holding people accountable for their words and actions is extremely important. it’s how we grow and learn and become better as human beings.
having forgiveness in your heart is also important.
Something Special
“Sir? We have a new batch of players for you to look at.”
“Already? I just finished the last batch.”
“Yes, sir. But with Wayne and Mario doing so well, hockey is becoming much more popular. We have more candidates now than we used to.”
The most senior of the hockey gods strokes his chin thoughtfully as he looks at the new photos his assistant has put on his desk. The moving photos make it easy for him to see where each boy excels. It’s his job to enhance the skill of each one. Most of them are easy—stickhandling skills to this one, speed to that one. But one of the photos is mesmerizing and he can’t stop looking at it.
The tiny dynamo streaking down the ice, should, by normal standards, not even be a competitor. But even in the short moving clip, it’s easy to see he has more raw talent than any of the others. He dekes and stickhandles around the d-men around him and fires the puck into the net.
When his assistant comes back to collect the photos, he’s still watching the clip play. “Sir? Are you finished with these?”
“Hmmm? Oh, yes.” He slides the last one across his desk. “Keep an eye on this one—he’s going to be something special.”
The assistant flips the photo over and reads the stats. “Patrick Kane, Buffalo, New York.” He goes on reading, shooting a look at his boss when he gets to the height and weight. “This one, sir? He’s pretty small for a professional hockey player.”
The hockey god grins. “I don’t think it’s going to matter.”

brain: excellent. you will be unable to think about anything other than that thing for a period lasting from several weeks to a number of years.
