Also does anyone know if the in-game songs (besides the credits) have official lyrics? I wanna do a songfic to Long Ride Home but idk the lyrics. Or if they even made lyrics.

And if they DIDNT, I’m 100% basing it off of my headcanon that it’s a love song about a soldier in Vietnam coming back to the US to see his family and his love. Cuz I was like why would a song about traveling be so important to Marie and George but then I was like oh it’s probably a love song about coming home to your partner and family after being away for a while, and obviously the Vietnam war was the major conflict going on when they were growing up so.

So I replayed the game and picked up a few cool things this time around that I think are neat

-when Marie kills Jimmy, she’s standing in the middle of the crowd beforehand. During carries call, after the other teens kinds bully her and push her around a little, you can hear Marie breathing heavily in her mask to the point Carrie mentions that if it’s so hard to breathe they should take off the mask. Obviously masks are difficult to breathe in as Marie points out at the end of the game, but I think her breathing was loud at that point specifically because hearing those kids taunt Carrie about being scared from the prank brought her back to when Marie herself was pranked in the same way, causing her to get a bit more emotional than some other kills and make Jimmy’s death one of the most gruesome in the series

-You can also hear Henry breathing in his mask after he kills Maurice before he hangs up, but it sounds less strained and more slow, but his heavy breathing also came AFTER killing someone, not before like Marie with the teens, so he did just do some pretty gnarly exercise lol. He seems to have trouble with figuring out how to hang up the phone too.

-in the endgame, Henry will look over at the poster board that has his mom’s high school yearbook picture on it and stare at it for a bit.

-you can actually find a flyer for the woodside apartments that says there will be no pets and that it isn’t even opened yet, providing further evidence ‘Dawn’ is lying through her teeth.

-if you never play long ride home even after you get it, Forrest apologizes to ‘Dawn’ for forgetting

-Jeanie has a crush on Jimmy (she also writes his name as Jimmie)

I honestly think one of my favorite pieces of dialogue in the entire game purely because of the ~vibes~ is after you save Jason and he tells you that your fictional murder mommy crush has a canon pet name (thank you team 17 doing the lords work) and how when George died he heard her screaming/crying, he goes

“I heard her again tonight, Forrest”

Now this line most likely is referring to the fact that she spoke with him before stabbing him and he’s recollecting how haunting it was to hear her voice after so many years, but because he described her screaming/crying in grief RIGHT before that line, it makes me imagine that like before Jason was stabbed Marie was just wandering in the forest wailing and crying like Roxanne Wolf meets La Llorona before pulling herself together to do murders and Jason heard that shit and thought it was like a hallucination from the guilt cuz it’s the anniversary.

Again that’s probably not literally what he meant but that’s always what I pictured and it’s such a vibe. I love me some spooky
