This Scene Was Beautiful. Absolutely Perfect.
This scene was beautiful. Absolutely perfect.
It was devastating; yet the way Anne comforts Gilbert in such a horrific circumstance shows her love for him (whether platonic or romantic at this point). Itโs such a beautiful development from her reactions to his grief in season one.
And the way Gilbert grips onto Anne . . . His hand holds tightly onto her like sheโs his rock. Sheโs the one keeping him grounded and giving him the strength to get through this. Not to mention that Anne is the one who lets go, and not Gilbert. Itโs so beautiful and heartbreaking. Brilliant job by the film crew for this scene!

Something I just love about Anne with an e is how it gives me so much courage for life. This last episode was draining, emotionally, and I am so upset and devastated, but the show gives hope. Even when upsetting things happen, it focuses on the good in them - from everyone gathering to say goodbye to Mary, to Matthewโs moments with Delphine, Anne comforting Gilbert.
AWAE holds your hand and says:ย โIt isnโt going to be easy, but itโs going to be alright.โ Sad things happen in life, but a lot of good things happen too. As long as you have people that love you, and believe in yourself, that is what matters most, you can get through anything.
So far, that seems to be a theme, even more, this season, with Cole saying what he did: that he was grateful for Anneโs sad past because of who it made her and how it saved him. And now this episode with the bittersweetness of Maryโs death, and her saying how she was grateful for knowing so she can say goodbye. And Anne saying how her orphaned past made her able to care for Delphine.
Anne said it perfectly in a phrase which I canโt remember word perfectly, but something like โsometimes life hides gifts in the darkest of placesโ
I hope Moira continues to carry this through.
