This scene was beautiful. Absolutely perfect.
It was devastating; yet the way Anne comforts Gilbert in such a horrific circumstance shows her love for him (whether platonic or romantic at this point). Itβs such a beautiful development from her reactions to his grief in season one.
And the way Gilbert grips onto Anne . . . His hand holds tightly onto her like sheβs his rock. Sheβs the one keeping him grounded and giving him the strength to get through this. Not to mention that Anne is the one who lets go, and not Gilbert. Itβs so beautiful and heartbreaking. Brilliant job by the film crew for this scene!
