I may have cooked. It’s kind of pathetic, but I was bored during class and I immediately needed to write about two lesbians.

"So, that's what you are..."

I sulked in expertly imitated shame, so strong, rich, and painful that I almost thought that it was a real reaction in a real human brain. My hands were still black, missing a finger on each hand. I was false; I wasn't human.

My girfriend leaned forward, furrowing her brows.

"It explains a lot. I don't approve, but it explains a lot.”

"I am sorry." I replied, twisting my legs together in a way that caused a soft twinge in each of my joints.

"You should be."

Silence enveloped the living room for a few minutes, tension so strong that if it was a physical item, you could probably pluck it and play a tune. Fear radiated out from her, primal and savory, much like the incredible cut of beef we shared that night for dinner. It was a sibling to love, a father to respect, a cousin to betrayal.

"Well?" She prompted. I looked up at her, feeling oh-so-small.

"Well, what?"

My partner leaned back, crossing her arms. The taste of her fear faded, now only faint traces in the air.

"Well, what are you waiting for? You've been waiting to kill me for this entire time. Months. You have to be getting impatient; it'll be my last gift for you." Her eyes roamed over me, staring deep into my eyes. In humans, a symbol of connection; in animals, a challenge.

I felt a sharp tug in my core, and in the time I could blink, I found myself pinning her down, digging my nails into her shoulder blades.

Still no fear from her. Only acceptance.

As I stared into her eyes, I remembered the first time I saw her. Her dating profile on some app, easily stating her likes so I could get close. I made a profile, got myself a body, and we met up. I originally planned to simply kill her after the date, but something about her made me hesitate.

Maybe it was the way that she laughed when I made a comment on the layout of the app, maybe it was the way that she said "Let's do this again sometime, yeah?"

No matter what, though, I hesitated. I had seen her, and she had seen me; the only thing that was faked about me was my appearance. Everything else was true. I was a blank canvas, painted to her liking. Even though I had plenty of opportunities to finish the job, I never did.

I felt something drip out of my two-no, eight eyes, transparent, warm, and smelling of salt. It dropped onto her face, and in that moment, all of the fight ran out of me.

My arms gave out and I flopped onto her chest, burying my face in the side of her neck.

My lungs wouldn't let me take in enough air, and I kept choking on nothing.

After a moment, she wrapped her arms around me, sighing.

"I think I like you better this way."

I hiccuped out a whine, nodding. Eight arms wrapped around her, too, and we held each other firmly on the wooden floor.

"I like me better like this, too."

this should make you angry. children in gaza have been out of school for a whole year and will be out of school as long as the israeli invasion continues. palestinian children live in flimsy tents which do not offer them any protection from the heat/cold. they travel long distances to search for water. they are threatened by water-borne diseases and skin infections that are running rampant in gaza.

no aid has been allowed in gaza since may. there is a shortage of everything from food to medicine to blankets to tents. this means that prices for everything have gone up.

it has become very expensive to survive in gaza. heavy rains followed by the winter are fast approaching. a tent does not offer much protection against the elements.

help alaa [ @alaakh998 ] buy supplies for the winter and medicine for her son who is suffering from a skin infection. she has two children aged six and four. she needs to ensure their safety and welfare and it cannot be done without your help.

'It's awful, and we don't want it to happen again': Navajo Nation takes stand against uranium transports

A pause of the uranium transports from the mine south of the Grand Canyon through the Navajo Nation to Utah is currently in effect.

On Friday, a group of protestors walked on Highway 89 in Cameron, Ariz., protesting Pinyon Plain Mine owner Energy Fuels trucking uranium ore through the Navajo Nation to Utah. Uranium has a long history of impacts on the Navajo Nation and its people since the 1940s. "We've seen the effects of these things in the past on our land, the spills into our rivers, into our communities, the residual effects on our on our health, of our children, our elders," Cameron resident Adair Klopfenstein said. "It's awful, and we don't want it to happen again." The Pinyon Plain Mine, formerly known as Canyon Mine, began mining uranium ore in December and is expected to be actively mining for at least five years. The company had told 12News at the end of June it would start transporting the uranium ore to a mill in southeast Utah in July or August. That hauling appears to have started before the pause was put in place. "I call it illegal smuggling across our border and then through the Navajo Nation," Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren said.
