Sfnta Joi, Lady Of Marrying Opposites.

Sfânta Joi, lady of marrying opposites.
Half woman, half man; with a foot in winter and one in summer, both a protector and harsh punisher, patron of spinning, weaving and needlework who forbids those activities on her holliest days, Joi(Thursday) ties together the week and most likely, given how many important Thursdays without christian connections are in the traditional calendar, used to be the queen of the week. The middle of the week carried a lot of power in the old days, being associated with the full power of the Sun. With the rise of Christianity that power was divided between Joi and Duminică(Sunday), the latter gaining the positive gentle light and fertile warmth, and Joi keeping the scorching heat. Still, there was no full usurpation; the two ladies share the center of the sky for a home and Joi still presides over the transition between seasons and remains the luckiest day of the week when it's great to be born, get engagged and married. Usually it is a day free to any kind of labor, exept in the transition period between winter and summer and vice versa, when it is forbbiden to spin thread, weave or sow on Thursday. On the Thursday before Easter, it is said that Joimărița visits every household to inspect the hardwork, skill and creativity of women, burning the fingers of those who have not finished spinning last year's flax and leaving gifts for those who finished their work, the prettier their new clothes they made the more luck they'll have over the year.

I can't quite put it into words, but we have midnights the standard album with 13 tracks which are the collection of midnights, but then we have the 3 am tracks because it is one thing to be up at midnight, but another to stay up till 3, and those songs are filled with so much more grief, hopelessness, bitterness. Hits Different is the bridge between the midnight and 3 am songs. the bar closes at 2 am and she is trying to stumble her way back home. You're Losing Me is on the Up Til Dawn version, so she stayed up all night because she was so tired, but yet she couldn't sleep.

Sfânta Marți, the one not happy to be here.
Marți(Tuesday) is the day that accumulated most of the negative energies in Romanian folklore, being embodied by a very capricious and usually mean spirited being with 9 different faces, both male and female depending on who sees her. It is said that the fabric of reality was woven on the first Tuesday, but unlike her elder sister Luni who blesses all beginnings in honor of the bit of creation done on her day, Marți curses all begnnings and endings on her day, seeing them as a vain attempt to rival God. So there's a long list of superstitions, what you should and shouldn't do to avoid her wrath: do not start a journey on a Tuesday, do not start weaving or plowing or any other long term work, leave the last stitch on a garment for another day, do not move in a new house, do not propose on this day etc, etc, etc. Marți also gained the cusre of the 3 ill hours which are random every Tuesday and bad things are prone to happen as a result of a murder being commited on her day-sometimes the first murder, other times just a really bad one(Craliu Marcu killing his son Gruicea to take his bride; Stefanita killing his foster father Luca Arbore in anger etc). But it's not all bad, as when spring comes she takes on her kindest face as Mărțișor and is willing to hand out luck and blessings if you wear the red and white string.

Sfânta Miercuri, generous widow, protector of animals and travellers and godmother to the sun.
Of Mirercuri(Wednesday) Romanian traditions tell us that she is a very old lady who became a widow very early in life and thus spent most of her time appart from human society, caring for the wilds and teaching animals how to survive. She is said to be guide to travellers especially if they are treading wild paths. She is one of the frequent presences in fairy tales, always in a helper role, calling on her animal companions to aid the hero and possesing a treasure trove of magical artefacts(golden apples, a distaff and spindle that spin gold on their own, brushes that when thrown over the shoulder turn into forests) that she is very generous with. Miercuri is also the day the Sun was born and it is said that no matter the weather he always shows his face for at least a second for his godmother.
it lowkey pisses me off when people say Snow hates Katniss just because she reminds him of Lucy Gray
cause like.. no. he hates her because everything she does is a painful reminder that he had a choice.
when she pulled out those berries, he hated that she would rather die with Peeta than leave him behind for a life of glory and wealth.
whilst he was prepared to kill Lucy Gray for the same result.
when she volunteered in her sisters place at the reaping, he hated that she would rather die than leave her sister behind.
because he’d never do the same for Tigris, even though he arguably “owed” Tigris more than Katniss did Primrose.
when she stepped in to stop commander Thread during Gale’s whipping, he hated that she would rather put herself in the crossfire than let him die.
because he had every opportunity to, but he would never do the same for Sejanus. instead he sent him to his grave.
throughout the entire book Snow keeps choosing money and power over love, and throughout the entire book he tries to gaslight himself into thinking he didn’t have a choice.
Katniss’s actions to some extent forced him to confront his own choices. they forced him to realise that if he hadn’t acted the way he did, he could’ve still had the people he loved by his side.
then there’s the obvious thing with her you know, making the gamemakers and the regime look stupid and well, becoming the unwilling symbol of a rebellion but shh
thank you for coming to my TED talk pookies

Sfanta Luni, eldest lady of the week, guide and patron of beginnings.
Luni(Monday) is the eldest sister of the 7 ladies that personify each day of the week in Romanian mythology. Depicted as either a very old woman or a strong man* holding the keys to heaven, she is believed to point the way for souls both when they enter this world and the next. As the world began on her day, she is the patron of all beginnings, so she could be either the luckiest lady or the worst one depending on how things go for you on her day. If you find joy on Monday, joy will follow you all week, but if you start with sorrow that’s how you’ll be all week. She is also a day associated with angels when fasting gives strenght to your angel to help you with your struggles and if you fasted all Mondays they will have enough strenght to carry you to the gates of heaven when you die.
*grain of salt there cause I only found one source for her also being a man that claimed she's always a man along with the other two days with masculine aspects, Marti and Joi which can't be true cause both have specific feminine deities attached to them.
