Draco Malfoy Hated Harry Potter So Much That He...

Draco Malfoy hated Harry Potter so much that he...

Tried to befriend him in Madam Malkin’s even though he didn’t know who he was at the time, and Harry probably looked a bit raggedy

Tried to befriend him again on the train once he realized who he was

Was so upset that Harry take his hand when they were 11 that he spent most of the next 5 years holding a grudge

Constantly talked about Harry to his friends

Even when he didn’t know Harry was listening, so it’s not like he was just doing it to annoy him

Spent the entire summer between first and second year talking about Harry Potter, to the point that his father actually lost his temper with him because he was so sick of hearing about Harry Potter all the time

Knew a startling amount about Harry despite the fact that they are 1) in different Houses and 2) decidedly not friends

Remember when Rita Skeeter recruited him as a source about Harry Potter and he was actually pretty good at it because he knew so much about Harry’s life?

Remember when everyone thought Harry must be the Heir of Slytherin but Draco knew that couldn’t be the truth because he instantly understood Harry wouldn’t do that?

Started avoiding Harry as soon as he (albeit unwillingly) became a Death Eater, even though then he should’ve wanted to go after Harry more than ever

Failed to seriously harm Harry or deliver him to Voldemort when he had him paralyzed, defenseless, and completely at his mercy on the train at the beginning of 6th year, even though killing or capturing Harry Potter would certainly have saved him and his family from Voldemort’s wrath, and probably would have ensured they received a rich reward beside.

Refused to identify Harry at Malfoy Manor, thus buying him enough time to escape, even though he knew that he was risking certain torture and quite possibly death for both himself and his family

He had Voldemort living in his house. He knew the price he was paying and he knew how valuable delivering Harry Potter could be for him and his family. And his still chose not to.

And he paid the price. Harry could feel Voldemort’s wrath and weeks later at the Battle of Hogwarts Lucius still bore visible marks from what Voldemort did despite the healing powers of magic in that world

Could not harm Harry in the Room of Requirement even though taking him in was probably the last chance he had for salvation for him and his family

Turned his back on the beliefs he had been raised with as soon as he was free to

Yeah. Seems legit.

JK Rowling unfortunately seems to have no idea how fandom works, what meta is or that people might have different interpretations of her work. It also seems that her vision of Draco also extends to Slytherin House as a whole in most cases, since she tends to portray them as being the "evil House" with little to none redemable qualities or characters, wich is a shame. Specially for children who went to Pottermore and got sorted into Slytherin.

It's a black and white mentality that just dosen't hold up to reality and to the potential depth she (accidentaly) gave those characters, and it would be great if she could just stop policing the fandom, specially in matters her input is not required.

Hey, can you link me to where JKR said "Why do people ship Drarry?" Or anything about Drarry at all? Because I've never once seen her even mention it. And your post is pretty much ascribing that quote to her. I'm happy to admit it if I'm wrong, but I just don't think she ever said that.

Hello there. I assume you are referring to this post I made. First of all, I am not “ascribing” a quote to JK Rowling. There are no quotation marks there. However, I am referencing real things.

For example, she has multiple times gone on rather long and (in my opinion inappropriately controlling, didactic, and sanctimonious) rants about how upset she was that fans liked Draco and why people shouldn’t like him. She has also suggested several times that anyone who likes him must be attracted to Tom Felton (which is also rude, as it discounts the depth of his performance and also kinda inappropriate. Imagine if a male author said that about a female actress).

Even very recently she posted this on pottermore:

“For all this, Draco remains a person of dubious morality in the seven published books, and I have often had cause to remark on how unnerved I have been by the number of girls who fell for this particular fictional character (although I do not discount the appeal of Tom Felton, who plays Draco brilliantly in the films and, ironically, is about the nicest person you could meet). Draco has all the dark glamour of the anti-hero; girls are very apt to romanticise such people. All of this left me in the unenviable position of pouring cold common sense on ardent readers’ daydreams as I told them, rather severely, that Draco was not concealing a heart of gold under all that sneering and prejudice and that no, he and Harry were not destined to end up best friends.“

(x)

This is very reductive and condescending. And also obviously pours cold water on drarry. It’s only one example. But there are lots more if you feel like digging.  The same post also referred to liking Draco’s character as an “unhealthy fantasy.”

So yeah. She really does hold those attitudes. Despite writing books with a tremendous amount of drarry subtext.

It was that bad? Yikes.

I set the bar very low for the new The Grudge movie. Yet somehow, the movie managed to be even worse than I expected. Holy shit, someone give me back those 94 minutes. I could've done something useful.

That sounds really cool, I can't wait to play it! And thanks for tip to look for the game at gog.com, I'll check it out!

The stories in the first witcher book are primarily fairy tales

Renfri is Snow White

The last wish is Aladdin

But Netflix decision not to do beauty and the beast proves them to be utter cowards
