Title: What Should Have Happened

Aziraphale froze in surprise when Crowley pulled him close and kissed him deeply. This was something he had desired for centuries, and seeing Gabriel and Beelezebub getting to be together, well Aziraphale was more than a little jealous and wanted this even more. He slid and arm around Crowley's waist, cupping his cheek with his other hand and kissing them with just as much passion and love.

He completed shoved all thoughts aside of going to Heaven with Metatron, of being head Archangel.

Aziraphale's true heaven was not a where, but a who. Crowley.

The moment Crowley felt their angel kissing back, they held him tighter, softening their kiss a bit as tears spilled down their cheeks. After a bit, they pulled back. "Angel, there's something you need to know."

They took off their glasses and looked directly in Aziraphale's eyes. "I love you, Angel. I've loved you for so many centu-"

He was cut off by a gentle kiss from Aziraphale.

"I know, Crowley. And I love you." He hugged the startled demon tightly, refusing to let them go. "And I've changed my mind. I'm not going to Heaven. I renounce my role as head Archangel. All I want, no all I need- is to be with you, Crowley. For as long as you'll have me, anyway."

"Forever, Angel, I want you forever."

"Then forever it is, my dear."

"Forever and always, Angel."
