I might have not worded it clearly enough, but I am not claiming that people who dislike her are doing so for misogyny reasons. I think she sucks I think that's how she's meant to be received by the audience, my issue is that often i see people refer to her as if she's evil as if she's the worst ever and

this follows a strong pattern of what I see in fandom where characters who are women are treated as if they are the worst person to ever exist for being perceived as annoying or rude when this is not the case for male characters. I think not liking her is fine, because again - she's written to be dislikeable, but I think she's an example of how people react very harshly to women in media specifically just for kind of sucking.

If you look at a fandom and the most hated characters in it very often it's just women who have dislikeable traits, whilst often men in media who are rude or annoying are seen as desirable in some way, I think the way audiences react are different and the way I see people react to Beffica Winklesnoot is often completely out of proportion in a way I don't think it would be with a male character.

I believe in my heart of hearts if Beffica wasn't a woman that the fandom wouldn't hate her so much. I don't know whether it's because people receive women characters differently or because the 'mean girl' stereotype is so baked into our heads but if she were a male character I truly believe everyone would be obsessed with her. At least that's just my experience in fandom.

I understand that we're all very attached to Filbo but the way that fandoms act like specifically female characters are evil for being rude or mean is incredibly common and all encompassing.

i'm gonna finally name/colour my grumpsona like i said i would agess ago (i'm getting back into the swing of drawing again i was struggling for a bit there) and i've realised they weren't very like.. uniquely shaped? which most grumpuses are so

i decided to just like, emphasise some of my own features, like it's cathartic and fun and also lets me channel things i would be insecure about usually. like i've given them a long torso and shorter legs because i'm built like that i've made them round and soft looking because i'm built like that. they have a little bump on their nose because so do i.

this is a joyous form of self expression could not recommend enough. literally any feature looks whimsical and great on a grumpus
