One Step At A Time
One Step at a Time
Warnings: School Shooting, death, PTSD
Summary: It was supposed to be just another normal day at school. Just 8 hours, 480 minutes, of learning before Julie and you went to the Molina’s studio and spend the day with the guys. It was supposed to be just another normal school day... but it wasn’t.
Pairings: Ghost!Luke Patterson x Alive!Reader
A/N I did as much research as I could about the subject, I won’t get it 100% right since thankfully I’ve never experienced this but I feel it is a subject that should be talked about more. Stay safe!

120 Hours After the Shooting
A gasp leaves your body as you sit up while holding back a scream. You feel the sweat dripping down your skin as your eyes take in your surroundings, it takes you a minute to fully recognize your room as your blurry vision finally settles.
You feel a hand on your shoulder and you jump out of your bed, scared. Looking towards the source you find the hazel eyes of the lead guitarist on Julie’s band.
He looks at you with worry as he slowly starts crawling towards you, his steps were wary as if afraid you’d run out of the room any second.
He opens and closes his mouth repeatedly, he is talking to you, yet you cannot hear. Your ears numb to the sounds around you.
As you feel breathing becoming a harder task your eyes fall to your hands, wondering to yourself when will this ever stop?
How could this be your life now?

2190 Hours Before the Shooting
You walked behind Carrie to the auditorium with your blue wig on and an excited smile on your face. All the Dirty Candy girls following their leader with the nerves filling their bodies.
After many days of long hours of rehearsals, you girls were finally showing what you had worked so hard to accomplish.
As you entered the auditorium a student member of the illuminating staff bumps into you nearly throwing you to the ground. Thankfully, he catches you.
“I’m so so sorry, Y/N”
You brush yourself trying to get rid of any possible dirt in your costume before giving him a kind smile.
“Everything good here, uh...”
You stop talking as soon as you realize that you don’t remember the name of the guy you had surely seen in at least two of your classes. He notices that and the smile that had appeared on his face soon falls.
As you’re about to apologize for your bad memory, Carrie screams for you to hurry up, so with one apologetic smile you leave.
It is through the performance of Wow that your eyes catch sight of Julie and three more guys by her side. You make sure to send her a smile when she catches your eyes, nostalgia over your lost friendship suddenly making an appearance.

730 Hours Before the Shooting
Your life had definitely changed for the better, as bizarre as it was now. Two months ago you had decided to fix your friendship with Julie -three ghosts being a much needed push- while also getting to know three kind -formerly mentioned- ghosts.
You and the guys were close, probably as close as you had become with Flynn and as you once were -and thankfully were again- with Julie.
Luke and you had bonded over songwriting. Both of you making the songs for Julie and the Phantoms, something Julie liked to tease you about a lot especially when she noticed that your usual roll of eyes had turned into a deep red blush.
Of course becoming friends with Julie had put a strain on your friendship with Carrie. The strawberry blonde snapping at you at every possible opportunity yet never truly hurting you as you were her best friend.
Either way, after the growth of Julie’s band, the realization that the boys had to cross over, them playing at the Orpheum to fulfill their unfinished business, them discovering playing at the Orpheum wasn’t their unfinished business, and then their love for one another saving them from ceasing to exist and somehow becoming tangible to both Julie and you while also gaining the new ability to be seen as far as they concentrated deeply. You had learned to appreciate the little gifts of the universe more and more.
You were accepting everything it was throwing at you because so far you had loved the unexpected things it had sent.
You were in a happy place. Julie was in a happy place. So were the boys and the Molina’s. And even if she didn’t voice it, you knew Carrie was too, the strawberry blonde too proud to admit she missed Julie and hoped she could soon get close to through you.
Things were good. Nothing could hurt you guys, everything was perfect.

336 Hours Before the Shooting
Julie and the Phantoms and Dirty Candy had a gig. More importantly, the same gig. A concert was being held at the Hollywood Bowl to showcase young artists and both bands had been accepted.
It was a huge opportunity.
So as expected, none of them so one another during the week they got the news as all were too invested in rehearsing to give out the best performance they could. This event could be life changing.
But you could only spend so much time apart from songwriting -especially if it was with a certain ghost-, so you and Luke had decided to meet every two days at your room at night to write new songs. None of you could use them for the presentation though as it wouldn’t be fair to the other.
After your third meeting, Luke had accidentally asleep on your bed with you -the need for sleep being a consequence of using the newly found powers too much- and soon it became a habit that whenever he came he would stay.
So your relationship grew. And you loved that as much you denied it, Julie’s knowing smirk always reminding you that no one believed it.
Even Carrie knew you had a crush, the strawberry blonde making sure to mention it on the next Dirty Candy rehearsal.
“I want everyone on their very best. We have to be the best performance there” she reminds them for the hundredth time “I want your concentration the following weeks on the performace. Understood, Y/N? No cute guitarists”
The blush and glare you sent your best friend’s way was enough to make a smirk appear on her face and her eyes to soften before ending the break and starting rehearsals once again.

168 Hours Before the Shooting
You smiled as Carrie laughed loudly, proud to have been the one who made the smile appear on her face. You were the only one -after Julie- that had ever been able to make her smile like that, though the smiles Julie got were always followed by a small blush.
The two of you were having your weekly sleepover. Both of you having stated since the start of high school that every week, no matter how busy they were, they would give one day to sleep at either house to catch up. It was a good way to keep the strong bond you two had while also letting go of the problems and stress you adquire during the week.
This time both of you found yourselves in Y/N’s empty house. It wasn’t uncommon knowledge that Y/N’s widowed mother was working -as she was a surgeon, her father being one too when he was alive- so she mostly spent the nights by herself.
Carrie, being Trevor Wilson’s daughter, had also spent months alone with his father going on tours or spending hours at the recording studio. You both had basically grown up with nannies, you had it better though since it was only after your father’s dead that the nannies appeared.
That’s why Rose Molina’s death had hit you both almost as hard as it had hit Julie. You had both loved her deeply, seeing her as a mother figure. The Molina’s always having their house opened for the both of you, something you’d both be forever thankful for.
The fight between Julie and Carrie had been nasty and big, both refusing to ever mentioning the details, which left you and Flynn to take side neither wanting to leave either alone. Of course, when the time came you went with Carrie as she trusted you the most -her and Flynn never seeing eye-to-eye as the strawberry blonde’s crush for the cute singer grew-.
So, as you both laughed while the movie Five Feet Apart played in your room’s television was completely ignored by you both, you couldn’t help but be grateful for the girl sitting in front of you. Even though Carrie had this bad spoiled rich girl persona for the people around them to see, inside she was just an insecure kind-hearted girl who just wanted someone to care.
The laughter soon dies as you both look at each other with soft smiles, the strawberry blonde’s smile falling as she gazes at your door with a sad look in her face. The silence settling between the two.
“Do you think someone’d notice if we were gone?” She asks softly as if she was afraid of the answer.
“Of course” Your answer is quick, without hesitation.
Her brown sad eyes soon stare at you, “Would they notice if I was gone?”
The questions doesn’t catch you off guard as you often knew your best friend’s fear of being forgotten. She didn’t have a close group of friends. It had always been Carrie, Julie, and Y/N. Somewhere along the way Flynn joined, but otherwise it had always been the three of you. And then, it was you two. Nick soon joined you both but after the breakup he had been acting weird. So, Carrie only had you. She loved the girls from her group but other than Kayla she didn’t actually get along with them. So it was only Y/N.
“They would” Y/N answers without hesitation, “More importantly, I would”
That’s enough to bring the smile back to the face of the leader of Dirty Candy, her soon tackling you in a hug. Laughter filling the emptiness of your house once again.

48 Hours Before the Shooting
To say all of you were nervous was an understatement. That Saturday was the event at the Hollywood Bowl, so the two groups had been rehearsing nonstop and trying on outfits. Everything had to be perfect.
Dirty Candy was performing a new song called Sweet Melody at said event, featuring Y/N’s voice alongside Carrie’s. All the members had been surprised when their leader had given the idea, saying the chorus was better suited for your range, but neither had complained as they had loved your voice.
That’s why as you opened the door to your locker, your mouth was mouthing the lyrics in complete concentration. You were nervous of forgetting the words and freezing on stage, so you practice as much as you could.
Getting your Algebra II book out you head to your class, smiling once you see Julie and going to sit beside her. Soon both of you start talking, only stopping once the teacher walks in and starts her class.
You have a bored expression on your face as you copy what Mrs. Matthews writes on the board, only to have your attention caught by a boy entering the class completely out of breath.
“Mr. Rogers, glad you could join us” ironizes your teacher.
You look at the boy with pity, though you soon recognize it as the one you bumped into when you were on your way to perform at the school’s pep rally. Rogers, so that was his name.
“I don’t care whatever your excuses are” States Mrs. Matthews, “This is the fourth time you’re late, so please go to the principal’s office”
As soon as you see the angry look on his face you let your gaze wander to your songbook, not in the mood to watch him fight with the teacher. You keep your concentration on the song you were currently writing.
That is until the loud slam of the door makes your head snap up, your eyes finding Mrs. Matthews’ shocked face. Your eyes find Julie’s to find the girl as lost as you as she has been doodling on her notebook.
Class continues and the bell soon rings letting you know it is time for lunch, Julie and you walking side by side.
“I read the song your mom wrote, by the way,” You add seeing her eyes light up as you mention it “It is truly amazing, Jules, it is a very powerful song”
“I’m so glad you finally read it” She smiles, “I was thinking maybe we could duet it someday? It would definitely be cool, don’t you think?”
You smile softly before turning it into a smirk, “Julie and the Phantom’s leader with Y/N Y/L/N from Dirty Candy, sounds interesting”
She nudges you with an amused look before you both enter the cafeteria laughing. None of the students making noise in the cafeteria notice the angry looking kid sitting alone at one of the last tables.
How much would’ve things changed if someone had noticed?

10 Minutes Before the Shooting
Friday couldn’t have come sooner, both groups excited for the concert that was happening the next day. Though, that day seemed to be everlasting as you and Carrie walked to your last class of the day, the only class you both had with Julie and Flynn: Music.
As you make a quick stop to your locker to grab the music sheets for the song you were presenting today, Luke appears beside you making you let out a strangled scream.
“You need to stop that, Lu” You whisper while eyeing your surroundings, “Otherwise I’ll end up joining you on the other side soon”
The guitarist laughs at your joke before leaning on the locker beside your own, a soft smile on his face.
“Nervous about tomorrow?”
You close your locker before making your way to music class, Luke soon walking beside you.
“Totally” you breathe out, “We’re going to be in front of thousands of people, thousands, Luke. Thi-this is HUGE”
The boy smiles excitedly, “I cannot believe it is happening either but I can’t wait. I’m so excited to rehearse today one last time”
“Me too, Dirty Candy’s routine is going to make the crowd go wow”
Luke lets out an exaggerated groan as he hears your lame joke referring to one of your band’s songs, a smile soon adorning his features.
“You’re coming to reahearsal today, right? Songwriting session after?”
“Songwriting session after” You promise before entering your classroom, the ghost soon disappearing to go to the Molina’s studio.
You take your seat besides Carrie, not missing Julie’s teasing smirk sent your way as she caught Luke before he poofed out. You roll your eyes at her with a small smile before paying attention to Mrs. Harrison’s lesson.
Not even two minutes later, a loud bang sounds throughout the school. The loud noise echoing in each classroom making every student freeze in confusion.
Another loud noise soon follows before the screams start. Mrs. Harrison soon jumps to action going to lock the classroom door.
“Everybody down! Against the walls! Cover your heads!” She whispers loudly as she turns off the lights, “Boys, help me move the desks in front of the door”
Everyone soon moves to do as told. Carrie, Julie, Flynn, and Y/N soon snuggling in a corner together, the four of you staring wide-eyed at one another as you feel the fear of the unknown crawling through your bodies.
You listened to the hurried steps of students running through the hallways as more screams pierce through the halls. Gunshots echoing.
“Now, I know this is scary and I know you’re confused, kids,” whispers Mrs. Harrison, “but I need you all to start sending texts to anyone outside of school. We need to make sure the authorities know what is happening”
You feel tears start sliding down your cheeks as your confusion turns into panic, your heart beating fastly in your chest as you grab your phone with your shaky hands. Out of the corner of your eye you see your best friends soon doing the same.
Everyone too scared to say something, the only sound being the muffled sobs that everyone lets out. Your breathing stops once you hear Julie’s ringtone sound loudly, the girl soon quieting it down.
“Everyone keep your phones on silence, no one needs to know we are here” their music teacher reminds them, “Remember every drill we’ve had, you have to follow three simple steps: Run, Hide, and as a last resource Defend”
Your clean your tears with your shaking hand as you try to stop the blurriness of your vision only to have more tears appear, you feel Julie take your hand and interlocking your fingers with hers.
“I’m scared” She whispers.
You look at her with tears blurring your vision, your face saying what you can’t, as somehow you can’t seem to find your voice. Another gunshot, this one closer than before, tears through the halls making you all let out strangled screams. Carrie jumping to your side -the one not occupied by Julie- and Flynn jumping to Julie’s.
The four of you staying close as tears stream down all of your faces.
From where you’re hiding you cannot see your classmates nor Mrs. Harrison’s, the soft cries being the only thing that makes you know they are there.
Another piercing scream followed by a gunshot tear through the school, the four of you letting out silent sobs. You grab your phone with shaky hands before typing fastly a text to your mom.
If anything happens, mom, I love you. -Y/N
You close your eyes as you try to calm your breathing, the thumping of your heart echoing in your ears. Another gunshot. You jump in your place with your eyes still close and a strong hold on both of your best friends.
Another gunshot and soon the doorknob jiggles, letting everyone know someone is trying to open the door. Everyone in the music room holds their breath as fear crawls through their skins.
All the laughs, the smiles, the tears, the moments you spent by your dad’s bed at the hospital, the rehearsals with the band, the sleepovers with Carrie, the time spent with Julie and Flynn, the moments you spent at the Molina’s studio, the songwriting with Luke. Everything comes crashing down.
The door is hit with force, the person trying to get in trying to make the door budge. You bite your lip hard to stop the scream that wants to make its way out of your throat.
The door is pushed one more time before steps resonate letting you all know the person is leaving. You let out a shaky breath, tears flowing neverending down your cheeks.
“I’m so so sorry, Julie” Whispers Carrie, “I’m sorry about our fight, I’m sorry for not letting you apologize and for pushing you away, I’m sorry for making Y/N and Flynn take sides, I’m sorry for taking Nick, and I’m sorry for never telling you I loved you”
You stared at the strawberry blonde with red puffy wide eyes, Carrie looking scared to death as she says what she had been keeping herself from saying this last year. Tears stream down her pale face as silent sobs shake her small body.
Julie moves quietly to get closer to her to hug her, both girls shaking in fear as they reconcile. Flynn moves to the spot Julie once resided, taking Y/N’s hand. Everyone crying softly as they wait for someone to tell them it’s okay to come out.
None of you know how long you stay there until there is a knock on the door making you all freeze with fear.
“This is L.A. P.D., everything is okay now. Is anyone in there?”
You all let out a breath of relief. Y/N closing her eyes as she lets out a loud sob, soon everyone crying their hearts out as they are soon escorted out of the room.
You hear the police ask for everyone to raise their hands, soon everyone doing as told, and to not look at your surroundings. Soon all of you being escorted to the outside in a line, though you can’t stop your eyes from drifting through the hallway once catching sight of all the blood.
You take a shaky breath as you feel the tears still flowing down your face.
The four girls hug each other tightly as they walk out into the school ground. All of your eyes taking their time to adjust to the bright sun. Faintly, you hear the police tell you all to not look back and decide to obey them this time as the glimpses of the blood and the bodies you saw inside were enough to have you struggling to breathe.
“Dad!” You hear Julie screaming in relief before detaching from all of you and running to his father’s arms.
It is when you see them hugging that your blurry eyes catch sight of your heartbroken mother, who soon runs to get to you with relief washing over her. It is until you are in her arms that the world around you starts spinning again.
The sounds become clearer and so does your vision as the pressure of everything finally leaves your body, sobs shaking your body in the safety of your mother’s arms. Out of the corner of your eyes you see Flynn and Carrie reuniting with their own parents as well as many other students.
But as you see reunions, you soon see the heartbreaking faces of realization and the agonizing screams of the losses of their children. Your sobs becoming louder.
Your mother soon falling with you to the floor as your knees give in, the weight of your body becoming too much as you try to put yourself back together. This wasn’t supposed to happen. How could this have happened? Why did it happen? Why?

96 Hours After the Shooting
Carrie, Flynn, Julie, and Y/N were cuddling together on the studio’s couch, their parents inside the Molina’s home. After the incident, the four of them had been joined to the hip only untangling themselves from the other to go sleep at their own houses.
Julie and Carrie holding hands tightly as they all stare at the wall silently with soft music playing in the background. School was closed until further noticed and you had all bailed on the concert at the Hollywood Bowl. The members of Sunset Curve watched you all carefully with heavy hearts. They all felt guilty for not being there for either of you.
Luke feeling his heart break whenever he saw a tear make its way down your face without your knowledge. None of them could ever understand the fear that any of you had felt at that moment or how it had scarred all of you.
So they just stood beside the four of you in a protective way, making sure you all knew you weren’t alone. And everynight, as the fear of closing your eyes and hearing the echoing of the shots ring through your head, Luke would poof in and lay beside you, singing a sweet lullaby to help you sleep.
Though you always woke up in a terrified daze, the guitarist soon jumping to bring you back to reality.

Silently, you stand up and head out of your room and downstairs to grab a glass of water. The sun rising through the sky to signal a new day. You gaze at it intently as you drink the water slowly, your heart calming down as it sees the beauty of it.
You weren’t okay. Neither of you was.
It would probably take a long time before either of you were completely okay, and even then the memory would haunt you. All you could do is take it one step at a time, trusting that the people who loved you would be ready to catch you if you stumbled. You were willing to do the same for the girls.
All of you would soon have to start attending the funerals of your classmates, of the people whose face you had all grown used to seeing, of people you had grown up with. You would have to be in the presence of heartbroken parents who screamed their lungs out in agony for the child they lost.
Your grip on the glass of water tightens as you feel your chest become heavier. One step at a time, you repeat in your head, one step at a time.
You feel Luke appear behind you, his arms soon wrapping around your waist as his face hides in your neck. A small smile makes its way to your face, one of your hands letting go of the glass of water to hold his arm. One step at a time, you repeated.
One step at a time.

Pairings: Alive!Luke Patterson x Alive!Reader
Summary: What if ever since you were born in your wrist you had tattoed the counted time till' you met your soul mate?
| MASTERLIST |
According to the internet, a soulmate is a person with whom one has a feeling of deep or natural affinity. This may involve similarity, love, romance, platonic relationships, comfort, intimacy, sexuality, sexual activity, spirituality, compatibility and trust.
That is why the numbers on your wrist that counted down the time until you met your soulmate were important. Everybody was born with them.
And you weren’t the exception. As soon as you were born the numbers 140160 hrs had been engraved in your right wrist.
The numbers changing as you grew up.
You didn’t believe much on the soulmate deal. How could something so so random as a number in your wrist decide who you spent the rest of your life with?
Your mom and dad certainly were a good example of why it wouldn’t work. Soulmates or not, life can still throw its punches at you and your parents weren’t able to fight through them together.
When your wrist had the numbers 61320 hrs engraved on it your parents filed their divorce, your mom taking your full custody.
That definitely made you not look forward to finding your soulmate, especially after you saw how it had affected your parents.
Because even when their decision had been the right one —the constant fighting you had grown around of not being your best memories— it had made them lose a part of themselves.
Their souls yearning for the other’s warmth to feel —to be— complete.
That was the problem with meeting your soulmate, once you did the before didn’t exist anymore.
As soon as you met them, that part of you that had been longing for them, waiting for them, wakes up not allowing you to imaging life without the other.
You didn’t want that.
You were fine with your life as it was, concentrating on what you were truly passionate about: your music.
Who needed a soulmate?

You stared at both of your best friends in front of you in disbelief. Since you had met your next-door neighbor, Julie Molina, when you were nine you both had become instant friends.
Both of you had a love for music and Julie’s mom, Rose, made sure to teach you both everything she knew about it.
That is why your friendship with Julie had grown so much, both of you soon joined to the hip.
Your friendship with Carrie, on the other hand, was due to your mom being her dad’s producer. You had basically known the strawberry blonde your whole life.
Yet, somehow, you had never noticed the way the number on either of their wrists was changing as the day you had decided on introducing each other got closer.
And that’s why right now you found yourself staring with wide eyes at both your best friends, who stared at the 0 engraved on their wrists in awe.
“I... I was not expecting this” you whisper.
Your words are enough to make Carrie snap out of her daze and smile at Julie, with a special glint in her brown eyes.
“I-I am Carrie” she smiles sweetly at the hispanic.
Julie blushes under the other girl’s stare, “I’m J-Julie”
You roll your eyes before excusing yourself, going to sit on the stool on the cafeteria’s counter deciding they should have this time to properly meet each other.
At the end of the day, you only met your soulmate once.
You stare at them across the room, seeing how their smiles are a little bigger and their eyes a little brighter as they stare at one another.
How did that happen? Was it the sole fact that they knew they were in front of their soulmate what caused that effect?
What made meeting your soulmate such a life changing event? Was it because of the way the people talk about it? What made meeting your soulmate so different from meeting someone else other than the fact that you knew they were —somehow— destined to be with you?
Your e/c eyes move to your right wrist, the numbers 35040 hrs engraved on it in a black bold handwriting.
Was it weird that you dreaded the moment you met him or her? Was it weird that you wanted to date other people and decide by yourself who you wanted to be with?
You were just twelve years old, you couldn’t imagine yourself meeting someone and just knowing you wanted to be by that person’s side for your whole life.
That was just nonsense.

You found yourself running to the music room with Flynn and Carrie by your sides, Julie just having sent an SOS text to meet her there.
That had gotten the three best friends out of their seats in their Algebra class, ignoring your teacher’s protests, and running to the class you all liked to fool around so much in.
You were expecting to find the brunette crying her heart out or for her to be anxiously pacing around the room, you were definitely not expecting to see her jumping in excitement.
“I have a band!”
Her words made the three of you go from being confused to jumping in excitement with her, knowing the girl had been having a hard time with music since her mother died.
All of you had it hard, neither knowing how to live in a world without the mentoring and warmth of Rose Molina, but you all had been strong to be Julie’s rock. God knows how hard it had to be for her.
So they were definitely trill to hear that the girl they loved so much was finally happy again.
Carrie soon pulling her girlfriend in for a sweet kiss, before all of them soon tackle the Molina in a group hug.
Julie Molina had been fifteen when she had lost her mom. She had been fifteen the last time she had sung. It was after a year that Y/N had finally helped the brunette find her way to music again after finding a song her mother wrote for her when finally cleaning the studio —as neither of the Molina’s felt they could do it— so Mr. Molina could take pictures for the state agent.
Needless to say, once Julie heard about the song she couldn’t stay away from music anymore.
She sang.
After that, the girl had slowly started to come back to them. Now? Now she seemed to be back completely as she explained to them how is it she now had a band.
Apparently, you weren’t the only reason why she had decided to sing again. She had met a boy named Luke in the diner you guys love.
Said boy had been writing a song when —without meaning to— Julie had seen what he was writing and had helped him out on a verse he was working on.
She hadn’t meant to do it, it had just happened.
But that had made Luke follow her around, annoying her until she admitted she used to do music. After that, Reggie and Alex —the other boys of the band and apparently Luke’s best friends— had join Luke in trying to remind her what she loved about music.
The passion in the way they talked about music had awakened Julie’s curiosity for it, and when Y/N told her about the song she couldn’t resist.
She had been meeting with Luke to write songs behind their backs, Carrie scoffing in jealousy at that, before the boys had asked her to join Sunset Curve.
“We’re gonna change the band’s name though” admits the latina “A lot of things have changed for them, one of their bandmates left with Luke’s songs before they met me and that messed up with their sound”
“What about Julie and her Ghosts? Can’t believe you kept these guys a secret”
Julie noticing the jealous tone in her girlfriend’s voice, smiles before holding the strawberry blonde’s hand. Carrie soon smiling happily.
“I’m sorry I kept them from you” she apologizes “I’ve just been wanting to see if it’d work first, didn’t want to get all of your hopes up for nothing”
Flynn sighs before smiling towards her best friend, “It’s okay, Jules. When can we meet them then?”
“Today is the day you meet the ghosts” she smiles excitedly “Afterschool at the studio, that okay?”
You share a look with Carrie and Flynn before nodding with a smile.
“Let’s meet Julie and her Phantoms”
Unknowingly, to you your right wrist now had the numbers 6 hrs 37 mins on it, the exact amount of time before you’d find yourself walking through the white doors of Julie’s studio.
You had decided to stop looking at your wrist as soon as you had turned sixteen, making sure to cover it with as many bracelets as you could to avoid looking at it by mistake.
You didn’t want a soulmate.

Carrie, Flynn and Y/N were riding their bikes to Julie’s house while talking about how they thought the guys looked.
You all had agreed to meet to go to Julie’s house at 4 o’clock after going to your own homes to change clothes and were happily making your way to the place you had all once loved.
The three of you were excited to be on the studio again, you had even brought with you your songbook. You were excited to show Julie the songs you had written.
It had been so long since she had read your songs. Hopefully, you’d both be writing songs together again.
“I’m pretty sure they’re hot”
Flynn’s comment makes you and Carrie laugh out loud before coming to a stop in front of the Molina’s home. The three of you throwing your bikes on their yard.
“I’m serious! I’m thinking we’re about to see some well done boys in there, we should probably stop to check we’re presentable enough”
“Flynn, we’re already late to Julie’s band rehearsal” Carrie points out “No time to stop”
You feel your wrist tingle weirdly as you position yourself in front of your best friends while walking backwards to the studio.
Not knowing your wrist was tingling because the numbers on it were going down.
20, 19, 18, 17, 16...
“And if I may add, I believe we’re already looking quite hot” You smirk teasingly at them “As a matter of fact”
You’re almost at the studio, as the sound of an unknown melody becomes louder with every step you give.
15, 14, 13, 12, 11...
“I think they’re not ready for us” You state sassily “And they’re teenagers, how hot can they be?”
Flynn and Carrie stop, so you do too. The one with braids widening her eyes at the sight behind you.
“I think very very hot”
10, 9, 8, 7...
Seeing Carrie nod her head in agreement, you turn around to see what they mean. You e/c eyes finding Julie’s figure as she sings her heart out, oblivious to the three new arrivals.
Your heart start thumping loudly in your chest as your wrist starts tingling even more, which weirds you out but you choose to ignore it. Not noticing the way the guitarists looks weirded out too as he tries to keep his focus on the song they’re playing.
Your eyes soon move towards the blond drummer before going to the dark-haired bass player.
6, 5, 4, 3...
You admire them for a while before moving your eyes to the lead guitarist, your breath coming out quicker against your control.
Black vans, black ripped jeans with chains on them, black Rolling Stone’s sleeveless t-shirt, different colored bracelets on his wrists and many rings on his hand.
2...
Your eyes go from well built arms to shaggy brown untamed hair. The guitarist’s head turning as he feels his chest tighten with an unknown feeling.
1...
Luke shakes his head before trying to focus on the song once again, turning around to go back to his microphone stand his eyes find the three new people standing by the studio’s doors.
His bright green eyes soon meeting enchanting e/c eyes.
0.
Luke’s hand stops playing abruptly, the rest of the band member stopping in confusion as the sound of the guitar fades.
Though Julie’s confused look soon becomes an excited one as she sees all of you by the doors.
“Girls!”
She runs excitedly towards you three, grabbing your hands not noticing the way your eyes don’t leave the ones of the green-eyed boy.
The tingling on both of your wrists gone.
“I’m so glad you’re finally here” she turns to the boys with a smile “Guys, these intruders are the bestest of friends in the whole world”
She points to all of you, “That is Carrie, my better half, that is Flynn, and this one over here is Y/N”
She then turns to the three girls, Carrie being the first to notice your wide eyes, “Girls, this Alex, Reggie, and Luke. Julie and the Phantoms, name credits go to you, Y/N/N”
“Y/N/N, you okay?”
Carrie’s question has your best friends looking towards you in worry, Alex and Reggie soon asking the same thing to a frozen Luke.
Though, it is Julie the one that notices the way your left hand grips your right wrist tightly. Getting close enough to you to pull your hand away and move your many bracelets.
A gasp escapes her as she graces at the black bold 0 on it.
Her brown eyes look towards your surprised ones as you still stare at Luke, not knowing exactly what is it you feel at that moment.
Reggie, being filled with curiosity, copies Julie’s actions with Luke. An awestruck look on his face as soon as he sees the 0 etched on his skin.
That seems to snap the guitarist from his shock, his green eyes moving towards his wrist in wonder.
As soon as you find yourself free from his gaze, you move your hand away from Julie and run out of the studio.
“Y/N!”
You ignore Julie’s screams for you and hop on your bike before pedaling to your house. Your heart beating loudly in your chest as you feel... empty.
Your eyes hadn’t become brighter and your smile hadn’t grown.
You hadn’t felt all the things they had ever told you you’d feel. All you had felt was fear. Fear of having a soulmate, fear of not knowing how to talk to said soulmate, fear of not being able to connect with said person.

A few days had passed since you had run out of Julie’s band rehearsal and you hadn’t bother to go see Julie when the band was there.
Your best friends trying to make you talk to Luke yet still supportive when you stated you weren’t ready. You wanted to believe it was because they understood but something told you it was because said boy probably didn’t want to see you just yet too.
That’s why you weren’t worried when you agreed to study with Julie that day, both of you finishing your assignments in record time before proceeding to look through your songs.
“These are amazing, Y/N/N” she smiles sweetly after finishing reading the song you never got to finish “Have you shown me this one before though? I feel like I’ve already read it”
You shake your head confused, you hadn’t shown that song to anyone. You had written it a long time ago when you had felt incredibly alone and had, for the first time, wished for you soulmate.
You hadn’t been able to finish it and soon you had forgotten it existed. Until a few days ago, meeting your —apparent— soulmate had made you look for the song.
You wanted to finish it but couldn’t for some reason.
“Never, Jules” she looks at you confused “Anyways, I had an idea for a piano intro for the first verse that I wanted to run by you first”
“Sure, just let me go upstairs to bring my stuff. And probably some snacks”
You nod your head before watching her leave. You sigh before gazing at the unfinished lyrics in your songbook annoyed.
Since when was finishing a song such a hard task?
With a scoff, you stand up from the couch and move to the piano with your songbook in hand. Soon accommodating yourself to start playing the song, hoping that would help you snap out of whatever writer’s block you had and finish it.
Softly, the chords you had in mind are played by you before your voice sings the first verse.
“Sometimes I think I'm falling down
I wanna cry, I'm callin' out
For one more try to feel alive”
Without your knowledge, a certain green-eyed boy stopped outside of the studio as soon as he heard you.
“And when I feel lost and alone
I know that I can make it home”
You look at the lyrics with a narrowed gaze before trying out the first words that come to mind when the memory of a pair of green eyes come to mind.
“Fight through the dark
And... find the spark”
The boy sneaks a glance at you, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he remembers the unfinished song in his black songbook.
The song he had started writing after a fight with her mom concerning the band. He had felt so sad that he had yearn the comfort of someone who understood his pain without knowing it.
You stop playing then let out a frustrated groan as you come out with nothing to add before making your way to your —incomplete— chorus.
“Life is a risk but I will take it
Close my eyes and jump”
Your eyes snap to the owner of the unknown voice, finding the green eyes you had been dreading —yet longing— to see.
You see him struggling for what to come next, finding you actually know what would go right after what he had just sung.
“Together I think that we can make it”
He looks at you in surprise before smiling and singing the end of what would be your song’s pre-chorus.
“Come on, let's run”
Neither of you move, both of you staring deeply into each other’s eyes. Julie, who had just arrived with snacks, quietly leaves you both knowing you were just about to realize why you were soulmates.
Luke coughs as a blush makes its way to his face before moving towards his songbook —the reason he had come to the studio in the first place— on his guitar’s amp.
You watch him quietly, him soon making his way towards you hesitating before taking a sit besides you on the piano.
You ignore the loud thumping of your heart as you feel your knees touch his.
His green eyes find your e/c ones before he opens his songbook, holding it out to you once he finds the song he wants to show you.
Bright
In times that I doubted myself
I felt likе I needed some help
Stuck in my hеad with nothing left
I feel something around me now
So unclear...
Life is a risk but I will take it
Close my eyes and jump
Come on, let's run
And rise through the night
Bright forever
And rise through the night
Bright forever
You felt your breath catch in your throat as you finally understand what’s written in his awful handwriting. The lyrics and melody matching your song perfectly.
You, wordlessly, push your songbook towards him, Luke soon reading it in wonder.
“How do you feel about Julie and the Phantoms getting a new song?”
It was safe to say that it was that night that you finally understood why all the fuzz going around about soulmates.
As Luke and you worked Bright together your eyes shined brighter and your smile never disappeared from your face. You had never felt so complete in your whole life.
And staring at the boyish grin on the brunette’s face as you finished singing the newly finish soon-to-be hit of the band, you couldn’t help but think that maybe —just maybe— having a soulmate wasn’t so bad.
I made a silly thing for my silly fic

Pairings: Alive!Luke Patterson x Alive!Reader
Summary: An obsession that became a friendship and flourished to love. That’s the story between Sunset Curve’s lead singer and guitarist Luke Patterson and Y/N Y/L/N.
| MASTERLIST |
Sunset Curve was the boy band of the moment. Luke, Alex, Reggie, and Bobby were everyone’s dream boys. What started as a small band playing on the garage of their best friend, Julie Molina, ended up with millions of fans all over the world as they tour it.
It started as a dream and a small group of friends. Julie helping the boys with the band management while Carrie Wilson, Bobby’s rich cousin, designed all their outfits. It had been the six of them at the start.
But their fame grew and things were asked of them. The boys soon started homeschooling and Julie’s mom, Rose, took over the management of the band.
Julie and Carrie stayed behind as the boys grew busier and that’s when they met Flynn and Y/N.
The four of them became best friends in no time and soon they stopped missing the boys. They chatted from time to time with them but they were okay with them not being there.
Of course, Y/N and Flynn had no idea that the two teenagers were Sunset Curve’s best friends. It had been a silent agreement between Carrie and Julie that they didn’t need to know, especially since Y/N was probably their biggest fan.
Not the normal ‘I love you’ kinda fan but the ‘I’ll kidnap you’ kind. It was okay, they thought it was hilarious but it was definitely better if she didn’t know.
But soon the girls found themselves in their junior year of high school with the news that Sunset Curve was coming back to LA and to Los Feliz High School.
Carrie and Julie walked with dread around the hallways of their school as soon as they received the call from Carrie’s father, Trevor Wilson, stating that the tours had been paused so that the boys could have their last year of high school with the full experience.
They were gonna spend their senior year with them at their high school. As much as the girls like the idea, they dreaded it. But it was happening.
“JULIE! CARRIE!”
The yell of Y/N had both girls flinching as they knew the reason behind the excited scream and the smiling Y/N pulling an annoyed Flynn across the hallway towards them.
“Did you hear?! Do you know?! Can you believe it?! This is so exciting!! We’ll meet, it’ll be love at first sight!! I cannot believe it!! It’s destiny! This is the—”
“Y/N! Honey, I love you but you need to calm down” Carrie cuts her off.
“We need to tell you something” Julie starts while sharing a look with her blonde friend, “We actually kno—”
“CARRIE!/JULIE!”
The scream of the girls’ names has everybody in the hallways turning their gazes towards the sources, everybody gasping as they see the boys of Sunset Curve in all their glory.
Y/N let’s out a strangled scream as she sees them running towards two of her best friends with huge smiles.
Carrie and Julie share a worried glance before looking at Flynn, the braided girl grabbing the fangirl from her shoulders to keep her in her place.
Soon, the boys find themselves by the four girls’ sides and Y/N feels her legs shake as they hug Julie and Carrie.
“It’s been so long, we have missed you!” Exclaims Reggie while holding Carrie’s stare a while longer than necessary.
The six of them start catching up and it takes a while before they notice the other two girls, but Alex does and soon acknowledges them.
“Hey, I’m Alex”
Y/N’s legs give out and soon Flynn is catching her with a groan, Carrie and Julie looking at their friend in worry.
“Um... this is Flynn and this—”
“OH MY GO—”
Flynn covers Y/N’s mouth with an apologetic smile before leaving with her, despite Y/N’s efforts to stay.
Julie smiles at the boys, “That is Y/N. Our best friends”
“She is a huge fan” Carrie adds.
The boys laugh a little weirded out before proceeding to catch up with the girls they saw as family.
As the days passed, things started finding its way. Carrie once again started making the outfits for the boys and Julie now took over songwriting with Luke.
Y/N, on the other hand, kept going as she always did. She daily updated her Sunset Curve fan club blog, now with better content thanks to actually knowing the boys, as well as followed them around as much as she could.
Things didn’t change too much on her but her friendship with the boys grew. Thanks to being one of Julie’s best friends, Y/N spend most of her time at the Molina’s house and so did the boys.
Movie nights happened a lot and Y/N didn’t faint anymore at the sight of them.
So it got better. But she was still crazy about them and it showed whenever they didn’t give her enough time to control her emotions before going near her.
“Hey, Y/N/N”
A shriek leaves the h/c haired girl before her pretty e/c eyes turn to Luke. All sleeveless-beanie-vans Luke.
“Uh—I.wh—Hi”
If the brown-haired guitarist noticed her stutter, he didn’t mention it. Instead he turns his phone towards her showing her a photo of him while on tour.
“I want to post this on Instagram. Is it good enough?”
One thing the boys had noticed as soon as they got to know the girl was that she was a talented photographer, meaning she had an eye to know which pictures were the best ones.
So, they always asked her before posting something and sometimes even let her post from their accounts.
“I—Uh...”
Y/N stares at the photo intently, choosing to focus on that instead than on the pretty looking teenager in front of her.
“May I?”
The lead singer nods and soon the new iPhone is on her shaking hands. Y/N takes a deep breath before starting to edit the photo as she sees best, making sure to not make it look photoshop but to make it look better.
Once she is satisfied with the results, Y/N holds the phone towards Luke who takes it eagerly. A smile takes over his features once he sees the final result.
“This is perfect. You’re the best”
Whatever Y/N was gonna say is quite down by Luke’s soft kiss on her cheek, the boy leaving without knowing what he had caused on the petite teenager.
Carrie, who was on the locker across from the scene, walks towards her best friend with a knowing smirk.
“You’re gonna faint, aren’t you?”
Y/N nods before letting herself fall, Carrie catching her with a small laugh.
For most of that school year the boys saw Y/N as the girls’ best friend and a fan, but not really as a friend. They didn’t really know her.
But after half of the school year they each got to have their fair share of moments with the young girl.
For Reggie it was in one of his darkest moments. The leather jacket lover was being surrounded by a bunch of fans on a trip alone to the beach, it would’ve been okay any day but that day was the anniversary of his parents’ divorce and he couldn’t take it.
So he ran. He ran as far and as fast as he could from them without noticing the curious glance of e/c eyes, without noticing the one person who didn’t stop following him.
He stopped until he thought he was alone and hid from sight, breath short and heart plummeting in his chest. He stopped because his chest started to hurt and his vision became blurry. It soon became harder to breathe and the weight of his body became too much.
He felt his legs give in but before he could fall soft arms went around his waist helping him sit down softly.
He couldn’t see who was the person helping him but he could hear —barely— the soft murmurs on his ear. Was it singing? He didn’t know but it helped soon calm his racing heart allowing him to breathe better.
He didn’t know how much time passed before his vision cleared up and the feeling of suffocation subsided, but it did and he finally saw his holder.
“Y—Y/N?”
The boy’s voice sounded softly, like a whisper, and weak. It was as if he had been lost and had finally found his way home.
“It’s okay, Reg, it’s okay” she softly states, “You had a panic attack but it’s okay now”
Reggie nods slowly before hugging her closer, needing the feeling of loneliness to subside too. And it did. Because she was there.
She didn’t have to be but she was.
They spent a lot of time there just sitting together and talking about random things, never did Y/N burdened him as she normally did and she didn’t questioned him on the reason behind the attack.
All she did was offer a shoulder and a distraction, and that meant the world.
That’s why when Reggie got to the apartment he shares with the other boys he couldn’t wipe the smile off his face.
“Reggie!” Exclaims Luke before hugging him, “Where were you man? We were worried”
Alex and Bobby take their turns hugging the bass player before looking him over for any sign of injuries.
“I am okay, I was with a friend”
After that Reggie always sat by Y/N’s side in class, helped with anything he could for the blog she constantly worked on, and —sometimes— went to the beach with her.
It helped Y/N’s fangirl side control itself, especially since she started seeing him mainly as a friend.
Bobby’s realization of the value of her friendship was different. It happened after a concert the band had in a small cafe on the neighborhood, they were trying to get back to their roots.
The rest of the guys were surrounded by screaming fans as soon as they got off stage. Him, on the other hand, was ignored as usual.
It wasn’t that he wasn’t good looking nor the lack of talent. He just didn’t shine as much as Luke, Reggie, or Alex. And it was okay most of the time, but that night he really felt left out and angry.
At least he did until he saw Y/N in front of him.
“Luke’s over there”
A blush soon covers the teenager’s cheeks causing Bobby to smirk. It was not secret which band member was the one that could make the girl’s cheeks turn a crimson color.
Y/N shakes her head and soon straightens her Sunset Curve crop top before clearing her throat.
“I was... uh—Could I have an interview?”
Bobby furrows his eyebrows, “Wouldn’t you rather interview Luke?”
Confusion settles on the small girl’s face as soon as the words leave the rhythm guitarist’s mouth.
“I thought... did you write the music for this set list?”
He nods and she smiles.
“Then I don’t want to talk to Luke, he gets enough praise already” she assures him “I’m more interested in the process of the making of the melody, can you answer some questions?”
He nods again and soon she starts questioning him, he answers her while watching her in shock. No one had ever minded nor acknowledged his part in the songs.
Y/N did. And every question she asked demonstrated she knew of every single one of his contributions.
She must’ve noticed his demeanor because she put her things away and to smile sweetly at him.
“I’m not the only one that knows what you do, Bobby” she states “Sunset Curve wouldn’t be Sunset Curve without you”
That’s all it took for Y/N to have Bobby by her side, sitting by her every class he could with Reggie. The girl being a stuttering mess at the start but soon finding ways to converse with both rockstars.
Bobby considered her a friend. A friend not because she was family, like Carrie, nor because she was Luke’s best friend, Julie. A friend because she saw him, she saw his value.
He had never been enough but whenever she talked with him about the band with that glint in her eyes he saw he was.
For Alex it was in an entire different environment. The h/c haired beauty saw the blond drummer on an LGBTQ+ parade, both surprised to see the other one there.
The drummer started stuttering trying to find a way to explain the reason why he was there when Y/N just smiled and told her she was bisexual. She even joked about a small fling she had with Julie during their sophomore year.
Alex smiled in relief when she didn’t question him and instead offered to join her as her support. She was giving him the perfect excuse for his presence there, acknowledging he was not ready to voice the truth.
“Thank you” he finally says.
All she does is smile before grabbing his hand and taking him to a group of skaters, mainly towards a long brown-haired on with a rainbow colored skateboard.
“Hey, Willie! I want you to meet a friend of mine”
The three of them talked until morning about their feelings. About how hiding the truth felt like drowning, like living a life that wasn’t theirs to live.
It was like a breath of fresh air for Alex. Talking to someone who understood, someone who had been through their own experiences, it made him realize that his parents’ approval wasn’t worth not being happy.
And happy is what he was choosing to be, especially after Willie gave him his number with a kiss to his cheek.
He walked Y/N to her house in silence after. Both of them with soft smiles on their faces.
“I just don’t want anyone to change the way they see me” he admits “I’m still me”
“You’re still you” She agrees and he nods “Nothing changes, Alex. I still have a crush on you, I just now know I have zero chance”
He laughs, vivid and happily, before hugging her tightly. Next Monday, Alex and Y/N spent most of their time together gossiping about every latest news the teenager girl had.
The girl still froze at first contact with either of the boys but after a while she could hold on normal conversations.
With Luke it was different.
Luke had been writing on Julie’s garage the next song for Sunset Curve, the one he had been having trouble with for the last week, when Y/N ran into the studio.
“I’m here, Julie! You ready for Calcul—AAAHHHH!”
Luke’s hands fly to his ears as he hears the girl’s loud scream. Y/N only stopping when she feels her lungs give in.
“Uh—Wh—I jus—Julie?”
He chuckles while closing his songbook, “Jules is not here. Left to go get Carlos from his baseball practice”
“Oh”
An uncomfortable silence soon settles between them, a silence cut off as soon as the sound of the teenager’s phone taking a photo makes them both look at one another.
“Oh... Oh! Thought I had it in silence” she laughs awkwardly “It’s... uh, for the blog”
He nods with an awkward laugh before opening his songbook once again. He had better things to concentrate on than Julie’s best friend.
Don’t get him wrong, he liked her. He thought she was funny and nice but she was just too much sometimes and he couldn’t handle it. Especially not now when he had a song to worry about.
“What are you doing?”
Her question has him gazing at her for a moment before settling once again in his unfinished lyrics.
“Just writing a new song”
An excited squeal leaves the h/c haired girl and soon Y/N is by his side reading his lyrics through his shoulder.
He shudders once he feels her breath in his neck and he soon turns to look at her, admiring her features as she reads the lyrics carefully.
“What if you... scoot over”
She doesn’t let him answer and is soon pushing him to sit besides him on the piano’s bench, ignoring his protests.
He is about to ask her to let him be when her fingers starts moving through the keys, the melody he had thought for the song —the one written on his songbook— was playing through the studio.
With some little —yet good— changes.
“A piano intro would be great. And then...” she explains before starting to sing softly, “Sometimes I think I'm falling down, I wanna cry, I'm calling out for one more try to feel alive”
Luke’s eyes widen as he hears her soft but powerful voice. He didn’t know she could play, much less sing.
And, wow, she could sing.
“And when I feel lost and alone I know that I can make it home....”
She stopped singing as she saw the empty space on the verse and just as Luke was about to explain the lack of progress she started playing once again.
“Fight through the dark and find the spark. Life is a risk, but I will take it”
“Close my eyes and jump” he adds as she stops, “Together, I think that we can make it”
They look at one another before harmonizing together the end of the verse that he had written down, “Come on, let's run”
She stops playing with a huge smile and both laugh in excitement, both slowly stop laughing without tearing their gazes apart.
A soft blush soon taking over Y/N’s features as she sees the way he gazes at her as if trying to figure her out, which he was. How come he didn’t know she could write, sing, and play like that? How come he didn’t actually know her?
The moment, though, is interrupted as Julie walks through the doors of the garage apologizing to Y/N for being late and then taking her to her room.
Never noticing the curious and amazed expression on the guitarist’s face.
Soon the four members of Sunset Curve were in awe of the obsessive fan who annoyed them as much as she could, soon she didn’t truly annoyed them.
The rest of the boys’ senior year was spent amazingly with the girls, but the year ended and the boys had to go back to prioritizing their band while the girls did their senior year.
They all FaceTimed a lot. They tried to stay in contact as much as possible during that year, especially Carrie and Reggie —since they started dating a few months before the boys graduated—, but they were all pretty busy. Even Y/N who was still daily updating the band’s blog.
Experiences happened, lessons were learned, the girls grew and soon they graduated.
Everything changed.
That was the first thing Luke and the boys noticed when the girls moved in with them at their mansion to help with the band while they also attended college.
Everything had changed.
For starters, Julie and Flynn were now in relationships. Julie was dating a boy named Nick and Flynn a girl named Kayla, they both met them during the end of their senior year and had been together since.
Carrie, also, was now wearing her hair shoulder-length and straight instead of the long blonde waves she used to rock before. And she was now doing an internship of a famous designer’s brand that Luke didn’t know the name of.
But who had surprised the four of them the most was Y/N. The girl who the first three months they met her couldn’t stop herself from throwing herself at Luke. The girl who never once started a conversation with them without a stutter. The girl who was the president of their fan club. The girl to used to silently follow them around and admire them.
That girl was gone.
Instead Y/N had seen them, smiled, hugged them as a normal friend would, and left with the girls to get settled.
No screaming, no blushing, no overload of excitement.
Totally normal.
In worry, the boys had cornered Julie as soon as she had left her room to start questioning her on the abnormality. Julie laughing as soon as she sees the worry in their eyes.
“She’s no longer the teenager you met, guys. She still loved your music but she’s over you” she chuckles “She’s okay. She’s even dating now instead of waiting around for one of you”
The boys look towards one another in disbelief, Luke’s face falling a little after Julie’s words. She was over him? Why wasn’t he happy about it when that’s all he had wanted since he met her?
The answer to his question was answer soon.
Her being able to talk to them without fainting meant she spent more time with them. It meant she was spending more time with Luke.
Both of them would spend most of their nights on the music studio in the boys’ mansion writing songs and making melodies. They would play around in every break and they would laugh as loud as their voices allowed them to.
It was new to Luke. Being that comfortable with someone that wasn’t the boys or Julie and Carrie, being that comfortable and at peace with someone he met after he gained fame.
He didn’t connect with people as much as he used to since his life changed.
But he connected with her. He had connected with her since that afternoon at Julie’s garage when she showed him a part of her she never really showed.
And he never wanted to stop connecting with her.
That is why when they all went to the beach together he spent most of his time by her side, he loved the random conversations they could make and the way she would scrunch her nose while she laughed.
He didn’t understand what he was feeling until he went to play volleyball with the boys and turned around to catch a boy talking with her.
A handsome stranger that was making her laugh in the cute way only she knew how.
His fists clenched by his sides and soon he was standing besides her, stretching said guy’s hand and telling him all about her obsessive behavior during her junior year.
He hadn’t meant to be mean or to talk about her as if she was a crazy teenager who shouldn’t be trusted. But that’s what he sounded like.
Because he was jealous.
He hadn’t realized he was until he had already scared the boy off only to turn around and find Y/N on the verge of tears.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay. He’s a douche”
“No! You’re the douche!” She takes a step away from him with teary eyes, “Is that how you saw me? A stupid little stalker who couldn’t get over her obsessive crush?”
He stays quiet as he sees the way her beautiful e/c eyes shine with hurt.
“Well, guess what? I’m not stupid anymore because I finally realized the awful mistake that was crushing over you to begin with! I’m over you!”
With those words, Y/N ran off not noticing the stares of her friends as she left. Carrie and Flynn soon running after her while Julie stayed behind with the boys to question his actions.
Actions he couldn’t actually excused. He was jealous and he had hurt her because of that and it wasn’t fair. She didn’t deserve it.
“Luke... how long have you liked her?”
Julie’s question had the green-eyed boy looking at her with surprise before realization settles on him.
He likes her. He’d maybe even go as far as say he was falling in love with her.
“I... I think since that day at your garage”
Julie stares at him in confusion not knowing what time he was talking about but he knew. And that’s all it took for him to grab the curly-haired girl’s hand and ran off with her.
Reggie, Bobby, and Alex scream at him questions at his sudden actions —even Julie does as she is being pulled— but he doesn’t bother answering.
All the answer he gives is pulling out his songbook, Julie’s eyes widening as she realizes what he is planning.
The only way Luke knew to truly express himself was through music and that was what he was going to do. He was going to express his feelings for Y/N through a song.
It took exactly three days to finish the song. Three days in which Y/N spent most of her time in her bedroom trying to avoid running into Luke.
That's why she knew she couldn't do much about Julie coming to get her that day, urging her to get out of her room.
"I'm doing homework, Jules"
"You have more than enough time late" She argues back, "Move, now!"
Her papers are snatched out of her hands by Julie making her scoff, but one look at Julie's brown eyes and she knew she couldn't fight her on this.
With a sigh, Y/N stands up from her seat to follow the curly-haired girl out of her room to the pool.
There they find Carrie and Flynn waiting for them and soon the four best friends start chatting. Bobby, Alex, and Reggie joining them soon. Neither expected the music that started playing through the mansion's speakers.
Everyone looked towards one another in confusion except Julie and Reggie, who smiled at one another as they moved to sit together. The leather jacket boy had been explained everything as soon as Luke thought the melody needed two voices to harmonize with his.
Soon the music is joined by the sound of an acoustic guitar and Luke walks through the door and into view.
Y/N's face shows how confused she feels while all the others start smiling excitedly. Sentiments that grow as Luke starts singing.
“I never thought I would, did it
Never thought I could
I did it like that, did it like this
Did it like everybody knows"
He starts walking towards her with a shy smile, the meaning of the lyrics have his palms sweating and his heart racing.
"That we got something real, shorty
I know what I feel
So shout it like that
Shout it like this
Listen up, everybody knows
But you, so here it goes"
Before he is close enough to hear her, Y/N turns her face towards Carrie with a small smile full of disbelief.
"He likes me"
It's a statement and Carrie knows that, yet the blonde beauty still smiles happily while nodding before moving to sit by Reggie's other side.
"'Cause I never really noticed
Took a while for me to see
Playing back the moments
Now I'm starting to believe
That you could be at the show and know every word
But it's you who makes me sing"
Luke kneels in front of her giving her his best smile, a smile she returns sweetly.
Alex smiling alongside Flynn in excitement because of the scene that was unfolding in front of all of them.
"And I know where we are and I know who I am
Baby, I'm your biggest fan, oh"
Luke stares into her e/c eyes, remembering the first time they met and the way he had been weirded out by her internal fangirl moment. But then, somehow, things changed. One day he just didn't see her as that weird girl anymore.
"Every time you smile for me
Takes me a while to bring myself back
'Cause you're all that
And I just had to let you know"
Y/N stares at his bright green eyes remembering the first time he met the real him, not the one she met through her phone's screen but the real with imperfections him.
"That I'm screaming out in the crowd for you
I can't be too loud but I don't care
I let 'em all stare
I just want everyone to know
The truth, it's only you"
Carrie and Reggie share a look full of love, both remembering when they were just best friends and how hard it had been for the both of them to finally admit their feelings for one another.
"I never really noticed
Took a while for me to see
Playing back the moments
Now I'm starting to believe"
Alex smiles as he sees the huge smile on Y/N's face. To think that a year ago she had been the one to introduce him to Willie, who was now his boyfriend, and now she was here being serenading by one of his best friends, his brother even.
"That you could be at the show and know every word
But it's you who makes me sing
We may not know where we are but I know who I am
Baby, I'm your biggest fan"
Luke's playing falters as does his confidence, which everybody notices. Everybody around them soon screaming words of encouragement.
"Don't stop now, Luke"
"Yeah, sing it!" adds Reggie after Julie.
Luke looks unsure but one look at Y/N's hopeful face has him continuing the song. By rapping much to everyone's surprise.
"You showed up and you looked so classy
Made me think twice 'bout the way I was acting
You were real from the start of it all
Like a dream came to life, now I'm left in all"
A blush soon covers Y/N features and her face soon go to cover her face as her smiles becomes too big to hide.
Her all-time crush was seranading her a song that confessed his feelings for her, this had to be a dream. What were the odds?
"A stars shine but your light is the brightest
Love flies but your love is the highest
You're so sweet that it drives me crazy
A summer like no other, you're my L.A. baby"
Flynn joins Julie in snapping her fingers to the rhythm as the curly-haired girl keeps singing harmonies with Reggie for the brunette rockstar. Alex and Bobby soon joining in.
"I never really noticed
It took a while for me to see
(took a while for me to see)"
Everybody smiles as they see both of their friends stare at one another with so much love. This had been coming for a long time, they all knew it.
They knew it since the small talks became lingering gazes between one another.
"Playing back the moments
Now I'm starting to believe
(starting to believe)"
He couldn't believe he was actually as lucky as he was. He was falling for a talented and passionate girl who wasn't ashamed to let everyone know what she thought and felt.
He just hoped he was lucky enough to have her love him back, because if she said she felt the same he knew it wouldn't be because he was Luke Patterson, Sunset Curve's lead singer, but because he was Luke, the guy she wrote songs with from time to time.
"That you could be at the show and know every word
But it's you who makes me sing
And I know where we are and I know who I am
(I know who I am)"
Y/N lowers her gaze as she feels her eyes get a little teary with emotion. Having heard the words he had said about her the other day had hurt her deeply, but now he was letting her know exactly what he felt.
He was letting her see his soul. He was being vulnerable with her. He was telling she was worth being vulnerable.
"Baby, I'm your biggest fan, oh
Baby, I'm your biggest fan, oh"
As the song comes to its end, Y/N wipes the smile from her face to stare at her with a curious gaze. She knew how he felt but she still wanted him to actually say it.
"'Cause you could be at the show and know every word
But it's you who makes me sing
We may not know where we are but I know who I am
Baby, I'm your biggest fan”
Silence takes over all of them, Y/N raising her eyebrow to let Luke know she was expecting more than just a song.
"Oh!" He exclaims before proceeding to get rid of the guitar.
Reggie reaches for it before hurrying him to speak making Y/N let out a small laugh at the sight before becoming serious once again.
"I... Ju-I want you to know... Y/N, I..."
She looks at him with furrowed eyebrows as he stares at his hands for a moment to gather his thoughts.
Finally, he grabs her hands in his before staring into her eyes. Green and e/c meeting with many emotions swirling through them.
"I like you, Y/N. I have for a while, but I do" He states, "I like the way you scrunch your nose when you laugh, the way you can't stop yourself from singing along to all of our songs, how you always go out of your way to help the people you care about, I..."
He takes a deep breath, "Even the moments when you acted all crazy, I love those moments. Heck, I think I may love you. I just want to-"
Y/N's right hand finds her way to Luke's mouth, a smile overtaking her features while a deep crimson resides on her cheeks.
"Take me on a date first, okay?" he nods silently, "But, uh, I think I may love you too. And not Luke Patterson, I think I may love Luke"
That's all he need to hear before hugging her close to him as his friends cheer them on. He would take her on a date and they would see how things moved on from there.
But for now this was enough. They were each other's biggest fan.
No me pasa😭
This is truly a blessing of a fanfic, can’t wait to read more!!
@ Charlie | Charlie Gillespie
A/N: I dedicate this fic to the wonderful @jatpsmut who listened to my ideas and really supported me throughout the writing process! Thank you so much for all the help, I probably wouldn’t have posted this fic without your encouragement!! 💕💕
(and @ Charlie if you see this, please send her a birthday message on 17 March! 😉)
This one is a bit shorter than my other fics because I’m busy at work at the moment but I might write a second part if I find the time/inspiration (I already have a vague idea for it). Hope you enjoy this one! :)
Pairing: Charlie x fem!reader
Word count: 2,110
Warnings: probably some typos because I’m tired and can’t concentrate while I’m proofreading this rn 🙈
Summary: Y/N writes JATP fanfiction and decides to leave little notes to Charlie at the end of her fics but she doesn’t expect anything to happen. To her surprise, she suddenly starts receiving replies to her notes and it turns out that it’s Charlie.

Y/N Y/L/N had never really been involved in a fandom until she had watched Julie and the Phantoms. She’d also never really written fanfiction before and she had never even considered messaging a famous person. But something about Julie and the Phantoms had been different. Somehow the show had felt special, so she had made a tumblr account and soon she’d been sucked into a world of fan theories, crazy discourses, and writing stories about the show’s characters. She enjoyed reblogging things on her blog, coming up with stories about her favourite characters and talking to the friends she made along the way but she never expected anyone from the cast and crew of the show to ever find out about her blog or her fics. She was just having fun without a care in the world. When she saw a video in which Charlie mentioned that he thought Julie and the Phantoms fans wrote really well, an idea formed in her mind but little did she know, that this idea would turn her life upside down.
I have thought about coming back on tumblr so if you have any request of any character, message me! If I know the character I would like to write a one shot!!
