I am too old for such fancies, he told himself. A thousand eyes, a hundred skins, wisdom deep as the roots of ancient tress. That was as good as being a knight. Almost as good, anyway.

Sam fumbled for a penny. “Are you a novice?”  

“An acolyte. Alleras, by some called Sphinx.”  

The name gave Sam a jolt. “The sphinx is the riddle, not the riddler,” he blurted. “Do you know what that means?” 

“No. Is it a riddle?” 

“I wish I knew. I’m Samwell Tarly. Sam.”

In regards to what you've said about Cersei and Rhaegar. I think it has less to do with Rhaegar himself but more with Cersei's trauma with Robert. That is why he is brought up so much in her chapters, to her he represents a life she thinks she could have had if Aerys had accepted Tywin's proposal. I think it is something very human to believe we would have been happier if x, y or z hadn't happened in our lives....

I definitely agree that Cersei idealizes what her life with Rhaegar would have been like. It is a coping mechanism for her, a form of escapism for sure.

However, my point is that the deliberate contrast Cersei engages in between Rhaegar and Robert, the very fact that Rhaegar could represent freedom and happiness for her, that she uses him to cope with being married to Robert, further showcases that Rhaegar is not the "Nazi pedophile wife beating white supremacist" the fandom demonizes him as. That Cersei's love and idolization of Rhaegar is just one of the many motifs that showcase how loved Rhaegar truly was by many different people.

im always gonna love the contrast between arya/nymeria and dany/drogon like arya and dany are these tiny lil petite girls - they’re vulnerable and small and scared - but they share their souls with these enormous terrifying monsters! arya literally becomes a powerful fierce direwolf at night and dany rides her fire breathing dragon through the sky. wolves and girls!!!!! girls and dragons!!!!!!! this is why fantasy exists!!!!!!!!!
