i was recently talking to one of my good friends, and she told me that “i take music too seriously.”

and i looked at her and told her this;

let’s say you are in a relationship, and your significant other is just pure magic to you. whenever you need them, they are always available and always there for you. they are your escape from all the terrible things the world hits you with. you can express yourself and tell them anything. if they were taken out of your life, your life would be empty. your life would have zero meaning. you love them more than you love yourself, and you would sacrifice anything for them to always be apart of your life. if you were in a relationship like that, you would of course, take that relationship seriously.

that’s what music does for me.

music is the “person” i’m in a relationship with.

music is the “person” who is always there for me, has never left me, who i can tell everything to and express myself to, who if you took away from me, i would not be worth anything. my life would slowly crumble and i would die without that one piece of my heart that i loved.

music did that for me. music IS my escape. music IS the reason why i am alive and on this planet.

and that, that is why i take music seriously.

when classical music + creative writing its put together, it’s probably one of the purest pieces of magic this world still contains

My amazon order finally arrived! Hoping to learn the Grieg sometime in the next 4 years to enter my youth orchestra’s concerto competition. The Chopin collection is a massive tome (721 pages!!), I’ll be an old man before I can play everything in it 😆
