She raised a single dark brow in interest at Arcturus’ suggestion, the idea becoming more and more appealing with each second. An example definitely needed to be made with this simpleton but it needed to be done right.

“Tell me about this method of yours. I’m intrigued.” She said, tightening her hold on the Duke’s throat as she looked back at him.

“I-How dare you! Who do you think you are to think that you can threaten me in such a barbaric way?!” The Duke snarled at Arcturus, momentarily taking his attention off of Lucette. But her spot, she can see the poisonous emotion of fear begin to take form in his eyes, his hands trembling.

“You should listen to him, Duke. I would hate to have my guest’s pleasant evening be ruined by spilled blood over an idiotic conflict. Oh? What’s with that look? You didn’t think I was actually going to defend you against him, did you? After how rudely you spoke to me? Such arrogance.” She taunted cruelly, crossing her arms over her chest.

“Your Highness, is this the company you keep around your person?! No wonder you’re so unrefined! Combined that with your breeding-”

“What did you just say about my parentage?” She cut him off darkly,the temperature in the room suddenly dropping. Most, more intelligent people, would’ve seen the signs and stopped there. But the Duke wasn’t known for his intelligence.

“You did not hear me? I speak of how your mother copulated with a barbaric excuse of a prince from a backwards world like some whor-” The Duke rambled, only to be cut off with with a loud gurgle as Lucette’s hands wrapped tightly around his throat, his back pressed against the wall. 

“You have a lot of nerve to speak in such a way about the deceased family of the person who holds your life in her hands.” She growled through her clenched teeth, blue eyes now lit afire with dark rage, hands tightening around his throat.

“It is not your fault. You did not know about it nor ordered it. And you avenged her, did you not?” She asked, a smidge of comfort in her tone, though she tried to sound nonchalant.

“What’s for dessert, Alma?” She then asked, turning to her loyal maid who had just reentered the room holding a large glass cake tray that held a cake with different shade of brown.

“Layered Tiramisu cake topped with whipped cream, My Lady.” Was her answer, to her delight. One of her favorite desserts, bringing back old memories of her mother baking it for her birthdays.

“Come Arcturus, let your guilt flow away for an evening.”

“Heh, maybe. I hope so.” She murmured sadly, looking down at her lap, before once again going on with her story.

“Life continued on like that until I was eight years old. That’s when everything changed like a claw scratching down a picture. A-A few hours after I had arrived in Valencia, some....some band of pirates raided my parents Mooshu home. T-They killed them both and burned down it all down to try to hide the evidence!” She growled out, her hands tightening on the armrest of the chair while tears pricked at the corners of her eyes. Even after all of these years, the wounds still sting, running far too deep within her to ever be truly healed, even by time.

“On that same day, my grandfather disappeared without a trace. They searched all over Valencia for him, but could never find him. I had no one left but my uncle to care for me. I vividly remember the funeral, a sea of people dressed in black, side eyeing me pitying looks. I could hear their whispers of them guessing what will happen to me. Orphanage? Distant family? Sent away to some random place? No, my uncle took care of me, as he always had.” She continued, calming down a bit but the anger remained. She remembers whimpering through her tears as she felt the stares of hundreds of people on her back. She recalls the overwhelming comfort and safety she felt when her uncle wrapped an arm around her, the black cloak hiding her from view. She felt protected.

1. Phule’s feelings about Kane vary. On some days he absolutely despises him, on others, he wishes that he could make Kane proud and not be seen as a disappointment for even just 2 seconds.

2. Queen has two blades in her arms that slide out from underneath her sleeve. Backup weapons in case something happens to her sword.

3.Queen actually gets along with Queen Margherita quite well. She would like to call her a friend, but knew that eventually she and her husband would have to be disposed of. So, she takes her time to cherish the time left.

4. Deacon has a sword in his cane. Cause there can’t be any other reason he carries that around.

5. He also has a dagger in his sleeve for close combat. Just in case.

6. Rooke would sometimes use his halberd like a javelin to kill a running target or a target that is too far to axe.

7. Bishop doesn’t wear those goggles to see, he wears them because that’s proper lab safety.

8. Bishop likes to study astronomy in his little free time. The stars and constellations are interesting to him. And sometimes, they help with his work.

9. Queen and Kane are amazing at drawing and sketching. Kane prefers drawing ideas for new clockworks and mechanical things while Queen prefers drawing nature and re-imagining old paintings.

10. Kane and Queen would sometimes dance together at balls.

11. Rooke can occasionally be reckless but he will be reckless reasonably. As in, if there’s no other choice, he will be reckless.

12. A lot of people mistakenly think that just because Rooke is a buccaneer, he is all brawn, no brains. Rooke is quite intelligent and is excellent at strategy and tactics. Underestimate his intelligence and you’ll be on the wrong end of his halberd.
