This time the theory is foolproof.

There is no other explanation for the aloof, arrogant detective to jump of the roof just because the publicity has gone bad. No reason why Anderson and Donovan could stir him in this direction by nothing more than a little teasing. Sherlock never cared about it, he always did it for the people, had the right reasons.
