Luke Patterson - Tumblr Posts

can we start a repost chain saying H O M O P H O B E
My crackhead self just came up with an idea-
So we all make three letters each (one to netflix, one to hulu, and one to a jatp cast member) and then depending on who the letter is for, we say different things
Netflix
Bully them. Point out that the show had won three Emmys, had a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, had a fanbase that is an equliavent to a motherfucking cult, and they STILL had the audacity to cancel it
Hulu/Disney+
Mention the devastated and desperate fanbase, and the massive amount of accomplishments and awards that JATP has(for Hulu, you can mention the petition on the Hulu site to get it picked up
Cast
Literally just spam them with your love and support. Tell them how much you look up to them, how funny they are, etc.
Idk why I came up with this idea but I did and I don’t regret it.
Ayo fantoms.
I know that the fandom is dying if we’re not already dead, but can we please have one last clowngate?
June the 7th. Write fics, make fanart, make memes, stream the show on Netflix. If you can’t do any of this just reblog like your life depends on it. Do whatever you can. Let’s at least try to make it to Tumblr’s top three.
This gives us about 2 weeks to prepare.
Oh... and tell your friends.
LET'S GO BOYS
Make sure to tell your JATP friends to watch the show on April 30. We are trying to get the show on the top ten on Netflix.

Feel free to share and any other JATP stuff on my page.
LET"S GO CLOWNGATE
🚨Calling all Phantoms!!!!🚨As we all know September 10th marks the four year anniversary of Julie And The Phantoms coming out. To show Netflix even more how much we truly love and want JATP back we all collectively watch JATP on September 10th. Also we should app come together and comment under Netflix's post #renewjatp!!!! I know that we all love and miss JATP. We know that Kenny and the rest of the cast and crew miss JATP as well. Let's make some noise and make out voices heard. We CAN'T give up or loose hope. Julie And The Phantoms deserves a second season a couple of movies to give us the closure that we deserve. 🚨Make sure to spread this post around!!!🚨
Ok so I’m watching finally free for the bajillionth time and this has probably been said but I had a thought: what if Luke wrote Finally Free to help show his support for Alex after he came out to his parents. Ignoring all of the other boys possible sexualities, let’s see what we know.
Long post btw.
1. We know that Luke wrote it before he died because it was in his journal.
2. We know that Alex came out to his parents and it didn’t go well. With his anxiety on top of the stress of coming out and being met with rejection, this would have been a really hard time for him.
3. Luke connects with people and conveys emotion through music and that music has connected the boys from the very beginning.
4. The boys support Alex and his sexuality very much!
Going almost line by line:
“Hearts on fire /We're no liars/So we say what we wanna say/I'm awakened/No more faking/So we push all our fears away”
This is like how Alex couldn’t hide who he was from his parents any longer and told them, even though it must have made his anxiety go through the roof. Also “I’m awakened” refers to a sexual awakening and Alex realizing that he was gay. He couldn’t lie to his parents, so he faced his fears and told them. Luke is congratulating him, even though it didn’t turn out well.
“And you're a part of me/Hands up if you're with me/Now 'til eternity/Hands up if you believe/Been so long, and now we're finally free”
This part is Luke talking to Alex saying that even though things aren’t great, it’s ok. You have us and we’re gonna be with you no matter what. Screw your parents. You’re finally free of them. This is also the vibe I get from Luke in the scene before This Band is Back where they’re talking about what happened to Bobby and their families.
“We're all bright now/What a sight now/Coming out like we're fireworks/Marching on proud/Turn it up loud/'Cause now we know what we're worth”
This one is a bit more self explanatory. It literally says coming out like we’re fireworks, which are very colorful and rainbowy. Next it says marching on proud as a reference to pride. “Turn it up loud” because Alex refuses to hide anymore. Finally “cause now we know what we’re worth” says “Hey Alex. You’re awesome and even if your parents don’t see that, you are and you’re worth so much more than they know.”

Carlos comes in the next morning because Julie didn’t come into his room the night before and the boys are trying to shush him so he doesn’t wake Julie up but he can’t see them so she ends up waking up to Carlos screaming excitedly because in the morning light he can see that Julie is FLOATING (laying on the boys, but only part of her is actually touching a physical surface that Carlos can see) on the COUCH
How long do you think Julie stayed in the garage after the group hug? They way they’re like “We’ll give you this, and you can let your imagination run wild with what happened after.” Part of me feels like she couldn’t just leave after that hug.
Wait no stop-
All of them giving her individual hugs after like I-
I just posted chapter 3. I hope you guys like it!!

JULIE AND THE PHANTOMS
Edge of Great (1x07)
Can someone please tell me where I can get a ripped black jeans jacket like Alex?
Nothing could have prepared me for the whiplash I got when I first read the jatp novelization and found out that Alex never actually bought any pink shirts or hoodies, he just accidentally had a red sock in his white laundry, turned everything pink and decided to just roll with it.
I am once again wondering what the fuck was in those fucking hot dogs that killed them so damn fast. I mean, in the novelization it says that they were dead before the ambulance even arrived on scene.
Like, even if it would've been "just" food poisoning by really bad meat, it should have taken at least a few hours before they died of it.
Or do the ambulances in LA just take that long to arrive on the scene?

Someone who is better with words than me needs to write a fanfiction about the boys, especially Alex, finding out about Lil Nas X
I'm begging you

JULIE AND THE PHANTOMS | 1.01 - Wake Up
So I cant find the post that initially got me thinking about this, but on the topic of Julie making Luke a better writer:
We see 2 Sunset Curve songs that Luke wrote pre-Julie. Now or Never and Bright. He edited Bright a little before he gave it to her, and we only hear it in full when she's performing it, but I think the core of it was basically unchanged. Now or Never and Bright are both good songs, they're fun to listen to and they're technically well done (by which I mean that the technical aspects are all well-executed). But they're also..... kinda generic?
Like not in a bad way necessarily, but the theme of both is kinda that "Life is awesome"/"I'm awesome"/"Don't underestimate me" teenagerness that's kinda default in a way -- music I wrote in my tween/teen years had the same vibes. And I kinda think that you end up with that vibe when you're feeling a lot but you don't really know how to express it in a way that will connect with other people. We know Luke was feeling a lot because we also see Unsaid Emily, which he wrote pre-Julie but notably not for Sunset Curve to perform. Unsaid Emily is for himself and his mom. Given the time to think about it, he knows what he wants to say and knows how to say it in his song. And Unsaid Emily turns out great, in that gutting, punch-to-the-heart way.
Basically, Luke pre-Julie had the potential to write great, emotional songs, but he shied away from writing those songs with the intention of performing them. For performances, he focused on less heavy themes with a broader, more general appeal, and on hyping up audiences and encouraging people. (btw we see echoes of this a bit too in the scene on the beach where the boys end up playing This Band Is Back -- Luke's trying to cheer them up, focus less on what they lost and more on what they still have as opposed to processing their grief because then there would be Emotions and our boy does not know what to do with sad people.)
Julie-and-Luke songs are a whole different breed to Luke's pre-Julie music. There are a lot of similarities, what with Luke, Reggie, and Alex's involvement, particularly in the level of energy. They're not writing slow ballads or swingy showtunes. It's still the same style of music, but the big difference to me is the amount of emotion and emotional nuance in Julie-era music.
Finally Free is also about breaking out of the mold -- but it's triumphant and celebratory and inwardly-focused where Bright was defiant, more about making your own mark than about being true to yourself.
Edge of Great is also about envisioning the road ahead -- but it's hopeful and about the faith and wonder at the future where Now or Never is an insistence that life isn't gonna stop you from doing what you want.
Pre-Julie, Luke's songs are pushing back against an undefined opposing force (and like, his parents on some level) but he doesn't really put any of his own feelings into them. He's angry, and the anger is where he's drawing from but it doesn't actually inspire him.
But with Julie? Julie's songs dig deeper into her feelings, and I think she writes them for herself more than for others (esp. compared to Luke's pre-Julie music). She doesn't shy away from grief or fear (Flying Solo, Stand Tall) but she always turns it around by the end of the song, makes the song about growth rather than about the sucky parts of life. Flying Solo is inspired by her fear of losing Flynn, but the song itself is an ode to friendship. Stand Tall has a definite basis in how Julie thought she wasn't going to be able to make music without her mom, but it reaches everybody else because it's ultimately about overcoming obstacles and loss.
(and not to make this too sappy, but julie's the reason that luke can connect with people in the end -- not because she makes him visible but because she shows him how to actually use his emotions in his music. luke helps julie get back on her feet after her mom's death, and julie convinces luke to wear his heart on his sleeve instead of trying to hide it every time it falls out of his pocket)
concept: past luke/alex who went on like 3 dates and then kinda just settled as friends without ever talking about it.
alex: my last relationship was pretty short actually
willie: that bad?
alex: no, just-- hhhhhhhooooh my god i never broke up with him
cue comedy as alex breaks up with luke who's conflicted between being supportive and razzing alex about it (spoiler: he manages both)
