You’re not proud of what happens next.

You’re not proud of the way you shoot to your feet but it’s a purely primal thing, the sudden burst of adrenaline at being caught in such a compromising position. You stand up too quickly, the dizziness making you teeter, blood rushing to your head. The fear and adrenaline pumping through your body are both misplaced, but it’s too hard to sort through what’s really happening. You are at once a victim of your instincts and a conduit for them. Little more than fear living with a pulse.

And below that, a single thought- a horrifying realization; You have forgotten what it feels like to be afraid.

Jungkook has another seizure the day after you and Tae stay up. Whether it happened in the middle of the night while he was sleeping or maybe when he woke up sometime through the morning no one’s quite sure. 

They’re particularly tricky to catch when they happen that way- when the fever blur of Jungkook’s subconscious gives way to a different kind of sensation, dream to seizure and seizure to dream and back again- all without waking.

Taehyung is a little thankful honestly and maybe that makes her a selfish asshole that she has this to contend with when she blinks awake, rather than thinking about what happened last night or the secret that lingers known by the two of you now.

An oppressive heavyweight that somehow- doesn’t suffocate, like a blanket or a hug and not like a cage. A secret known by two people isn’t much of a secret at all.

You should have expected it would be one of them. Should have, because if you think about it too hard you can feel the panic already tugging down your mating mark. The sudden and urgent anxiety that tells you Yoongi is awake, and that he knows that you’re gone.

But really, Hoseok snuck up on you. You’re twitchy on a good day and neither of you can be held responsible for what happens.

You whip around when his hand touches your shoulder, The racing panic makes your hands shake when you pull the gun out of your pocket in one fluid movement and back up, foot treacherously balancing on the edge of the platform. If you were any less aware of your center of gravity you’d fall down the 6 feet and to the tracks below.

“Holy shit!” Hoseok has quick reflexes, ducks out of the way of the gun the second he registers it’s being thrust in his face. It takes you a second to realize what (or more importantly who) you’re looking at.

At least the gun doesn’t actually go off. You just stand there pointing it at him for a second. Hand sweaty on the metal. Heart thundering in your ears louder than an oncoming train. faintly rumbling down the tracks. 

It takes another second for you to summon your words, too sluggish. A moment where Hoseok looks up at you with wide and terrified eyes, like you’re the monster here. “What the actual fuck are you thinking!?”  

“Hoseok?” you say in disbelief. A look of surprise etched on your face underneath the hood of what can only be Yoongi’s sweatshirt.

Hoseok’s heart is pounding in his ears, in time with yours. “Yes! Now would you put that away!? How the fuck do you even have a gun?!”

in comparison to asking Yoongi if they could move in, Walking into the den after getting that call from Jin felt like walking into a battlefield.

Maybe because Yoongi had at least been happy with Joon when he’d asked his question “Is it okay if we move in? To the house? Today? I know it’s short notice but-” was the moment Yoongi’s been waiting for since he bought the house, every ounce of hard work collateral- and now the payoff. But excitement and anxiety war in Yoongi’s heart.

Things have been far from smooth recently and it doesn’t look like the waters are calming anytime soon. But they’re going to live here; they’re going to be there every morning when he wakes up and every night when he goes to sleep. His family, his pack he can’t believe it’s finally happening.

there had been a time when yoongi had feared he would never get that again, not be on the receiving end of coffee coated kisses and sleepy relived smiles. the kind that people who love you give when they wake, the look that says “i knew it wasn’t worth dreaming any longer when I’ve got you to wake up too” 

Yoongi will never take that simple pleasure for granted again, will count his lucky stars and then count them twice because this is better than any wish he could make on a shooting star- or a dandelion, and birthday cake candle, Yoongi will always wish for more and more time with them.

The youngest pup, in particular, has been trailing after you and Yoongi alot recently.

Geumjae’s body flinches back from the force of the bullet. The ceiling splattering with the spray of his blood.
