The idea that "water is a very cheap offering" and therefore not good enough to give to the gods or your ancestors is directly tied to your own lack of self-worth and fear that you're not doing enough and therefore feelings of not being good enough to work with the gods or your spirits.

The feeling of needing to get something a lot more expensive or something that requires more effort in order to validate your desire to work with the gods or your spirits is just another way capitalism has conditioned you to demonize basic needs and reject them in order to access your own spirituality.

Until recently, filtered water was inaccessible (and depending on where you are, it still is). Your gods and especially ancestors are fascinated with you having access to cleaner water, something they have fought for you to get.

Offer them water. They really do treasure it.

What I Burn When I Need Help

Burning herbs can be more than just cleansing. It can help banish, invoke, encourage, invite, and much more. A lot of times, when I feel like I'm struggling with a specific issue (with myself or with what is around me), I find myself drawn to burning single herbs to help me get back into the headspace I need to be.

Cinnamon: When I feel like I'm falling behind in my shadow work, I burn a bit of a stick of cinnamon to help encourage healing and mindfulness.

Dried Apple Peel: Apples are symbols of friendship and love. When I feel particularly down on myself or lonely, burning apple peels can help invoke an increased sense of patience towards myself.

Pine Needles: Burning pine needles welcomes new beginnings and fresh starts. Super helpful for things like breakups, graduation, and repelling negativity.

Rice: A bit tricky to burn! I tend to hold two or three in tweezers ad just roast the ends for a moment or two and waft that little bit of smoke around my space. Burnt rice invites financial gain, and protects you from negative energies.

Rose Petals: Rose petals invoke soft, genuine feelings of love and appreciation.

Rose Thorns: On the other hand, burning rose thorns protects you from people who have terms for their love, and protects you from people who lie about their affections for you.

Rosemary: This herb encourages good health, and is helpful in strengthening memory when burnt. It's also effective as a shower/bath additive!

Tangerine Peel: I use tangerine peels because that's what I have, but orange peels work the same! Burning these citrus peels invites more energy into your space, and can be great for sleepy mornings and early morning college classes.

🍻*⋆⍋ Butterbeer Tea Potion ⍋⋆*🍺

One of my favourite traditions during the winter is rewatching all of the Harry Potter movies. I've been indulging in rereading the books as well and wanted to do a bit of Hogwarts-inspired magick. I've always found the idea of butterbeer interesting and there are many wonderful recipes online. Despite this, I'm not the biggest fan of cream soda, so here is a butterbeer tea potion. In the books, butterbeer is known for being a great way to lift spirits and bring joy. The sugar and butter in butterscotch soothe relationships, boost love, and bring sweetness, making it a cozy drink to share with friends. Like the books, adding the butterscotch liqueur will add a bit of boozy warmth to this tea, but it can be omitted if you'd like. I hope everyone will enjoy this potion, I'll be sure to include links for where you can find some ingredients.

1 bag of butterscotch tea ( You can also make your own using butterscotch candy, black tea, cinnamon, and cocoa nibs.)

1 cup of milk ~ Fertility and abundance

1/2 tsp of butterscotch syrup

1/2 tsp of cinnamon ~ Love, passion, healing

1/2 tsp of vanilla ~ Happiness, Friendship, luck

1 tsp of butterscotch liqueur (optional)

Butterscotch topping for garnish

Begin by steeping the tea bag in 1/4 a cup of hot water for 3-5 minutes.

In a small pot, on medium heat, combine the milk, cinnamon, and vanilla. Stir frequently to avoid burning until it reaches a light simmer.

Remove the tea bag and add the butterscotch liqueur.

In a frothing pitcher or bowl, add the milk and butterscotch syrup.

Using a frothing tool or whisk, froth the milk until light and foamy on top.

Before combining the milk and tea, garnish the rim of the glass with drizzles of the butterscotch topping.

Add the tea, followed by the milk, and give it 3 small stirs clockwise. Top it with the milk foam and enjoy!
