Dazai:... Atsushi why do you follow that system here?

Atsushi: Well duh, how else will I know I've earned the right to eat good food, to sleep, to exist and all that.

Jotaro and Kakyoin meet as kids in their school office.

Was intended to be Jotakak but could be read as platonic.

"...So..." The small, red-haired boy started, staring at the other boy sitting next to him in their school's office, "Why are you here?"

"..Me?" The other, slightly taller boy responded.

"Yes you, who else?"

The black-haired kid pauses for a few moments before responding, "I got into a fight." He stated simply.

"You..What?"

"I got into a fight, that's why I'm here."

"oh." The two sat in silence for a few minutes, neither really knowing how to -or if they even should- continue the conversation. "why?"

"He pissed me off, so I beat him up. Why are you here?"

"oh, I, uh, a kid in my class beat me up a bit..." he trailed off a bit, diverting his gaze to the ground. "I'm waiting for my mom to come and get me."

"oh." There's another awkward pause "..Do you what me to beat him up for you?"

"No! No, no, you don't need to do that!"

"If you're sure."

The two sit there, as another kid leaves the principle's office, glaring at Kakyoin a bit before taking a seat on the other side of the room.

"What's your name?'

"..Jotaro, what's yours?"

"Noriaki Kakyoin."

"Well, it's nice to meet you Noriaki."

"It's nice to meet you too Jotaro!" Noriaki felt.. nice. Despite the fact that Jotaro had just told him a few minutes ago that he beat someone up bad enough that they weren't currently in the office with them he didn't feel nearly as scared of him as he was of the other kids. He felt almost safe with Jotaro, not as safe as he felt alone, when it was just him and green, but he still felt safe. Safer than before, at least.

Before either of them could start an actual conversation, a tall woman with bright red hair entered the room and Noriaki stood up, "That's my mom, bye Jotaro!" He said, waving, as he walked up to his mother. Jotaro just watched and nodded his head as a response. It wasn't long before Jotaro's mom showed up as well.

Jotaro and Noriaki started hanging out after that. Noriaki had ended up getting moved into Jotaro's class so the two were together almost all of most days. Neither of them had ever really had friends before, it was nice.

Noriaki quickly learned that that hadn't been the first fight Jotaro had been in, and it certainly wouldn't be the last. Jotaro very much thought with his fists first and his head later, but even when he did think with his head, he came to the conclusion that beating the shit out of them was the right choice. Over the years of their friendship the number of people he got into fights with went to being less people who pissed him off to being people who made fun of Noriaki. Noriaki tried to stop him, but it never really worked.

Noriaki had told him about green, and Jotaro had opened up to him a bit about how his dad was never there and how he didn't care but he hated that it made his mom so upset. Noriaki told him about how the other kids had never really liked him, and he had no clue why. Jotaro told him about how the other kids made fun of him too, how it was always for stupid reasons like they didn't think he was a real boy or that his mom was American.

Neither of them made any other friends, Jotaro had become very popular with the girls (and Noriaki very much understood why, he was very hot) but he didn't care much for them.

As the two got older, they only got closer. They started hanging out more and more after school and on weekends. They swapped houses every sleepover and were practically another son to each other's parents. Their personalities complimented each other's perfectly and everything was going great!

Until Noriaki told him that he was going on a vacation to Egypt.

It was only supposed to be for a few weeks, but Jotaro still had a horrible feeling about it. He wasn't sure what made him feel so uneasy, but he chalked it up to the fact that he hadn't been without Noriaki in so long.

He didn't see Noriaki for 6 months after that.

He didn't come back.

He didn't answer his calls.

He stopped writing to Jotaro.

He had just...disappeared.

Jotaro didn't know what had happened to him. Noriaki's parents never told him that anything happened to Nori. They didn't tell him anything, in fact. He wasn't even certain that they ever came home. He wished that he had stopped him, begged, pleaded for him to please not go, please stay here, stay with him. But he didn't, and now Noriaki was gone, and now he was alone again. Life felt so much duller without Noriaki there with him.

He dreaded every day, no longer having Noriaki there to encourage him. He felt so empty, and upset, was this how his mom felt without his dad around? Every day was the same. Every day was the same, boring, dull, grey day.

He thought today to be the same as every other day, until he was walking up the steps to school and felt something pierce his leg. When he fell down the stairs, he saw a familiar face come help him up. The figure said something that he didn't quite process before giving him a handkerchief and walking away.

He wanted to call out, to cry for him to come back. He wanted to scream, scream at him for leaving him behind, for being such an asshole. He wanted to yell at him, tell him how pissed he was, tell him how sad he was, tell him how much he hated him, tell him how much he loved him, how much he still loves him.

But nothing like that came out, in the end he only managed a small whisper,

"....Noriaki?"

also katai sometimes hoes nonverbal nd whenever tht would happen at school kuni would start speak for him. he knew katai was okay with him doing this for him (especially to teachers nd kids tht intimidated katai)
