Crazy to me that early fandom fic authors and artists used to use incredibly homophobic talking points WHILE portraying queer relationships in their works. The phenomenon of (typically cishet) artists creating works around two male characters portrayed romantically and in the same breath turning around and going “don’t worry guys, it’s cool if you like this because they’re not GAY 🙄 it’s just hot because it’s two guys we think are hot and they have no canon female love interests 🙄🙄”.
