I think my only real issue with Drolta's design from Castlevania Nocturn are her shoes.

I just don't understand them.

Everything else is magnificent, especially her hair and eyes. The color palette is immaculate.

But girl what are those shoes?

Before the boy could speak, a group of medics and soldiers scrambled towards them, all looking disheveled and exhausted.

"Oh thank the sentinels! There he is!" One medic heaved in relief as she stopped running.

"Thank you general for catching this little rascal, we've ran ourselves ragged trying to give him a check-up." She reaches out to hold the boy's hand, "It's okay sweetie, I promise we won't hurt you, I'll even give you a sugar pearl, okay?"

Despite the honeyed words, the medic was ultimately faced with a harsh rejection, as the boy promptly slapped her hand away and clung on tight to Geshu Lin's leg.

"No! No! I wanna stay with daddy! Don't take me away from him!"

"Huh?" The group froze, completely baffled by his words.

They collectively stare at Geshu Lin in confusion, the atmosphere was awkwardly silent for what felt like an eternity.

"Errr... if that is the case..." A more senior medic spoke up.

"General, could you please do us a favour and stay with this boy for his medical examination?" He politely requests, not asking about the boy's claim that Geshu Lin was his father, since he did not wish to intrude on the general's personal life.

"Please general, I felt two lumps on this child's back eariler, I need to check if they're cancerous. Any more delay could put his life at risk."

The boy looks up at Geshu Lin with some hope.

A few soldiers found a boy today.

Normally, that shouldn't be too much of a big deal, orphaned children weren't uncommon in war zones. They normally got treated before being sent to Jinzhou, where they were registered into an orphanage.

But this one?

He was frail, small and timid. But oddly agile. Because as soon as one of the medics took him to the infirmary to get a check-up, the medical equipment plus the overwhelming environment scared him and caused the boy to run off.

It was a wild goose chase, no one seemed to be able to catch the boy or convince him that there was nothing to be scared about. Not even Jiyan himself succeeded.

But when Geshu Lin got involved, the boy, who was currently hiding behind a small crevice that no else could get in, shuffled out rather quickly.

He eyes the tall man before him curiously, before holding out his hand and saying:

"Daddy...?"

Geshu Lin had been walking while reading some reports on military shipments from Jinzhou when a small voice caused him to pause, raising a brow as he looked past the reports to see a tiny and rather frail child staring up at him with large, innocent eyes and holding out a minuscule hand.

He stared back quite intensely, the word ‘daddy’ ringing in his head before he frowned. “….I am not your father. What on earth are you doing here?” He asked critically, his attention completely diverted from the reports.

Apparently the soldiers had failed to inform him that they had found a random child.
