this has been said before but I feel like it is very important to view being kind as something you do rather than something that you are because all people have the capacity for meanness and cruelty and often use it inadvertently but the point is to change your behavior and your attitude and practice paying attention and being selfless and sincere and vulnerable and putting kindness and warmth into your actions and words instead of being like oh I value kindness and thus I am such a good person. like it’s about the attempt

idk why i’ve seen people complaining more and more often about how people in the dca fandom interpret sun and moon, but i am

listen, as a biblically accurate dca truther and a huge fan of canon compliant dca i understand how frustrating it is for your favorite character to be heavily misinterpreted, i get it. i do. it can be frustrating how little “canon” dca stuff there is. (i say “canon” because that word can be used very loosely within the context of fnaf)

but at the same time, spewing hate on others’ characterization, redesigns, or aus of the dca simply because you don’t like it? or bc it’s not canon compliant??

this is the one fandom i’ve been in where there’s been so much support and love for all kinds of art/writing/interpretations of the dca. honestly the most creative, positive, and chill fandom i’ve ever experienced, i love it.

i’m just concerned that the idea of people’s interpretations of the dca being “wrong” is going to spread and could be actually harmful if it goes too far.

i get the jokes about early interpretations of sun and moon as goofy as hell and pick me or whatever the fuck and how it skewed people’s perceptions of them. but like,, okay and?? just let them be!! i get it, it’s cringe or whatever, something something media literacy. but no one’s getting hurt!!

so for fucks sake just let people have fun, we all like jesters here man its not that serious

Idk if this counts because it’s less about the shows and more about the circumstances surrounding them, but I wanted to say this somewhere. Long post ahead.

As someone who’s been watching Kat and Davis for years, some of the new people finding them through TSBS irk me a little. I’m talking specifically about the people who go on their streams, personal channels, Discord servers, etc. and talk about the shows when they have explicitly set boundaries on not doing so (at least on their Discord servers and streams). And I don’t mean people who are respectful and understanding of their boundaries after being told no once, I mean the people who find any opportunity to insert TSBS into the conversation even when it isn’t relevant, people who only comment to hound them about plot points and characters, and people who treat the VAs as if they are their characters. And after seeing all the other stuff that goes on in this fandom, I can understand why they don’t want to interact with it when they’re not “on the clock”, so to speak.

It just feels like people are only looking at their other stuff because of TSBS, and not because they want to support them as creators. Feel free to check out their stuff by all means, but don’t treat them as an extension of the shows.

Also, please keep in mind that not everything that happens is because of the plot, which may sound weird but I’m saying this as someone who saw this stuff happen with their MCRPs. Sometimes VAs may be unavailable so they have to improvise (especially since they’re uploading daily). Some character interactions may be difficult because they share the same VA. Improvised bits may end up becoming running jokes or even plot points either because the creator liked it or the fans did. Certain things like fight scenes may not be how you wanted them to be because of the limitations of VRChat. Sometimes they get burnt out with writing and producing a series and it really starts to show in the videos. In general, just remember that this is a VRChat web series being made for a paycheck with restrictions on the writing from the company they work for. Sometimes circumstances are out of people’s control, whether it be the fans or the creators.

(Also I know I only brought up Kat and Davis here, but this applies to Reed and all other creators involved with TSBS.)

It's come to the point where I can't post my art of two characters being silly together without people tagging it with the ship tag of those two characters or going into the comments or my askbox asking if I ship those said characters. I understand that shippers are the majority of every fandom ever, but people who aren't interested in any type of shipping exist in fandom spaces too. And that doesn't automatically mean that we're AroAce. People seem to think: "not interested in shipping = AroAce = bad" Like why? Maybe we just want silly blorbos being silly blorbos. Let us exist in fandom spaces without you pushing your ships onto us, and that includes tagging our art with a ship tag when it isn't a ship art. And with all due respect, don't push us into participating in shipping either.
