I just found out that there is a theory that James will find out about Matthew’s crush on Cordelia and then they get into a huge fight causing Christopher and Thomas to take side causing the Merry Thieves to break up. THIS CAN NOT HAPPEN! Anything can happen with the ships (jordelia/fairstairs, but the Merry Christmas Thieves have to stick together!

Hi, Cassie, I hope you are doing well! My question is about Matthew: are his alcoholism and (hopefully) recovery going to play a big part in his development in the next book? Is he going to get better? I am so worried for him, I just want him to be happy 😭 I can't wait for COI, it will be amazing as always. Thank you for everything! (Also just WHAT happened to Matthew's waistcoat and ring during the musicale? How do you just lose an entire waistcoat? 😂)

I would say yes — his alcoholism and the path it takes are significant parts of his character arc.

Maybe he gave the waistcoat to someone?

We know from a snippet that sadly Jamie and Matthew get in a fight in ChoI. We know this fight is about Matthew’s drinking but it is probably more than that. Maybe about Math and Cordelia?? We know that not all parabatai are that lovey dovey. They won’t handle this fight like Jem and Will did over Tessa.

Their parabatai relationship might break because of this fight. If you don’t believe this (which I totally understand. I love these two so much!) you must remember that not all parabatai are like our beloved Jem and Will. Jem and Will didn’t really have any other friends (I’m not counting Jessie. She’s more of an acquaintance) while Matthew and Jamie have Tom, Kit, and all of their other relatives and friends. James and Matthew aren’t completely dependent on each other. They can always break up and go their separate ways.

I really hope this doesn’t happen. It’s just a theory!

What do you all about a Lucie and Grace friendship... imagine all the drama with Cordelia if that happens!
