you’ve gotta understand, adrien going to the extreme of renouncing his miraculous in the middle of battle isn’t because “i can’t handle criticism I quit”. it’s because he’s afraid he’s going to hurt more people, hurt ladybug, be the cause of their failure.
he idolizes ladybug, she’s his escapism from his home life. the minute ladybug says “I can’t trust you anymore”, his whole alternate life shatters. he hurt the one person who gives him comfort, the one person he’s deeply in love with. he feels as though he constantly burdens her and makes things harder for her. why would he want to continue hurting the person he loves? the moment he finds out ladybug needs him, that she can’t function without her partner, he comes back. because she reassures him that he is wanted and needed and capable of getting the job done.
ladybug has a huge impact on how adrien sees himself and his worth. she’s the only person he can be himself around, and ultimatley her view on him is what he values and trusts the most.
These are funny bc of how utterly ridiculous they are, but they’re also horribly terrifying because there are large numbers of the population who actually think like this; one of whom is the standing President of the Nation
