you already know about eddie x reader metal lords!au, but can we please talk about a sing street!au now?

eddie has just moved to hawkins with his uncle and consequently, has to attend a new school. still gathering his bearings, he develops a crush on a certain girl who hangs out at hawkins high school without attending any of the classes.

nobody knows who she is, but rumors travel fast and soon enough, eddie finds out some interesting things about her. like, "she has a boyfriend who's thirty, i think", that's what one of the freshmen, dustin, tells him. "he's been to jail and everything. you don't want to mess with her"; or when robin, one of his classmates, revealed to him that "she's a model, you know? she has plans to go to new york and shit." whispers in the hallways told him that she was completely out of his league and worst of all, out of limits.

but he never cared too much about that, anyways. and that's exactly why he is standing right in front of her, even though dustin and mike repeatedly cautioned him to spare himself the trouble of trying to get to know her. of course eddie didn't listen to them and was now making a fool of himself in front of her, desperately trying to search for her eyes behind the thick sunglasses that covered them. at least, now he knew her name and that she was, in fact, a wannabe model.

"i'm waiting for my portfolio shots to come in the mail, then, i'm off to new york", that's what she tells him, with a bit of arrogance in her voice, not even bothering to look him in the face.

"yeah, that's exactly what i wanted to talk to you about." that seemed to catch her attention since she turned to face him. "i have a band and we are looking for someone to star in our videos."

liar. liar. liar.

"that sounds cool. what do you play?"

"i'm the vocalist, but i also play guitar."

"i see. and who's in your band?"

"robin", he blurted out, regretting it immediately. might as well just go with it now, eddie thought. "robin buckley, she's our bassist. and steve harrington's the drummer."

she didn't say anything for a few moments, but very skeptically asked, "why don't you give me one of your demos? so i can see if it's actually worth it to risk my modeling career for you, that is."

"y-yeah, totally, like, absolutely." he confirmed, nodding excitedly in her direction. eddie reached for the pen he kept in his back pocket and offered it to her, also standing his other hand. "gimme your number?"

she simply nodded and scribbled her digits on the back of his pale hand. the round numbers were a bit messy but still readable, and that was enough to make a smile appear on eddie's face. "i'll call you, yeah?" he asked while taking back the pen from her soft hand, and didn't even give her a chance to say goodbye because he was already running back to the school's front door.

eddie was greeted by mike and dustin, who stared at him like he was some other-world creature. it's like they couldn't believe that someone talked to that girl and still could smile afterward. nevertheless, they waited for him to say something. "we need to form a band", eddie informed the boys, who could only gasp in return.

"what!?"

─ boy meets girl. girl is unimpressed. boy starts band.
