I used to get spanked, but eventually the worse punishment was being lectured for long enough to lose my attention and then ask a question I can't answer because I CAN'T FOLLOW A LECTURE 30 MINUTES LONG! All the while, they're sitting down comfortably while I have to stand even if there is a chair right there. I wish I was taught through encouragement, not discouragement

Anyway adults saying “I don’t know isn’t an answer” is part of the reason I learned to lie and bluff so well.
