never (d&d character's father's backstory)

    One day, my older sister, Nyfyx, told me that the townspeople didn’t like dad, he just manipulated them with his magic. I didn’t believe her, of course. Dad would never do that. Then Nyfyfx went to talk with dad, shouted at him, and suddenly was silent. She acted like she was friendly with dad, for about an hour, than came into my room. “He charmed me. He charmed me. I didn’t think he’d do it to his own daughter” she said, I still remember those words. I then believed her, but didn’t know what to do about it, so I pretended like nothing happened.

night (Jacen & Tristan)

“Hello? It’s the middle of the night,” he says. "It’s Jacen. I’m at your apartment.” “What? Wait there a moment,” The call ends.

normal (space suit story)

I take apart the condenser and try to figure it out. It looks like according to me, the one who’s basically only supposed to try and fix things if everyone else is dead, that one of the tubes is clogged. I take it apart and luckily nothing comes pouring out. However, it seems the tube was not clogged. I try to put it back but it doesn’t work. I start trying to force it on, and then one of the tubes gets dented. Now there is no way I can get it back on normally. I don’t want to leave it off. Then there is no way it will work. I just duct tape it into place and hope that it will work.

We reach the office, and Professor Lahise holds the door open for me. My dad is sitting there, hair tied neatly back, legs crossed. If he’s here it can’t be anything good. Honestly, at this point I should probably just answer whatever questions honestly. They wouldn’t call my dad here if they weren’t certain.

At first, she thought perhaps he’d noticed her, but she quickly realized that couldn’t be true. He wasn’t looking at her. He showed no signs of alarm. In fact, if she didn’t know better…the deep, rapid breaths he was taking…the strange mix of tension and bliss in his expression—

Marisa’s eyes flared wide when it dawned on her what was happening. Blood rushed to her face even as the jolt of realization made her heart rate spike. Embarrassment flooded over her even though she hadn’t done anything.

Any second, she expected the man to notice her as she stood at the door, frozen in shock. But he didn’t. Of course he didn’t. He was distracted. Thoroughly distracted.
