This is a snippet from my current wip Sunny Mage, taken from Interlude II - THE HORN & THE HALO:

“Your mom’s sins aren’t yours.”

“They still happened.”

Sunny balled up her fists. “You know what happens to the champions, and you still wanna win this thing?"

"Course I do." Harmony pried open Sunny's balled-up fists and let the fabric of her collar loose. It hung low at Harmony's cleavage, all wrinkled and tainted. Much like tonight. “I can’t change my last name or the family I came from, but maybe I can make it honorable again, into a name that I’d be proud to wear. You should get that.”

That's the thing, Sunny did. She understood the itch to push towards being something more. To become something that no one ever imagined. Sunny should be happy. Harmony finally had a goal worth fighting for. But all Sunny felt was the foulness of dread seeping into her bones.

“I’ll see you out there.” Harmony left her alone at the windowsill.

Sunny watched her go.

I'm doing NaNo, so this excerpt will definitely have some edits later lol but I'm letting myself just write for now. Editing will happen later. This is taken from book 4 in my Castle series. It's my backup NaNo wip (which I'm getting more writing done for than my main NaNo wip oof)

"We have discussed this, Aero," Saben said. "We are not going back through the entire jungle just so that you can avoid the sand. You agreed that it would save us much time to just follow the island's coast."

"I did agree," Aero agreed.

"Then why are you costing us that much time?"

"Sand."

Shaking his head, torn between laughing and sighing, Saben stood from where he’d been crouched over his brother in an attempt to make him get up on his own. Then he grabbed Aero’s arm and began dragging him from the nest.

Aero cursed again.

“You can just rinse the sand off in the ocean,” McKenna pointed out.

He let his blanket fall away so that he could glare at her while Saben dragged him from the den.

My Pokémon Violet preorder comes in the mail tomorrow but I’ve got work all day, ugh... 

Beginnings.

A fire raged in the forest, and Sunny stood at the center of it.
