currently maybe possibly single-handedly crashing whatever servers eton hosts its archived student newspapers on because me and a friend are getting obsessed with a single outspoken prefect from 1883
I do struggle with being different. Not as in "different from the norm", but being different from those who are different.
When you find out that you have a difference. You realize you're not alone, that others are like you. You put a name to it, find peers and communities, and then...
Oh, so you people aren't different like THIS, you're different like THAT.
In all these little communities for people with differences, there are always some things that are more common. Symptoms, traits, types, whatever we call them. And when you're consistently not in the common category, it can be confusing and invalidating. Especially when those kinds of thoughts are part of your difference to begin with.
Am I misunderstanding my own body? Am I differenting wrong? Am I even allowed to be here? I don't want to be unique, I want to belong!
For good or for bad, we're all unique. We have our own set of traits and history that have shaped us to who we are. We can sort our differences into boxes to create order, but at the end of the day, not two people are the exact same kind of different.
And that's ok. No, you're not differenting wrong. Yes, you still belong.
why are there so many posts about asexuals being immune to sirens. people. sirens don’t lure you in with sex (necessarily). they sing about whatever it is that you want most. they could sing about mothman or cinnamon toast crunch and guess what then your asexual pirate is fucking dead
Being too disabled to work is not a “rich person thing.” People who are not allowed to have more than 2k in their bank accounts are not rich lazy upper class people lol. And if you try to argue that “well if you aren’t rich how do you expect to survive without working” I’d like to remind you that lots of disabled people who can’t work don’t actually survive.
It's beautiful. But it hurts. It hurts.
