Trellock the pathetique cringefail thx for introducing them to me XD

niche rezero side character trellock (The gustekan shapeshifter serial killer of all time) is so fascinating for a character who was briefly on screen then disappeared into the wings in an instant. trellock wants humanity and tangible identity to fill in that gaping emptiness that is the entity known as “trellock” and the fact that we know next to nothing about trellock and how they’ve appeared or turned out this way kind of hammers it in. they are nothing except their warped personality amalgamated and frankensteined out of their tiny little trail of stolen identities fighting in a desolate snowy nation like everyone else in it. they simultaneously look down on humanity but they want to be human so badly they wander about and yank onto the nearest human that catches their eye and steal their name, their body, their personality. and then they play pretend at being human like making a mannequin come to life and expecting it to do tricks. trellock is simultaneously like an addict looking for their next high and a child screaming about how badly they want someone else’s toy. they put a self-imposed rule of killing the people they steal and ripping their faces off as if to prove that they’ve truly won over their victims, as if they’ve tied up lose ends and that identity is theirs for the taking now, but then they break their own damn rule after failing to kill someone because they need to have their cake. they cant let it get away. but trellock looks down on humanity because there is something barren and rotten with them and if they didnt look down on humanity and everyone around them then theyd have to face their own hollowness and inferiority. this is why they’re always yearning to be anyone they want to be by trampling on other people’s corpses. everyone suffers in gusteko. everyone is searching for humanity and losing it in gusteko. trellock never exactly had it in the first place, not in the same way as most other people, but they think they can be better at acting as everyone they steal while they run from everything they’ve always lacked. imagine you are trellock and you long for something everyone else has but the world has already stolen it from them as they grew up but it’s like you popped into existence without it at all so you’re trying to pick at the remains like a vulture and then melt the carcass into your new and totally improved self that definitely won’t just keep doing this until you die.

anyway i think if trellock discovered fursuits and theatre theyd be way healthier. they simply have gray hair and pronouns !!!

something something madohomu can now only ever be one sided because maybe at the start when life was simpler they could've been something together but homura created dissonance between them to save madoka and fails to forgive herself for her mistakes and further hides herself away from a madoka that does not recognize her precisely because she has bent herself out of shape trying to save madoka all without daring to let madoka love her, something something madoka loves everyone but cannot love homura the way that homura loves madoka they are an eternally, comically separated love

And finally, last but certainly not least, our favorite loser cringefail time-traveler-by-dying-a-lot, Subaru!

Unsure how obvious it is, but a majority of the details in Subaru’s outfit are directly related to Homura’s outfit for what should be obvious reasons. Even his boots are based off of concept art from Homura’s outfit. I also wanted to give him almost a jester theme, which is most prominent in his pants, inspired by the fact that his tarot card from some of the special addition novels (iirc) is the fool card (I also gave him this theme, along with the design of his hood, to resemble a certain mega witch :) this is also the reasoning behind the prominent ‘gears’ motif in his weapon and soul gem design).

His weapon is a cat of nine tails whip based on the one he has in the novels and apparently season three according to the new trailer (hype!!!). Though it’s a cat of nine tails, it only has seven tails with stars at the end to represent his namesake. Stars are not only prominent in his weapon and soul gem design, but all of his design. In fact, I put several star motifs in all of the magi designs that I have done! If you have a keen eye you may have noticed that already! :)

And with Subaru’s design finished, I’m done with all of the magi designs I’m going to do! Finally! I may do aspects of the seven witches of sin’s designs in this au and definitely the characters’ individual witches at a later, more appropriate date, for the sake of not spoiling this au’s plot for anyone. And yes, I have decided to make this an official au after all! I will announce more information on this later on with a surprise for y’all, but for now this is the end of the magi design line up. But as a whole this is just the beginning… :)

I’ll say what I said in the Emilia design post again, but it really makes me happy even a few people love my ideas and designs so much, as cliché as it is to say. Really, thank you, it means the world to me :) I’m also excited and eagerly awaiting the upcoming results for the Re:Zero zine contributors, I can’t wait!

It’s Emilia!

I don’t really have much to say about her in regards to what her powers or wish would be in relation to her design since in my au she hasn’t made a contract (yet… ;) and talking about it here would be spoilers lol), but what I can say is that I wanted her outfit to be very reminiscent of Madoka’s magical girl form (you know, for the Homura x Madoka / Subaru x Emilia parallel) (also some Satella elements like the roses because, you know :) ). I also took note of the spin-off magical girl event in the game Lost in memories where they have magical girl designs for some of the characters, and they happened to have one for Emilia, so I took a lot of inspiration from her outfit used there. Since the majority of y’all voted for her to have the main color in her outfit be white, I went with that for her top and boots and made most everything else a different shade of purple.

A quick aside, I really want to thank all of you who voted on the poll and gave positive comments/ feedback on not just the designs that I’ve made so far but on the art that I’ve been posting here since last year. I know saying this is cliché (and even saying it’s cliché is too) but it really does mean a lot seeing so many people like my art and my ideas. I have been posting art for a while now (on Instagram but I’m pretty new here so bear with me 😂) but I have never really seen as much engagement with my stuff as I have on other platforms and I’m really happy about that :) I have a hell of a lot more to make and show you not only about this au but in general, and I am so glad all of you will be able to see it and I hope you like it to. Thank you for everything so far!

Now with the sappy shit out of the way, I’ll go over a few last thoughts I had about Emilia’s weapon and soul gem.

I didn’t know what to give her for a weapon since in canon she makes a lot of her weapons out of ice, so I just decided to give her a typical magical girl wand/staff since I thought it would fit her and it’s what she wields in the Lost in Memories spin-off. I made the staff look similar to Madoka’s bow (again, parallels) with elements of the concept art for the magical girl rings in pmmm and of Madoka’s soul gem at the bottom. The crystal star shape on top of the wand is also a Madoka reference because it’s the same star on her grief seed and Law of cycles symbol / witch kiss. I also made it crystal sort of call back to Puck’s crystal.

Now for Emilia’s soul gem I made it look like a certain key that appeared in season two… It was based on the comment by a certain someone that said something along the lines of “imagine you are the key.”… This character is very important to this au not just in the world of Lugunica… :)

So the next design I'm doing is Emilia's (potential) magical girl design, and I'm on the fence about some of the colors in her outfit and need a second opinion. So, without giving too much away...

"Both Lye of Gourmet, Roy of Bizarre Eating! Know absolu~tely nothing! From one to the next, thoughtlessly unbridledly eating messily like a bunch of idiots...... For our sake, who are locked up here and don't have the freedom to choose? Don't make us laugh, hopeless siblings ~tsu!"

I literally had no idea what to do for the gluttony trio, but I did know that I wanted them to have matching outfits because (I assume) they’re triplets and I thought it would be cute :) I made their outfits similar to Rui’s in canon outfit, with some elements of the three great demon beasts that each of them respectively represent (their ‘animals’ are also represented in their soul gems!) . Where Lye’s shawl comes together looks like a whale’s tail + the whale on his back, Rui’s bunnies on her socks, and Roy’s scarf being like a snake and his weapon being like snake fangs. Their weapons are a variation on the traditional witch cult dagger that Lye typically uses, but each of them have different kinds of knives: Lye has a corner tang wrist knife (because in his canon outfit his knives are tied to his hands), Roy has a pika knife meant to resemble snake fangs, and Rui has a push dagger that looks the most like the witch cult daggers. I gave them color schemes based on their eyes, so I decided to make Roy more yellow-green because of how his eyes are depicted in the light novel as yellow and green. I also made Rui’s skin tone slightly darker to make her look a bit more like her brothers but still standing out / kind of different.

The authority from a wish doc says that Rui’s wish is ‘to become happy’ and ‘to go outside’, but doesn’t really expand on what the boys’ wishes would be, and Rui’s whole situation with being stuck in the Corridor of Memories so she wouldn’t have a physical soul gem is confusing to navigate in this au, especially since I haven’t read the novels yet. So for now what I’m going to say is that the boys wished to be able to make Rui happy by getting her other people’s memories according to their own philosophies (Lye quality, Roy quantity), and the wish Rui would make would be to go outside and that’s how she would get into the physical world like she does in the novels. I still think that she would have her ‘authority’ though because of her brothers’ wishes and would still be able to possess them.

"Because I want to be one with you — you finally noticed the wish that I'd been praying for!"

Sirius’ outfit is a wedding dress / wedding themed! I made this her motif because of her obsession with Petelgeuse and because of the whole ‘becoming one’ thing reminding me of marriage / wedding vows, stuff like that. I didn’t know whether to incorporate her bandages or not, and in the end decided against it + opted to just cover as much of her bare skin as possible like with the veil, sleeves, and purple fabric above the shoulders. I gave her a spiked collar and spiky halo-like hairpiece + put her hair in a ponytail (maybe that’s a little hard to tell ahaha) to give her kinda punkish elements to her, twisting the ‘purity’ of the wedding theme a bit to subtly reflect her instability (and because it looks cool). I didn’t want her to just have a regular old wedding dress cause I thought it would look kind of bland compared to the other magi designs, so I added some fire elements to her dress that I think turned out really well :) . I also had the genius idea to make her hooks double as weaponized wedding rings to go with the outfit’s aesthetic. Her hooks are connected together to also symbolize ‘becoming one’ / the unity of marriage, that sort of thing.

The authority from a wish doc says that her wish was for love / believes love is to become one, so her wish would grant her ‘soul-washing’ powers. Her abilities make her extremely dangerous to other magi…
