I am Omar from Gaza and my brother is Muhammad. He suffers from sclerosis, a family of 4 members. I hope everyone will help me receive treatment abroad 🚨🚨

This is the case of my remaining brother from the rest of my family who needs enough treatment and urgent surgeries and needs to travel abroad to perform them and this costs a high price so please look at our tragic condition and donate to us to save my only surviving brother from my family. Please save us from this hell 💔🙏

Also this rise of tumblr users determined to call all gofundme’s a scam over the smallest details is so telling of the average person’s ability to have empathy and understand the lengths a person will go to to help their family survive. Yes, Gazans are making multiple accounts, they are sending asks relentlessly, they are copying templates/formats text posts from each other, they are giving extreme and explicit details of their suffering, they are using google translate to try to reach as many people as possible, but wouldn’t you do the same if it was your family you needed for raise money for survival for? How can you not understand where they’re coming from before jumping to calling them scammers?

URGENT: Tawfik has 195 hours to pay off the second part of his tuition.

URGENT: Tawfik has 280 hours to pay his tuition. Done!

My other promotions

Updated: Sep 28

Member(s): @tawfikblog, @90-tawfik

Verification: @/90-ghost

Payment methods: PayPal, Venmo, Google Pay, credit/debit. Here is his aunt's Paypal for him where he can see the daily progress (proof under cut).

Sep 26: The goal is now different but the pace is the same. See under the cut for more details.

Summary: Tawfik's campaign needs to reach $5,200 USD by Oct 7 so he can pay off the second part of his tuition for university classes for the semester. Any additional funds will go towards textbooks (base cost $600), which I will post about later.

Current progress:

USD $ 1,087 3,702 / 5,200

(short term / 18,860)

Campaign details:

Tawfik is a software engineering student in Palestine trying to continue his education by enrolling in online classes at an Egyptian university.

He already raised roughly USD $2,500 in late July through a now closed Paypal campaign and paid the school as an application and reservation fee. This is nonrefundable.

His tuition can be split into 2 installments: one due Sep 30 (paid) and the other Oct 10.

This number accounts for additional fees, see math section below

He needs to get his campaign to $5,200 to pay off the second part of his tuition by Oct 7 so he can pay it by Oct 10, 12am in Egypt's timezone.

Fortunately, the way I've scheduled this gives some leeway but I'd rather we get the money in asap.

We will need to earn ~$200 a day.

Transfers to Tawfik take 2 days and his payment to the school is immediate.

He has another goal for $600 in textbook fews (not accounting for any additional fees and transfer times). I will update this post shortly after we pay off the second installment.

Math:

Please let me know if I screwed up the calculation somewhere.

Update Sep 26: I recalculated based on concrete donation amounts vs a safe overestimate. Basically, he needs $3,600 and not $3,700.

Goal 2 (Oct 7):

He needs an additional $1,200.

After gfm's 2.9% cut and 0.3 per an assumed 80 donations, he'd only have $1141.2

After 12% bank fee: $1004.26

After transfer fee of estimated $50: $954.26

To cover the above fees, he needs an extra $350 (I've accounted for the fees on this too).

$954.26 + $350 = $1550

$3625 is the amount already present in the campaign. $3625 + $1550 = $5175, rounded up to $5200.

The transfer fee is likely higher, but Tawfik should have some backup money from tuition 1 that I can calculate after he gets back to me with a concrete number after paying it off.

Goal 1 (Sep 27):

He only needs $3,500 in his gfm to get $2,050 with an estimated 120 donations (200 total donations)

($3,500 - $1,052) * 0.971 - (0.3 * 120) = $2342. This accounts for the gfm fee of 2.9% and $0.3 per donation.

$2342 * 0.88 = $2,061. This accounts for the 12% cut the bank takes and is what Tawfik gets.

This is cutting it too close for comfort so I'm setting the campaign goal to $3,600.

Older calculation:

Tawfik has already spent the $1,052 already earned to care for his family, so it is excluded from my calculation for now. From my memory, he had ~80 donations when I made this post.

His base tuition cost is USD $2,050. GFM will take 2.9% and $0.3 of an assumed 200 to 250 donations. The resulting fee is rounded up to $150.

His bank transfer fee is 12% of $2,050 - $150, which is $228. In the end, he only gets $1,672.

$2,050 + $600 + $1,052 (campaign money he already used) = $3,702. This can be rounded down to $3,700 as I am overestimating the number of donations.

So to cover additional fees, he'll need around an extra ~$600 (I've accounted for the fees on this too).

His bank transfer fee is 12% of $1,200 - $70, which is $136. In the end, he only gets $994.

So to cover additional fees, he'll need around an extra ~$375 (I've accounted for the fees on this too).

$3,600 + $375 + $994 = $4,969. This amount is an estimate and highly subject to change. I've overestimated the amount of donations needed to hit goal 1 and when we get there, we'll likely have already made an excess of funds that can go towards goal 2. I am not updating goal 1 because I don't want too many old versions of this post floating around causing confusion.

Update Sep 25: Tawfik saying to donate to his aunt's PayPal because his was having issues

Dear Friends and Supporters,🫶

I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart to share the desperate situation my family is facing in Gaza. Recently, our home was destroyed, leaving my family with no shelter. Right now, they are living in tents with winter fast approaching, and the conditions are becoming unbearable.

We have lost everything, and my family is struggling to survive. The cold, lack of basic necessities, and the uncertainty of their future have turned their lives into a living nightmare. With winter approaching, their situation grows even more critical.

In addition to needing basic supplies and shelter, I am also hoping to help my family leave Gaza and relocate to Egypt for safety. Living in these conditions has become unbearable, and moving to Egypt would provide them with a chance for stability and a safer environment.

I am humbly asking for your help. Any contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in helping my family escape this devastating reality, rebuild their lives, and relocate to safety. Your generosity and support will provide them with the chance to have a safe, warm place to call home and a fresh start.

Please consider donating to help us during this incredibly difficult time. Together, we can make a difference and bring hope back to my family.

Reema's campaign is NOT done yet. She needs school supplies.

Short term deadline (laptop): $21,800 by Oct 20

My other promotion lists

Updated: Sep 28

Member(s): @reemash46 (shadowbanned), @reema16 (shadowbanned), @reemagaza (Reema), IG: reema_shurr (confirmed hers, see under cut for proof)

Verification: Operation Olive Branch Masterlist #18

Payment methods: Credit/debit, Paypal through my Kofi (Be warned that Paypal takes a cut. I will post proof of donation within 24h under the 'receipts' tag)

Summary: Reema is an evacuated Palestinian studying pharmacy abroad in Egypt (read this post for more context). The current short term goal is CAD $21,800 for a new laptop (including gfm and banking fees) by Oct 20. See under the cut for details.

Current progress:

CAD $ 20,051 20,071 / 21,800

(Short term / 25,000, no deadline)

CAD is weak compared to other common currencies. Your donation can go a long way.

Campaign details:

Read the first campaign details post for what happened in this campaign so far. I also added some explanation on her financial situation and where the money she already raised is (summary: she can't get it quickly due to banking restrictions).

Reema needs a new laptop after losing her old one.

The laptop she wants is USD $1,200 or CAD $1,629. Taking into account gfm and transfer fees, I've estimated that it'll cost $1,800. This number is subject to change with additional details.

She needs the laptop before her tests in early November. To account for shipping times and preventing procrastination, I've set the deadline to Oct 20.

Additional funds will go towards other school supplies and providing for Reema's family in Palestine because they've supported her.

Sep 22: It's unclear when Reema can access the $15k already earned (hence some uncertainty about deadlines), but I haven't been able to get full answers as she got a bad case of the flu and isn't online often. However, I don't want this campaign to drag on forever when her family could still use funds, so I'd like to get this laptop deal over with soon.

Misc:

Reema on IG confirms the Tumblr is hers
