I feel like there's haters for every group of people, no matter what they do or who they are. (And not only people, I mean, the amount of hate with which people rant about cats. Like take a chillpill, you don’t have to be around them, if you don’t like them. But don’t try to convince people that cats deserve to die just because one scratched you when you pet it wrong.) And the polarization of different topics on the internet are making people even more rude to other people.

Maybe so many topics have also become about how people identify?

I myself have always thought that if a hobby, religion, or whatever isn’t hurting anyone, then there's no issue. As long as these things aren't used to e.g. bully or hurt other people, why would I care? As long as religion isn’t used as a justification of hatred, why would someone's faith matter to me?

I would never go rant about not believing in astrology or any god in someone's comment section that does. It's a shame that apparentaly, many do not share this thought.

But I think - if op even really was asking a question, and not being rhetorical, I'm not good at recognising that - some of the possible reasons why people are so agains astrology might be:

- They have themselves been categorised by people that believe in astrology, in a way that is untruthful / hurtful / etc. I myself have heard (simply because of my sign) that I am deceitful and twofaced. Some people even explained my autistic qualities or habits (before knowing I was autistic) with my sign.

- As misinformation, post-truth, and crisis of specialization (idk. "Asiantuntijuuden kriisi" suomeksi) gain more foothold, and more and more people are saying that they don’t believe in science, or scientific research, or evolution, some people who identify as "scientific thinkers", have gotten angry. I feel like professional people have ways to handle this differently and more constructively, but the hobbyists etc. at this point just lash out on other individuals. And that's just sad and stupid.

- Honestly, autism. It comes in many shapes and sizes, and our "black and white thinking" or strong sense of justice isn’t always a good thing. My moral code is based on politeness, fairness, and protecting nature, animals and people. Even this isn’t always socially a good thing. I have gotten into many verbal fights because in my mind tobacco is something really, very, superbad, and I just cannot get around it. And even though I don’t tell people who smoke that they're bad or anything, I might try to ask if they know of all the bad things tobacco industry causes.

Some other autistic people (like my uncle) might have grown to use Bible as their moral code. Someone might be very scientific, and might feel the need to "defend" science againts all that is "unlogical". (Some autistic people also are bad at recognising context. If a video for example - even if it would be meant for a small hobbyist audience - is worded in a way, that sounds like something supernatural is a proven fact, they might feel compelled to comment.)

- As mentioned before, I think this has also become a question of identity, and those who are okay with different kinds of identities, leave others be, but those who aren't, start yelling at each other.

That being said, the reasons aren't good reasons. Being rude is being rude. Live and let live.

I support everyones hobbies that make them happy, even though I will probably leave the moment someone tries to put me in a box based on my birthday. Or makes me feel bad for not believing in anything supernatural (usually, it's either ghosts or gods). But I still support your right to believe, and practise stuff.

i know astrology is fake but i'm not too keen on how a lot of people on this website seem to be clowning on it as a hobby a bit too hard. i swear the woman who thinks it's neat how she and her friends with the same sun sign are all similar isn't trying to say that you are who you are born as and there is nothing you can do to change it. it's a hobby. an interest. what happened to finding meaning and joy in the small things. does it affect you if someone enjoys tarot reading or crystals. does it make you upset someone has interests that they enjoy.
