“If you bloom forever in my heart, then it’s okay for me to get hurt.“

Sneaking Soonyoung into your house at half past midnight was a lot easier said than done. Especially when your mother had a knack for falling asleep on the couch when watching television and was perhaps one of the lightest sleepers you had ever known in your entire twenty-two years of life. Your hand gripped his for dear life as you made him stand as close to your back as you were physically comfortable with, especially considering you had just witnessed and endured standing in the same room as him while he was clothed in nothing but a small towel.

Your tiptoeing was as light as you could make it, Soonyoung’s own steps even lighter. You had to stop your mind from getting pissy over the fact that he even managed to beat you at the level of quietness you exuded when in a crisis situation, because if you so much as breathed incorrectly, your mother would wake up and have both of your heads on a platter before breakfast the next morning.

It would be a much better and more reasonable option to simply confide in her in the morning concerning Soonyoung’s situation, rather than this god-awful hour. Perhaps after you buttered her up with some scrambled eggs and toast, and made her a fresh cup of coffee, she’d be willing to hear everything out.

You could only hope.

Your heart felt like it would combust from the overwhelming relief that washed through you when you somehow made it to the confines of your bedroom and gently closed the door so the only sound heard was that of the lock clicking into the place.

An audible sigh left you the moment the door was shut and your shoulders sagged as you turned around and rested your body against the structure, emotionally exhausted from trying so hard to be inconspicuous. You saw Soonyoung raise a brow at you, crossing his arms as he watched your body unravel from the stress before he chuckled and shook his head.

“Your mom remembers me, I’m sure. I doubt she’d be that unforgiving.” He stated, tilting his head as his eyes gave you a quick once-over. “But you are cute when you’re concentrating so hard. It’s a shame you don’t work this hard in class.”

While your ears tinted red from anger, you couldn’t stop your cheeks from also highlighting a pink shade from his words, even if his compliment was off-handed. “I’m doing you a favor, asshole. At least be grateful.”

He chuckled and reached forward to ruffle your hair, earning a hard glare and grumble from you. “Thank you, sweetheart.”

You stopped yourself from kicking his shin at the endearment and instead shoved your way past him to your bed. You took one of the many pillows you liked to have scattered on the mattress - cocooning you as you slept in a deep abyss, your sleep tendencies the opposite of your mother’s, dead to the world - and tossed the plush object onto the floor, along with the throw blanket you kept at the end of your bed. “Here. Be glad I have carpet in my room. Goodnight, asshole.”

Soonyoung watched the pillow and blanket fall to the floor with a plop, his brow raising in an incredulous manner before he crossed his arms and put his sharp gaze back on you. “You have that giant bed full of pillows and I can’t even have two of them? Or, better yet, share the excess space with you?”

You shrugged and pulled your jacket off and threw it lazily in his direction. He caught the fabric and scoffed when you ignored him and crawled into your bed and snuggled up, your back facing the poor boy. You were already on the verge of passing out for the evening when you heard his footsteps pad up to you and felt his hands roughing push you forward, into the ocean of plushiness and sink onto the bed with you, his own jacket still on his body.

“Ew, get the fuck off my bed, you pervert.” You squealed quietly, turning around to try and smack him away. Soonyoung was far quicker than you, however, and grabbed your hands before they even made contact with him and maneuvered himself so his body was half strewn across yours, his weight keeping you from moving any more.

“It’s one night, y/n. I think you’ll live.” He commented, irritation gracing his normally playful features. You supposed you could let it slide considering he had spent nearly a week in a cold locker room, sleeping on a hard bench, and he probably craved the comfort of an actual bed. You pouted when you realized you were perhaps being inconsiderate, and sighed, dropping the topic and letting him stay put.

You didn’t quite catch it when his eyes slid to your lips jutting out, or the way his tongue swept across his own. It wasn’t until his head dipped down and you felt his warm breath against your neck, his hand sliding from your wrist to the back of your head, his fingers threading through your (probably tangled) hair, that you realized the mood surrounding the two of you had changed significantly in a matter of seconds.

“But, if you think I’m a pervert, then I should at least show you want it means to be one, shouldn’t I?” His lips scraping softly against your flesh made you shiver and squirm, your legs involuntarily spreading apart, allowing his to fit perfectly between them, on top of you. You felt him smirk before he kissed your skin, the hand not in your hair shifting down to the bottom of your shirt and gently brushing against the expanse of your lower abdomen.

You weren’t quite sure why you didn’t stop him, though you would eventually blame it on the fact that it was extremely late, you were tired, and your proper state of mind had clocked out for the day long ago, leaving you weak to the ministrations of your enemy. You stopped yourself from moaning when his teeth tugged at the lobe of your ear and his fingers moved up against your stomach until the digits sat dangerously beneath the wire of your bra. Your hands clenched into fists as you waited for him to make a move, your breath caught in your throat at the anticipation of it.

But it never came.

Instead, you felt the entirety of his weight collapse on your, his face still in your neck as you realized he had passed out, the exhaustion of his week finally catching up to him. You tried to wiggle out from underneath him, but Soonyoung was too heavy and you gave up quickly, praying that he would roll off on his own at some point in the night. You eventually found sleep as well, his warm breath against your neck as he slept peacefully on top of you, lulling you into slumber.

When you woke up in the morning, Soonyoung was no longer on top of you. He was on his side, his back to you, and you noticed that he had must have gotten up at some point in the night, because his coat no longer covered him, the material laying on the floor next to your own.

Heat covered your face when the memories of the what happened - or rather, what almost happened - the night before flooded into your mind. You weren’t the type to allow yourself to dwell, however, and instead of letting it get to you and cause you to think and do things you knew you would regret later on, you took action and got yourself out of your bed, tiptoeing the way out of your room so you didn’t wake him up.

You heard the family clatter of your mother cooking breakfast downstairs and a different feeling filled your stomach at the thought of having to face her so soon. With a deep breath you continued down the stairs and made your way into the kitchen, trying your best to look as nonchalant and unguilty as possible. You busied yourself with pouring a glass of milk, avoiding your mother’s eyes as you went to sit down at the table.

When you found the courage to finally say something to her, she cut you off before your lips could even part fully, her words making you freeze in your seat.

“For what reason did you bring Soonyoung here last night?”

How did she know? You groaned, immediately hiding your face in your hands. Your mother was far too good for you to handle, and you feared for her fury once she finally unleashed it on you. You were expecting it at any second, but when she remained silent, waiting for your reply, you dared to peak up at her, only to see her still casually stirring the waffle mix and pouring another batch of batter into the waffle iron.

“I’m sorry.” Was the first thing you said, figuring she would go easier on you if you apologized beforehand. Her chuckle caught you off guard and very nearly made you choke on your milk. “Why are you laughing?”

“Honey, you’re grown now, you do realize that? I don’t think you would’ve tried so hard to sneak him in last night if it wasn’t something important, so unless you tell me it was because you wanted to do the hanky panky and mess around, I’m not going to be upset.”

“Hanky panky? Oh my God, ew.” You gagged, shaking your head furiously at her. “I hate his guts, I don’t even want to think about that.”

“Sure thing, Darling.” She laughed again, and you couldn’t stop the blush forming on your cheeks when you denied how much of a liar you probably were. But, Soonyoung was never going to find out that you might’ve actually wanted him to kiss you the night before. And, you managed to convince yourself physical desires had nothing to do with emotional, and as far as you were concerned, you hated his guts even more for making consider such grotesque thoughts.

“I’m sorry, Auntie.”

Both of you turned your heads in the direction of the stairs and Soonyoung’s sleepy and disheveled appearance met your eyes. You cleared your throat and turned your head to glare furiously at the waffle iron in front of your mother to fight back the blush. How dare he look so attractive after just waking up.

“It’s quite alright, Soonyoung. But, do explain to me why you’re here.”

You ignored his presence as he made his way next to you at the table and sitting down. You refused to acknowledge how warm your side suddenly felt with his body heat once again so close to you.

“I had a pretty bad argument with my dad. It’s complicated, but I haven’t been able to sleep at home in a while. Y/n was kind enough to let me sleep here last night when she found out.”

Your mother nodded understandingly but seemed to ponder for a moment before speaking again. “You know you should probably talk it out with your father.”

“I know,” Soonyoung sighed, and you were tempted to look over at him because he sounded so defeated in that moment and it very nearly made you feel bad for the boy. “But, I can’t just yet. I need him to understand some things first.”

With a tsk your mother turned back to the waffle iron and opened it to take out the breakfast food and place on the plate stacked with the rest. Another moment of silence passed while she refilled the iron again before she spoke once more. “You can stay here as long as you need to, Dear.”

Your jaw almost dropped to the floor when she uttered those words. You were not expecting her to give in so quickly, especially not when you lived in a tiny house with no guest room and a two-seater for a sofa. You were almost hoping she would have rejected him, so you wouldn’t have felt as bad kicking him out. You were too guilty to let him stay another night in the locker room, but if your mom wasn’t okay with him staying with you, then you wouldn’t have been able to do anything.

“Where is he going to sleep?” You found yourself questioning but the look your mother gave you made you regret bringing it up. You didn’t want to describe it as a smirk - because she was your mom after all - but that was what it was, and your heart dropped into your stomach at the sinister smile.

“He can just continue to share your room, of course.”

She knew what she was doing. She purposefully wanted to tease and push your buttons. And God, was it going to work. You wanted so badly to tune her out when she spoke, but the words echoed in your head repeatedly once they left her lips, and you felt as if you were going to explode.

All thanks to Kwon Soonyoung.

“If you bloom forever in my heart, then it’s okay for me to get hurt."

Kwon Soonyoung was a little bitch.

You had been certain of that fact ever since you were five and first met the obnoxious boy.

He was a loud mouth, a tad bit arrogant, and the worst thing…

He always managed to beat you at everything.

And you absolutely hated it.
