her upset, then again later in the season in episode four or five when she says she sounded happy proving he’s more than aware of her emotions and chose to ignore them in any other time. But what I’m further eluding to is that he intentionally withdraws or, doesn’t reaction, or blatantly ignore her very existence. If you look back in episode to when she reveals the inspector was a robot, you can see him clench and lick his lip to stop himself from reacting to her until he slips up when she mentions she kissed him and she catches him “ With the now your listen.” Not to mention his first initial reaction when she brought it up. He dismissed her, causing her to dig in deeper and her dejected expression when she realized nobody was going to ask her about the robot. We already know from episode when she asks him multiply times about his calmness, that his lack of reaction bothers her, so we know this is no where near the first he’s done it. And not the last time as we see in the end of episode three and more.
He use this for several different ways.
The first being to keep distance from her. No matter if you think I’m on something or its all just bull, you can’t deny, he doesn’t trust her and finding way to make sure he does get too attached to her seems like something he would try. In a way he’s protecting himself.
The Second is as punishment. He is anger and spiteful of her, its canon. He knows about loneliness, he knows how bad that can feel so he uses it like a weapon against her.
Thirdly, as another way to control her. Her isolation makes her easier to control and contain. He generally show concern for her hurting other people. Is it all about protecting them, no of course not, but it’s part of it.
Lastly avoidance. Seen in episode one, when he did ask her about how she was feeling she wanted to about how he was feeling. Why he seemed so ok, and as we see with Tanya and Ram in episode two that doesn’t always help. I don’t think he actually wants to talk about. Plus the whole holding on to the last shred of hope with cabinet thing, means he’s in no way ready to talk about to anyone, let alone her.But truthfully I think its combination of all of these reason behind his intentional isolation of her.
Damn that was long, sorry for any errors spelling or other wise. Agree, Disagree. Questions about my theory or find plot holes or something I missed for or against. I welcome one and all to come and argue, I mean debate with me. ******************************INSERT EVIL LAUGH...........HERE!!!!!!!!!*******

I can't be the only one afraid of the shot of Kylo's hand is hinting to the continuation of a Skywalker losing a hand in the second film thing. Like he stretches out his hand for Rey and it gets cut off.
