As I write this, it's been 8 years and a day since the boys have debuted. I remember being 12 and watching M Countdown during the holidays. I was eating choco pie while lazing on the couch - desperately waiting for a group I recognised to come out. One of the most uneventful days of my life was the one day that turned all of their lives upside down.

I remember as the 7 of them walked onto stage and started their careers. I had no idea who they were, but found myself fascinated by the outfits. 12 year old me was very much not a fan of the chains and I couldn't help but constantly wonder why anyone would be wearing shades during a performance.

In 2014 I remember rushing to the hi-touch venue in hopes of being able to see a glimpse of them. Call me god's favourite or whatever but I found myself standing at a spot where I could clearly see each of them. For a super broke 13 year old who had no money to get tickets, just being able to see them in real life was a complete dream come true.

In the June of 2016, I went to Korea for my usual once every 2 years trip. The night I decide to go to the han river for a lovely night walk is the night jungkook is there, but me being me, I don't even notice till I check twitter when I am back in my airbnb. I have never cursed myself so much before but sometimes life just works out that way.

Later on in the year, I would be going to Japan for a family trip. All hell is about to break loose in my family because our flight was delayed and we may be missing our next connecting flight. Despite this chaos I decide that nature calls, and while we figure out how to rush to the next flight I make a quick trip to the toilet. And then that is when I see a bunch of fans sitting in an area holding up signs and I recognise the names of all the members. I stand there in absolute confusion and then the most amazing 7 boys walk by and I'm like oh shit ! BTS!!! Is this god's way of saying sorry about what happened earlier in the year?

And now we're so many years past and I've spent every single day of all these years finding comfort, joy, and absolute peace watching as these 7 boys grow as artist and as people. What an honour it is to have been able to experience my youth with them. It is true pure serendipity that I met the most amazing people to grow with and for that I will be eternally grateful. Here's to many more years of me emo-ing over BTS growing up.
